You're right. By having the rental fee waived you get a $15 discount.

^^^ I forgot about that. That hill did have some good air. That and the helix at the end were the best parts, but the helix did have some really bad headbanging which greatly overshadowed it's good qualities in my opinion. ^ You didn't miss much. Flashback and Psyclone were both junk. I'm glad they are both gone. Especially since the awesome Terminator now stands in Psyclone's old spot.

Alton Towers Discussion Thread

I thought the same thing when I watched the video. I'm not impressed. All this hype for a 60 foot coaster with a drop section which doesn't drop very far and a short, mild backwards section. It looks like something I would put in the category of only ride if the line is really short. -
I don't recall any airtime on Flashback but those quick drops and sharp, banked turns made it a fairly intense coaster. It's too bad all that headbanging ruined it because I feel that it had the potential to be a good ride. I remember hitting my head on every turn for the entire coaster. I agree that the restraints were a large part of the problem. They were very hard, like the ones currently on Revolution, but the headbanging on Flashback was much more forceful than on Revolution.

Best days to visit Disney, MM, Universal 4/1-4/5?
austinlee replied to kerricksasaki's topic in Ask Alvey
I agree. During Spring Break the parks will probably be crowded no matter which days you go to each one. Shuffling the dates around probably won't make much difference in this case. Avoiding Saturday is a good idea most of the time and especially during Spring Break, but the lines will probably be long either way. I would suggest getting a Flash Pass at SFMM too. -
^^ Judgment calls make sports unfair when they are incorrect and there is no way to change them. Last years playoffs are a perfect example. I would rather have all the calls be as accurate as possible to keep sports fair.

I actually like the shaking on Tatsu. It adds to the intensity. Flashback would have been a good ride if not for the headbanging. I rode it on a few visits the year it opened but never again after that because it gave me terrible headaches, including a migraine which ruined the second half of one of my visits that year. Flashback and Psyclone are the only two coasters I have ever chose to stop riding due to the pain they inflicted. I stopped riding Psyclone after it's first year too due to the back pain it gave me.

I have a pass and have been going to the park on a regular basis since 1983, but I still try to ride every open coaster on every visit because I still enjoy all of them. I stay from opening to closing on every visit too. If a coaster is open and I don't ride it at least once I feel like the visit was incomplete. I guess I've been lucky since I have not had problems with headaches. I used to have motion sickness but I outgrew it in my late teens. Even when I had motion sickness as long as I took a dramamine before I got to the park I had no problems with it. At KBF I get there late and/or leave early on most visits but that's because I don't enjoy the park as much as SFMM. Also, since KBF is open daily year-round, most of my visits are on school days when the park is near empty. You can ride the heck out of everything in the park in 4 hours or less when it's like that. Edit. ^ I have noticed the vibration on Tatsu in the Pretzel loop every time I have rode it. I have never noticed it anywhere else on the ride.

^^ You're right about the 15 team issue. They could solve that by playing one interleague series at all times. ^ I think replay should be expanded to include safe/out calls and fair/foul calls. I would like to see replay used to make the games as fair as possible using modern technology.

Screamer caught me off guard too. It's not much to look at but is a very fun and intense coaster. I did not expect it to be as great of a ride as it is.

I still try to ride every coaster on every visit. I still enjoy all of them, some more than others of course, but there aren't any which I would purposely choose not to ride anymore. I do agree that the OTSR's on Revolution are horrible and really need to be removed. I liked the ride much more without them but I still enjoy it enough to keep riding it. Generally I try to hit every coaster on my first time around the park and later in the day if there is not much time left I only ride my favorites, which means Revolution, Ninja, Superman, Gold Rusher and Colossus may be skipped if I have been on them earlier in the day.

I don't like the idea of rotating divisions. I would rather see some minor tweaking such as putting Houston in the AL West or putting Colorado in the AL West and moving Houston to the NL West. This would create six divisions with five teams each which I think would be more fair than the current alignment with six teams in the NL Central and only four in the AL West.

Yeah, I didn't know until I got there. It wasn't even posted on their website. When I walked up to the ticket counter they told me they don't let adults in without kids. I told the cashier I wanted to ride the coaster and she asked me if I was in a coaster club. When I said yes she asked if I had a membership card then let me buy a ticket when I showed her my card. The coasters (rode the kiddie coaster too) weren't very good anyway, but it still sucks that you can't get credits you would like to get.

That happened to me this year too. I had been using the same picture on my SFMM pass since 2006 and got a message which said I could not renew online because my picture was expired.

SFMM Photo TR + Updates! 2/15/10

Great job, very cool video. It makes me look forward to my next visit even more than I already was. I didn't think that was possible. -
^^^^^ I'm going that week, most likely on 3/25. I think crowds will be light that week since most schools are still in. The city of Orange has Spring Break from 3/29-4/9. I'm think most of Orange County is off at that time. I have been to the park either the week before or the week after Spring Break before and crowds have been very light every time.

Here are my top eight coasters of the 55 I have rode. 1. X2 2. Tatsu 3. Goliath (SFMM) 4. Deja Vu (SFMM) 5. Riddler's Revenge 6. Batman: The Ride (SFMM) 7. Scream 8. Viper (SFMM) X2 is the most innovative coaster I've ever been on and is my all time favorite. Viper is still one of my favorites and has stood the test of time very well in my opinion. B&M has my four of my top eight. Arrow has two of my top eight, including my favorite. I guess that makes it somewhat of a tie.
