  1. ^^ At least Pirates has a huge capacity. It can sometimes get up to 3000 pph, depending on the the speed of the workers. Just wait until Nemo opens with its medicore (est.) 1400 pph, for an E-ticket! That line will be scary.
  2. ^^ See, the classics don't suck. I have a few recommendations: (1) Winesburg, Ohio Wow, what a great, moving book. Many miss out on this great classic, don't be one of them. It is comprised of short stories all connected by setting and characters. (2) Tortilla Flat Good ol' Steinbeck book. Very good ending. (3) Of Mice and Men Another Steinbeck, very good, its short length makes it even more appealing.
  3. Pirates did not lose anything. In fact, they made it go back to the "un-polictical correctness" old ways. They are updating it, and adding a few new things. Think of it as frosting on a cake. The cake itself is the normal, old-style pirates. The icing is the new effects/AA's they added in. Most people like the icing, but a few just like the good old cake, with no icing. Um... yeah. That's the best way I can explain it.
  4. Great TR! I really enjoy the pictures. "What the hell!?"
  5. This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius, age of Aquarius.... Sorry, that's exactly what I thought of when I saw that park name. Too bad that it got cancelled. Oh well... it happens to most of the ambitious parks.
  6. You didn't go on Ellen's Energy Adventure? Shame... it's worth going on to see exactly how terrible it really is (before it gets torn down). No Mission: Space? Sigh... people make that thing out to be the most intense thing in the world. It really isn't. The only real intense part is the launch, which lasts about 15 seconds. I can't do spinning rides, and I was fine on that- you don't even feel like you're spinning. It really is a cool ride, though. Great TR!
  7. While I was looking through my photos, I found something really strange. Look at the ferris wheel pictures. Why the hell does it say "Fuji?" It is a Chance Ferris Wheel, so it couldn't be the name of the company. Methinks it was from Fuji-Q Highlands. Does anyone else know more?
  8. This is my problem with Christianity. I simply cannot believe how Christians act sometimes. They protest the opening of the film The Da Vinci Code, then capitalize on it by teaching classes about it, basically debunking every single thing in the book/film. They hate gays, and call them sinners. However, doesn't God say, "ask, and you shall be forgiven?" So, these are two contradictory messages. Churches should be getting gays into their churches and accepting them, not turning them away. The gospel says that all sins can be forgiven. I don't have anything against Christianity, but I simply cannot support how the churches work sometimes.
  9. Dark rides are a truly under done aspect of parks these days. Other than parks like Universal and Disney, hardly any have put in dark rides. Dark rides have a certain charm to them, and are enjoyable for everyone, not just the thrill seaker. Great TR! I'm looking forward to seeing more.
  10. Why can't we just disregard that press release? Six Flags does own all of their properties- they can do what they want with them. So, any park, chain-wide, can have anything (or nothing) happen to it. Nothing has been confirmed, at all. The press release basically said, "Well, we're looking at options." Nothing more.
  11. ^ That "boring, descriptive text" can have so much meaning and significance, especially in the the classics. They are filled with motifs, metaphors, allusions, and many other interesting thing if you read for meaning and understanding. Yes, the Harry Potter novels are enjoyable, but they aren't the most well-written or meaningful books in the world. Interpreting the literature is one of the most interesting things. You can't read every book the same way. It just wouldn't work. I went into reading Romeo and Juliet thinking that it would be terrible. It wasn't. I truly enjoyed it, actually, and found it very interesting and entertaining. Yes, it did take more work to read that than some other books, it was more rewarding. Give it a chance. You're making huge generalizations.
  12. ^ Um... yeah. It really is. But, really guys, nothing has been confirmed. If Six Flags does sell parks, it will be some crappy ones that not many people care about (like SFDL.) Just take a deep breath, and we'll get through this.
  13. There is a food court near Deja Vu (called Farmer's Market) that has almost anything you'd want. It also has ample seating, and there is quite a bit of shaded seating. Oh, BTW, if you don't feel like spending a crapload for a Coke, just ask for a cup of water. They'll give it to you at nearly every place in the park. In fact, if you ask for one, they might give you a large.
