  1. Good start. A very, very good start. However this park could really benefit from some custom scenery, especially the coasters.
  2. I'm sorry, but It's true. I really haven't found the time with school and everything to make an official final update....So I'm afraid to announce this, but TGA is done. I want to thank ALL of you for the support that you've given me in making this park. I am really, really satisfied with the park and I believe it is my best work.
  3. I love the mine train, definitely gives that "one of the very first steel coasters" vibe.' Overall, I think that the aura that the park gives is very Cedar Fair, much more than mine Keep up the great work.
  4. I guess I could be prejudiced in the fact that I could never build anything in NL1. But all of that put aside, I really think that TPS is the product for me and I can't wait until I get my boxed copy whenever it comes out (I pledged 50 bucks)
  5. I'm sorry, but...what?!? What's so complicated about a control point curve?!? I will give No Limits 2 ALL of the props for being one of the most realistic, detailed theme park/roller coaster simulators out there, It's just that the sheer amount of complexity just sucks the fun out of the experience. I like to make realistic parks and coasters as much as the next guy, but I want to have fun doing it.
  6. I already sort of knew that it wasn't going to be as easy as RCT3, but I am SO DISGUSTINGLY HAPPY to find out that it's easier than No Limits, especially NL2. That has been my fear ever since this was announced. With No Limits 2, basically all you have to do is take whatever notion of simplicity that you might expect from it and just flush it down the toilet.
  7. After finally experiencing TPS, Was it hard like NL? Or easy like RCT3? I'm dying to know!
  8. intimidator no have loppy lop so it SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKKKKKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS and shockwave is da bestest ride ever cuz it have a sooper happy fun loppy loppy lopppppyyyyy lop and u stand durin the ride liek how kool is dat?????????!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111oneeleventy one Whew....I'm going to go and try and regain some IQ...
  9. What a shitty attitude to have. I simply don't "get" the hate from the NL2 people over this game. In a genre when there are practically ZERO options, you guys should be happy as hell to have TWO games in development that look like they will be supported from here on out by the developers and the community. Think about it. That's like being a roller coaster fan and there only being ONE roller coaster in the world and then people being pissed off because someone decided to build a second one. The negativity over there actually being another amusement park game besides No Limits is just so incredibly dumb I can't even fully put it into words. Anyone who is a theme park sim fan should be ecstatic over the release of Theme Park Studio, regardless if you're a No LImits fan or not. People have been tearing RCT3 a new one for a decade now. Not just No Limits fans, but fans of RCT1 and 2. It didn't stop me from making parks and enjoying playing the game. I, for one never got into No Limits. People have made some amazing coasters using it, but I was never able to take the time out and learn how to model a coaster by myself. It just seems like a chore. TPS seems to finally be the divine medium between realism and fun
  10. February, 2013 Kelly's Coasters: Post 36 Hi guys, I think I should keep you updated on what's going on seeing as how I haven't posted since Exciter was announced. Get ready for a little bit of bad news....I'm not going to post on this blog anymore. Or at least not as often. You see, I had recently been promoted in my current job. Sadly, my new job is in the company headquarters all the way in Wyoming. This means that I'm going to have to move away from my current home in Knoxville, TN all the way to Cheyenne, WY. I'm going to be paid much more than I am right now but the upshot of this whole thing is that Tennessee's Great America will no longer be my home park. As you can tell, I'm pretty upset This park has held so many memories for me throughout the 14 years I've been going there almost every year. It was the place where my sister, Sara lost her fear of roller coasters, it was there that I went on one a coaster so X-Treme that it would give the Crystal Beach Cyclone and Skyrush at Hershey a run for their money, it was there that I convinced one of my friends that were terrified of coasters to learn how to love them....It blew Disney World in the water for me, Just nothing but thrills and good times. I'm going to be moving to Wyoming at the end of 2013 going into 2014, hopefully between now and then, I will go one more time to Tennessee's Great America to ride Exciter and to post a final Photo TR as a way to say goodbye to Tennessee's Great America..... I'll miss you so much, TGA....Thank you for the memories...
  11. If Hurler was not trimmed so badly after the first drop, I'd like it a lot. But until that happens, Rebel Yell and Grizzly are collectively one billion times better than Hurler. Anaconda isn't a "bad" ride, the loop/immelmann combo is awesome, the double corkscrew gives me great hang-time, it's just those two strange helices and that curved drop in between the two that if you're not prepared for it, KILLS your neck.
  12. So basically once B&M and Giovanola split, Gio gave them permission to used the tubular box track? I got to admit, it is weird knowing that Intamin/Giovanola started the tubular box track first. Normally Intamins are identified by the latticework track (that Mack and Zierier are now using) At least that's how I did it for a while....
  13. I know, I have no idea what Ron Toomer was thinking with those two weird helices after the brake run. On the flip side, the corkscrews gave me pretty good hang-time.
