  1. ^^^^ & ^ Xcel and TTD suffer the same heat related problems. It is not the Hydraulic room that overheats but the hydraulic fluid itself that overheats and becomes thin. When it gets extremely thin it becomes harder to compress therefore the hydraulic pumps generate more heat trying to achieve the required pressure thus causing a thermal shutdown via the rides PLC. You are bound to have some heat issues when you have hydraulic fluid under 13,000 PSI running for 10+ hours. I operated an Intamin rocket coaster for 5 1/2 years so I'm well aware of the heat related problems that arise. I have no idea if excessive heat cause TTD's latest downtime but I can guarantee every rocket coaster suffers from this.
  2. Deja Vu hands down!
  3. Sneaky Italians. Despite the lack of "major" coasters does this park get decently crowded?
  4. Glad to see this finally being built!
  5. WOC fountains are up during the day when the technicians are working on them. Otherwise the platforms are lowered.
  6. Those pictures hurt my heart Demon at CGA will meet that fate soon enough.........sad but true.
  7. Oh ok thanks guys. Seems like it was a mess. Plenty of cash to be made with a LoQ system. Baffles me how it took this long for CF to realize the profit they were missing. ^WTF! I think the left over blue ink was shipped to SFMM for the Scream media day
  8. Amazing! Congratulations!
  9. Ah yes, the Freeway system was quite the train wreck from what I hear. How exactly did that work?.....or NOT work I should say
  10. Used to be called Top Gun but Cedar Fair didn't have licensing rights to keep the name so it was changed to Afterburn. Same story with Flight Deck @ KI and Flight Deck @ CGA. The Paramount parks had a contract with Coke I believe that Cedar Fair is still waiting for it to fizzle (pun intended) out.
  11. Looooooooong overdue. KI and CP have the ability to make a fortune. Now I just wonder if they'll offer different levels of LoQ similar to SF.....
  12. Seeing the safety guide (sign) and actually abiding by it are 2 TOTALLY different things. Not to mention the operator is also supposed to be the the 2nd line of defense to make sure safety procedures are being adhered to.
  13. Superman:Krypton Coaster alone is worth a visit to the park. Hands down the best Floorless I've been on. If that same chick from summer of '08 is still there checking restraints by herself you won't have longer than a 20minute wait.
  14. It says "New for 2011" which I very well know doesn't mean sh*t but GP will be like OMFG it's open! LOL
  15. Don't be fooled! Knott's is advertising Windseeker as if it's open also........
  16. I rode DL on its last season and I'll admit it was one of the smoother Arrow's I had been on. Unfortunately it couldn't be relocated cause the track was welded together as opposed to being bolted. Not to mention it had a tunnel before the lift and that instantly screams quality
  17. That thing just looks like an airtime machine....unfortunately I don't hear too much about it. Is La Ronde even worth visiting?
  18. ^^ 1st - They wouldn't have to purchase it as they already own it 2nd - Said loop is gone 3rd - Yea that is funny
  19. ^Yea.......it's being maintained by Six Flags. All joking aside it's just been in a lengthy rehab which unfortunately crippled the ride to 1 train operation during summer so far. BUT it's better to have it open with 1 train as opposed to not open at all.
  20. You're more likely to get injured/killed driving to a park than getting injured/killed on one of their attractions. The news always puts a spin on their reports to catch peoples interest that don't know any better. I remember 3 or 4 years ago a guy lost his prosthetic leg on Dueling Dragons and the news headlines read "Man loses leg on Islands Of Adventure Roller Coaster." Now technically this is true however they could have worded it "Man loses Prosthetic leg on Coaster......" It's all a play on words......
  21. When I was checking restraints at Perilous.... Guest - "Do you really get wet?" Me - "No, the water is there for decoration"
  22. Screamin' still offers some very nice airtime just before the loop. I totally forgot about Perilous Plunge. In the last row it offers some INSANE airtime!
  23. ^People often forget it also cost money to remove a ride.......
  24. ^It was even better before the MCBR started bringing the train to a screeching halt.