  14. I have a reccomendation for a classic book, if you are looking for one. Anthem, by Ayn Rand It's short (only about 110 pages of actual text- the rest is her manuscript in the edition I got). A truly powerful book with a more powerful message about conformity and the abolishment of the individual. Probably one of the most powerful and moving books I have read, and it's scary how our society is moving closer and closer to this fate.
  15. They just had a blurb about it on my local news. Here's what they said: (1) Six Flags might close some parks (2) They haven't identified which parks could be closed (which is false, because they did annouce those six.) (3) Attendance is down and operating costs are up (4) Apparently there is a Six Flags near Chicago! Who knew?
  16. I really want to go to Spain. It would be so amazing there (plus, I can speak Spanish pretty darn well, so, it would be fun to communicate with people there.) (Begins saving money...)
  17. ^ Doubtful. Most music games use cover versions due to licensing stuff in the US. Strange, but that's how they do it.
  18. I have to do mine for Honors English. Last year, I had to read four books, but only note them, with no tests. This year, I read three books, do an essay, and take quizzes over the books in addition to noting them. I don't believe that the normal level English courses at our school require summer reading. But, that's the point of an honors course. To go above and beyond normal requirements.
  19. Praise the lord! Don't flaunt your money, damn it, Wes! No one pays $90 for shoes!
  20. Some tips (I haven't gone this season yet, but these tips generally work year to year.) (1) Hit Superman first! Get to the park before it opens, and join the line that forms on the midway. This will prevent the 1 hr+ wait later. (2) Head over to Ragin' Cajun if you want, otherwise, go to Batman and V2. Also: Hit Yankee Clipper if you want- it's one of the only Arrow Hydroflumes that still is around and still "jumps." (It really is insane!) (3) Continue the same direction, hitting Iron Wolf and American Eagle. If possible, ride the red side in the front seat. It is a great ride there. Also, the red side is smoother than blue and has more (and better) bunny hills. (4) Hit Deja Vu (if open) and Demon. Ride in the back on Demon- smoother ride and insane air on the first drop. Brace yourself during the dive into the corkscrews. (5) Go to Whizzer and ride (6) Ride Viper or Raging Bull (in no particular order). Viper almost always has a 30 minute line, usually no longer. Ride in the front car for best ride. Raging Bull will probably have a long line, but it should be fine, because 3 trains are usually running. Ride in the back on Raging Bull.
  21. Pick three of the following. Read and note, be prepared for quizzes on the books you read on the second day of school. During the first week back, you will apply different types of literary criticism to the novels and write a 4-page analysis over one of the books. The Martian Chronicles, Bradbury Jane Eyre, Bronte My Antonia, Cather A Farewell to Arms, Hemingway One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Kesey Into the Wild, Krakauer Life of Pi, Martel The Chosen, Potok Gilead, Robinson Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, Sijie The Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck The Joy Luck Club, Tan Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant, Tyler The Ponder Hear, Welty
  22. Worst: The PTC squeal of death around tight turns. Lovely. Example: American Eagle. Stand-up trains being reset for new riders. I can just imagine a person getting his balls murdered if he was on it. Example: Iron Wolf People who click their seatbelt on B&M coasters 200 times in a row. The sound Gerstlauer wood coaster trains make... it sounds weird, like a piece of plastic running against wood. It's just weird, and doesn't sound good. Best: Buzzbars PTC trains on lifts The weird sound Premier LIM's make
  23. ^ I thought the same thing. For some reason, the Snails ride looks fun... scary. Great TR! Your photos were great. Thanks for posting it... it was fun to read.
  24. Yes, it is the same thing as SFMM. Four rides for $20 (or somehwhere around there). You can use it at: -Superman: Ultimate Flight -V2: Vertical Velocity -Batman: The Ride -Iron Wolf -Whizzer -Giant Drop -Logger's Run -Raging Bull Keep in mind that the list can change on a daily basis, so make sure you look at the sign stating which rides are FlashPass available that day.
  25. Hmm... maybe I'll actually start e-mailing Dan.
