There was an accident with the yellow train during testing that was blown way out of proportion by another Web site. So, it's led to a few "yellow train of doom" jokes.

I think the Jamaican Bobsled is the better of the two rides, but you can't go wrong with either of them. In Jamaica you do have to book a shore excursion and take a bus and a freaky chairlift ride to the alpine slide.

^I excpect that in the South. I have friends who live in Jackson County, NC, which I think ceased to be a "dry county" just a few years ago. It's just so odd to see it in Jersey.

Same. The concept art looks good, and I like some of the ride concepts (particularly the launched indoor coaster and Atlantis-themed shooting dark ride).

Adding the real snow is a great idea for Tampa. I'm curious to see how Tampa's Christamas Town compares to Williamsburg's.

I'm sure those bumper cars are fully licensed by Disney.

We've strayed a bit off topic here, folks--the thread is about Hong Kong Disneyland, after all. So, how about those runaway mine cars?

They are sort of hypnotic . . . But, arrows or no, I think this project would still call for quite a bit reengineering on the mountain and the infrastructure. But that being said, I like the idea of the Hong Kong park having something unique.

You make it sound as if I said it could be done overnight. Surely you agree it would be far, far cheaper than a $100 million clone of the entire Big Grizzly ride? Remember, I replied to someone who said "bring this to DCA". Which wouldn't make sense imo, if you already have Big Thunder. Not necessarily. I have no idea what would have to be done to a ride like Grizzly River Run or Big Thunder Mountain to accomodate these changes. You're the one who believes it would be "easy." But sometimes it's cheaper to build something new than to renovate something old.

I think SFStL's version is the best of the old Scooby Doo shooting dark rides.

^I kind of like the "retroness" of the theme--sort of like Tomorrowland in the 1960s. Putting in a more moderately priced resort is a good idea, and I think Elissa's right about any Potter-themed hotels (if they happen, they'll be more "deluxe").

^I think Disney's the only compnay that's had any luck maintaining Vekoma steel coasters--well, except for Space Mountain in Paris.

Hmm--I'm not an engineer, but I think you may be seriously underestimating how much reengineering, renovation, and layout changes the Big Thunder rides would need to accomodate these elements. Just a thought.

I thought the show's strengths were the video footage (although they did reuse some shots a bit too often) and Robb's commentary (at least he got the last word on the winner at the end). I imagine that the producers were looking for breathless "excitement" in the interviews and, let's face it, that isn't the strength of the average coaster enthusiast. I would've liked to see Robb offering a comment at the beginning of each segment, rather than just at the beginning and the end of the show. One comment in the narration amused the copy editor in me. It had to do with an "unsuspecting" coaster element. Mr. Narrator, the coaster element is an inanimate object; therefore, it is incapable of "suspecting" anything.

Strangely enough, I wasn't surprised that Aftershock won the poll, as the public always seems to love the "Boomerang" type rides. (Montu was the best in that group, though.)

^Our go-to pizza joint was Eddie's on Foothill Blvd. It was run by this guy from the Philippines with a scar on his face--but he made a good pizza.
