You'd have to be insane to buy a nearly million dollar home next to a loud ass theme park, and top that off by having to worry about fires destroying your property every year. No thanks On another note, when SFMM decides to add their next roller coaster, you're probably going to hear about something prominent being removed first. That's kinda the way Six Flags rolls now.

I really like Green Lantern. Yes, I said it. It's the most intense ride in the park and really freaks people out. My last ride on it was outstanding. Those drops are amazing. I don't know, I feel like people like to pile on this one and the bashing of it is a little unfair. It's obviously not a ride for everyone I will admit, but I have a special place for unique, freaky ass coasters that have their way with with me.

Debatable. Replacing a log flume with a small Euro-fighter (with a ride time from the top of the lift to the brakes of under 20 seconds... shorter than Kingda Ka from launch to brakes) that's almost guaranteed to be running one train indefinitely forever a few years into it's existence would definitely be considered a bad thing by some (raises hand). As oppose to Hangtime at Knotts?

Can't say I agree. As much as I'd love to see jaguar get replaced by something better, Knott's won't get rid of it anytime soon. It's very reliable, has low maintenance costs, has great capacity, and is one of the most popular coasters in the park. If anything Knotts would probably take out Bigfoot Rapids or Xcelerator before Jaguar. Yeah I disagree, but that's okay. I could see Bigfoot being removed and the space wasted on something like Phony Express. Jaguar is more of a centerpiece of the park, and the centerpiece of the park deserves better. IMO Of course we could all be wrong and the park could find space elsewhere. I'm just going with my gut on this one.

I think any ground up RMC would take a big chunk of land and if they can swing that kind of project I'd rather they put in a giga hyper. Unless they can somehow get RMC to design a giga woodie hybrid. Or...RMC Raptor/T-Rex design I'll take a T-Rex. Not a Raptor. Knott's is just too busy a park to have such a low capacity ride. I would really love them to replace to Jaguar with a better ride but keep the temple. Maybe a custom T-Rex? It's interesting you mention Jaguar, because I agree it's the next logical coaster removal for something better.

I'm not sure I would base Knott's next coaster possibility on what's happened in the past. Let's see what happens once HangTime opens. If it drives big revenue for the park, I wouldn't be surprised to see something else on the drawing boards in the near future. I'd love to see a ground up RMC at this park.

"At some point, the company’s aim of drawing more visitors will make it harder to limit capital spending, which, as we show in the chart below, now averages about 9% of revenue, versus around 12% at Cedar Fair and SeaWorld. Purtell says Six Flags can spend more efficiently than other operators, because it’s the world’s biggest customer for roller-coasters and other thrill rides. Bigger crowds would also make it harder to maintain Six Flags’ comparatively low operating expenditures, some of which goes to upkeep of the parks. Purtell says cleanliness is a top priority and that company surveys show customers are happy. As a check, Barron’s studied the user ratings displayed at the website TripAdvisor. As we show in the chart on page 20, the top five U.S. parks of Six Flags got markedly higher proportions of “poor” and “terrible” ratings than did the top five U.S. parks run by Cedar Fair and SeaWorld; or the top two operated by Walt Disney (DIS) and the NBCUniversal unit of Comcast (CMCSA), giving larger parks more weight". As I have said, being cheap and thrifty will work for awhile, because SF already had such a extensive group of large rides thanks to the former regime's over spending. But that will only take you so far as people begin to stay home and save their money until the next "BIG" ride arrives. It will be interesting to see how they handle this going forward.

Honestly, I am happy to see the that they are moving around the park, targeting areas that have been abandoned and crappy for years. It is the best approach to what must have been a daunting looking task at it's beginning. We all know the park was ignored and rundown looking throughout he early 2000s to the point where by 2006, some thought it wasn't worth saving. Kudos to Bonnie and Co, who recognized what an untapped gem this park is and are piece by piece, bringing the park back to life. They aren't going to please everyone with their decisions, but they also aren't sitting on their asses doing nothing but installing temporary coaster fixes either. That approach DID NOT WORK. Oh, and the move to daily operations is an awesome move imo. Now the park can host all kinds of off season special events and hire permanent staff.
