  1. X2 is rougher than Viper. ^Exactly.......Viper is a people eater with 3 trains. With a theoretical of 1700pph that's higher than any B&M.
  2. So because you had a couple bad rides it's not popular???? Viper is by far the most reliable ride in that park. 2 holes in your theory: Flashback and Psyclone
  3. The 3 that gave me OMFG airtime: 1-Nitro 2-Steel Eel 3- S:ROS @ SFA
  4. Looks a like a worn wheel was to blame...........damn track bolts Apparently being stopped on the lift is a "traumatic experience"........ Article
  5. ^^Couple tidbits of advice: - Ride Xcelerator early cause in the afternoon the heat causes excessive amounts of downtime - Don't expect to ride Windseeker - Knotts.com has pretty good deals. I think Burger King may have coupons which could possibly save you a couple bucks. & ^What he said.... - Have fun
  6. To be fair...........doesn't get much more preferred than parking inside the park!
  7. Probably the road wheels hitting the track bolts
  8. Goliath has been cursed with lift issues since it opened.
  9. Breathtaking photos! Definitely my fav...
  10. Did you hear that from your friend that was an intern at B&M???.......
  11. B&M's "standard" (invert, hyper) trains have the electrical contact connectors so the ride computer will not allow the train to dispatch unless all restraints are lowered to the correct position. Flyers use this same principal however there's more systems being monitored than just the restraints. The locking mechanisms that lock the train into the flight position are also monitored as well as vest/belt locking system. In the images below you see the amount of sensors and electrical connections that are inside of a B&M flyer train. Source: Towers Almanac In regards to on-board-audio, in addition to the trains being charged overnight in their maintenance bays, most loading platforms have electrical bus bars that charge the train while it's loading/unloading.
  12. If you think it's unsafe then don't ride it!! Simple as that.
  13. Single rider lines ONLY work if there's a grouper in the station that controls the flow of guests at the loading gates and groups single riders according to odd numbered parties. If there's no grouper then yes it will be a cluster.
  14. ^You mean to tell me that Silver Bullet was not cutting edge enough for you?!?!
  15. Great shots! Thanks for posting.
  16. Realistically speaking, that's not even that much time or many cycles. Consider 20 cycles an hour and you could get that done overnight in 5-6 hours. True, but keep in mind the trains aren't the only thing that's being tested. Then once the ride is handed over to the park they need to do their own series of testing. What tests Six Flags does exactly I don't know. Plus they need to train the crew that will be operating the ride in addition to their maintenance team receiving some sort of training from Intamin's engineers as well. I'm just hoping that it opens sooner than later. I can only imagine the line GL will have when it does open.
  17. ^No idea........it's at the manufacturer's discretion. Plus keep in mind DOSH still needs to inspect the ride before GP can ride it. If DOSH finds any issues they will not sign off on the ride until the park has made necessary corrections. I know 1st hand that when Sierra Sidewinder opened at KBF, the engineers from Mack did 100 cycles on each train before handing it over to the park.
  18. ^Most manufacturers will want a certain amount of cycles put on the ride by their programming/engineering staff before they hand it over to the park so they can start their own series of tests. Amount of time varies but if any issues arise during testing that will obviously delay projected opening dates.
  19. ^I'd say it should take less than that. I'm actually looking forward to riding it as it will provide some nice views.
  20. Waiting until they have a full cycle may not be such a bad idea. There's a lot of coasters/flat rides that need to have a certain number of riders and/or balanced load before dispatching. I can't imagine Cedar Point gets so dead to the point where they'd be struggling to fill seats on WS.
  21. Giovanola manufactured track and trains for Intamin. This is why you'll notice early Intamins, IE: Flashback @ SFMM and Batman: The Escape @ SF Astroworld looked like B&Ms we see being built today.
  22. Disney tried that already..... In all seriousness Matt will probably cut the trash can budget in half. ^Not to mention taxes and what not are lower in other states thus why a lot of businesses are leaving California. I see CF's bland park operation being shaken up a bit. Looking forward to it.
  23. ^Just as bad as the "OMG I'm not riding Xcelerator cause the tower sways!!"
  24. CP and KI alone can make a fortune off of QBots. The system will pay for itself in 2 maybe 3 seasons I would imagine.
  25. In a nutshell: Space, BTM, Matterhorn, California Screamin will backup and go down. Space for example only has a certain amount of blocks in the loading platform and if they have a slow moving guests the trains will back up in the station. Eventually the trains that are cycling will stop in brake zones inside the ride building causing the ride to go down. There's a lot more technicalities than that but that's the basic principal. Back on topic...... Any Green Lantern testing videos surfaced yet?