  14. Christmas Day, 2012 Kelly's Coasters: Post 35 B&M WING COASTER ANNOUNCED FOR 2013!!! As I expected, one of my Christmas presents came from my home park! Wow...so...It's a wing coaster! Sounds cool to me! Anyway, I've been meaning to post this since my other December update, but even thought it wasn't formally announced by TGA...Fireball is getting a MUCH needed makeover which includes new trains built by Mauer-Sohne, a re-tracking in certain places by Vekoma, a new logo, and a new paint job! This all looks so cool! Anyway, Merry Christmas to all my viewers! Kelly out!
  15. Wow...I just got the full version and it surpasses NL1 in almost every way. Because I didn't really follow NL2, news-wise, I did not expect that the flat rides would be rideable, so that was an added and extremely pleasant surprise. I LOVE the idea of having more than one track, and hopefully soon. People will have the gumption to actually make full-scale parks with NL2
  16. We're embracing our coaster geekiness
  17. December, 2012 Kelly's Coasters: Post 34 COASTER TRACK SPOTTED! Hello! Today is December 1st, and I know that TGA is going to unveil "Project 13" on Christmas day. However, a HUGE discovery has been made at the park around Thanksgiving where Roar once stood and let me tell you, you are going to love it! What is THAT trying to hide behind Hang-Time? Looks to me like a lone piece of B&M-style track! So from the looks of things, Tennessee's Great America is going to even out the score by adding a third B&M coaster. One of the reasons why I love Tennessee's Great America so much is because it appeals to fans of both B&M and Intamin (I love both) and it looks like it'll be the case even more next year when "Project 13" opens! They cleared a huge amount of land around the area where Roar was, spanning all the way back across the rear of Fireball and to Planet Snoopy. It appears to me that they're keeping the giant fake mountain so it could be part of the ride, like a tunnel or something. Now I know what you might be asking, "What kind of B&M is it going to be?" They already have an lnvert and a floorless, so lets cross that off the list. It wouldn't really make sense to have a B&M hyper and an Intamin hyper in the same park, so there goes that. B&M hasn't made a standing coaster in ages, so that seems out of the question. A B&M sitdown like Kumba....seems unlikely. Seeing as how they already have Fireball, a traditional sit-down looper. It seems to me that the only B&M models that make sense in this park is either a vertical-drop coaster, or one of the new "wing coasters"....Dollywood opened one this year called the Wild Eagle. I rode it and it was pretty cool, so if TGA gets one, no complaints from me. I've never been on a diving coaster before, so if TGA opens one, it'll be an all-new experience for me! What do you guys think?
  18. Meanwhile, this jetcoaster is in North Korea.
  19. Best: Skyrush just exceeded my expectations from the first time riding it. Better than Steel Force in almost every way possible, and I LOVE Steel Force. It's almost on Intimidator 305-level. Worst: I expected Mean Streak to be bad, but not as bad as my ride on it. Imagine someone holding you down and punching you with all of their force in the back. That's how the first drop to Mean Streak felt in the back seat. Also, you may find this weird, but I found Shockwave at KD to be not as bad as everyone says it is. Sure, it's not smooth by any stretch of the imagination, but the first time I rode it, I was like...."Okay, a little shaky, but not bad..."
  20. November, 2012 Kelly's Coasters: Post 33 DEMOLITION OF ROAR So...this is it. Roar has been completely removed from Tennessee's Great America. For some, it's Rest In Peace, for others it's Rot In Hell, but for me...It's neither. Roar was NOT a great roller coaster and for the past few trips to TGA, it was on the absolute bottom of my list of coasters to ride. But in another respect, I'm really sad to see it go. Coasters4U posted a timeline of pictures documenting the removal of the coaster, let's take a look! As you can see here, by the time Halloween Haunt began, they already began to take apart some sections of the coaster, like the re-profiled straight part after the first drop. By around mid-October, the entire oval section of the ride was completely gone. Soon enough, they began to dismantle a large portion of the lift hill, but then stopped. Leaving only part of the lift hill, the drop, and the turnaround area behind it leading to the block brakes. The reason why they did that was because on Halloween night, Tennessee's Great America organized a Las Vegas-style implosion of the ride with a fireworks display and a countdown! This obviously, is a pic of the fireworks display.... And we all know what happened next..... So anyway, Roar is no more (lol that rhymed XD) and I've been hearing rumors that the project they have in store for 2013 will be announced on December 25th, Christmas day. Let's hope the world dosen't end before then! (I'm kidding, I don't believe in that "doomsday 2012" shiz.)
  21. Adventureland Long Island: 10 minutes Coney Island: 30-40 minutes Six Flags Great Adventure: 1 hour, 30 minutes Dorney Park: 2 hours Hershey Park: 3 hours Kings Dominion 7 hours
  22. Wildcat at Hershey is fun but it could benefit from some Topper Track.
  23. Dude...that's pretty cool. I wonder where the screams and the other sound effects came from?
  24. Just downloaded the Demo...it takes a bit longer to load than NL1, but the HD graphics work like a dream on my new PC
  25. I don't know if you know this or not, but RCDB now considers the batwing inversion to be a "pretzel knot" like on Moonsault Scramble.
