^I hear what you're saying and unfortunately these scenarios can and do happen to any park. The rides not opening with the park lies on the park I agree. One thing to keep in mind is that when Space, BTM, Matterhorn or Screamin'' go down throughout the day, 75% of the time it's caused by a slow moving guest.
You're really comparing 1 day at Disney to a train rehab that took 4 1/2 months on a coaster???
Now granted it is better to have the ride open with 1 train than not open at all HOWEVER the planning should be as such that 1 train operation doesn't happen at all.
^ Yes like lack of planning. In all seriousness though there's something to be said for purchasing extra trains so capacity is not affected while vehicles are undergoing annual maintenance. Busch has 4 trains for Montu, and Kumba so there's always 1 train being worked on yet the ride can still run at full capacity. California Screamin' has 7 trains so technically 2 trains can be in rehab at a time and the ride can still run 5 trains.
Granted I don't work for Six Flags so can't say for sure what the delay was but based on previous years just looks like the usual poor planning and lack of maintenance budget.
^^Looks to be at least 6 cables attached to carriage so the likelihood of all those cables failing is nearly impossible.
Still scary to think about....

Condors are easily Huss' best creations. Too bad they are an endangered species.
Hershey Park's was running great when I rode it back in '09.

^All bumper cars that I've ridden have said sign in multiple locations. Not to mention most (not all but most) operators say "no head-on collisions" in their spiel prior to starting the ride. All parks don't do this I'm sure but the majority do.
This opens up the door for many MORE frivolous lawsuits. Next will be some tool suing a park because they went upside down on a coaster and got a headache along with the usual "pain and suffering."
Well said Robb. I'm happy the manufacturers and parks take the extra time needed to make sure everything is operating as intended. Not to mention if you go to the park and the ride's closed that's more of a reason to visit the park again.
