  1. Happy Valley Beijing gets pretty low marks for operations, thanks to its bizarre staggered opening times that seem designed to guarantee hideous lines for guests all day. Then there's that Spinning Mouse coaster that apparently hasn't operated since 2008 or so. A park that is fair of face but foul of temperament.
  2. We already have a thread regarding parks with horrible operations: http://themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=580042#p580042. Fell free to post your observations in there. Thank you.
  3. ^I caught Skyfall last Saturday night, and was very amused to see the hotel and Pearl Tower being featured.
  4. It's great to see these trackless ride systems becoming more common--love the one at Tokyo Disneyland.
  5. It was interesting to see the control stations of Escape from Pompeii. You get a great view from up there.
  6. It was all the free beer. But seriously folks, TPR was the site that got me interested in the hobby. I'd been a member of a few other sites (mostly Disney related) but tired of them quickly. They took themselves far too seriously. As we all know, that's not an issue here. I've met a lot of great people here, too. It's the only theme-park-related site I know that's consistently informative and entertaining.
  7. ^He's still trying to save SOB's old loop.
  8. ^I've never seen that effect work, myself.
  9. It's an excellent Disney coaster and a great addition to Hong Kong Disneyland.
  10. I feel compelled to ask, "The Screamin' Squirrel--why?"
  11. ^You could've parlayed that splinter into a free annual pass for life! "Big Thunder is now ruined for me forever because it hurt my child!"
  12. Perhaps particularly obnoxious guests will wake up in the morning and find themselves on a container ship heading for Somalia.
  13. The Transformers building has sort of a Borg Cube vibe to it now--thanks for the update!
  14. SeaWorld has been making some smart moves in San Diego lately. Good to see them expanding their presence there even more.
  15. ^Legend was running much better that Voyage when TPR was there in 2010.
  16. I have no stake in this, as I've never ridden the Hurricane (never spent any time in Miami). But I'd never even heard of the ride before I joined TPR. Maybe that was part of the problem: poor location and lack of exposure.
  17. I prefer the physical effects to the projections.
  18. Why is the Satanic Raccoon headbutting a little pumpkin?
  19. ^An animatronic Dementor gets in your face. Well, kind of a "Dementor on a Stick."
  20. Yes, I understand your meaning, but I take things a step further. Son of Beast (like Bandit at Movie World and Anaconda at Walygator) is pure, unmitigated EVIL--not just some poor "beast." Exorcism is the only way to ensure that it is gone forever!
  21. Now the ground on which it stood must be sown with salt and purified with fire, and holy crosses must be painted on any remaining concrete footers.
  22. I liked Disney's new interactive queue for the Haunted Mansion, so why not Big Thunder? Anything that gives people something to do while they're waiting in line (other than carving their initials on the hand rails) is OK by me.
  23. ^^I agree completely regarding Hellcat--easily the best ride in Wisconsin (and it would rank pretty high in other states, too). Hypersonic was fun the first year or two that it operated. Then it started shaking itself to death. ^I also was pleasantly surprised by Comet.
