  1. Today would have been Lagoon's Opening Day. This park was always elusive to me as we always went to Salt Lake City during the winter for skiing, never the summer! I finally visited in 2015 and filmed this video as Robb had broken his ankle the day before! The park was 'interesting'. Some really interesting rides and operations and not quite as 'friendly and fun' as I was expecting from Utah. This was the highlight of our day, Cannibal! Your thoughts?
  2. ^I lived next to the GIANT corporate headquarters for Princess in Valencia for 10 years and have friends who work there. There's also a large base in Miami for RCCL. I don't know about Carnival. I said that the ships are all international's.
  3. Just because their ships are registered in another country (to get around a bunch of tax/employment/environmental laws) doesn't mean they don't also employ a ton of Americans. I'm not saying what they do is right, but it doesn't change the fact that they do employ THOUSANDS of Americans all over the country in corporate, call centers, travel agents, etc. Hopefully something is worked out to at least help them a bit.
  4. I'm always disappointed when I click on this thread after there's been a new post and it's not some horrifying accident or shady business deal! That being said, this ride at this park scares me.
  5. Continuing our virtual trip of parks that should be opening... Tomorrow Kings Dominion should have opened for the season. This one hurts a bit as I REALLY like this park. I305, Twisted Timbers, Flight of Fear, Avalanche are all great coasters. The park has some shade and decent food options too. I do miss Volcano though. Such a unique ride with so much potential. Let's ride it together on the computer! What do you like best about Kings Dominion?
  6. Celebrity is certainly posh and will have less kids but it skews a little older. You may want to try Royal Caribbean or NCL. Also, try to do a 4 or 7 day cruise as the 3 day cruises tend to attract a more crazy party group of people.
  7. I thought I read that there was an IOC meeting today to try and figure out what to do about the Olympics. Even if Japan is doing great, I don't see how they could bring in people from countries around the world by July. I feel SOOOO bad for Japan as I know how important this was both financially and spiritually for them.
  8. I'm guessing the virus was the nail in Indiana Beaches coffin. =(
  9. ^No where near those. I mean, it's boring and doesn't do anything, but doesn't try to kill you like those other ones!
  10. Nagashima has reopened! Yay! This is good news and gives those of us in other countries hope that there is a light at the end of the closure tunnel. https://www.nagashima-onsen.co.jp/resort/info/2019-ncov.html There are of course some special restrictions and procedures in place but it's a step in the right direction.
  11. I've started what I hope will be a short series over on our Facebook page featuring videos from parks that should have been opening. Yesterday I featured Fury 325 at Carowinds as their Season Pass Holder Preview Day should have been today. Today I'm featuring a reason to be happy that parks delayed opening, Grizzly at CGA! Check them out to keep you occupied!
  12. Hey everyone! Some of you may remember we LOVE Animal Crossing and the new version comes out tonight/tomorrow! Feel free to post about the game, your friend codes, and all the fun stuff we love about Animal Crossing! My friend code is 3795-7922-0010
  13. Tomorrow was supposed to be Carowinds Season Pass Member Preview Day. Obviously that's been cancelled, but you can still virtually ride Fury 325 (and all of their other coasters!) on our YouTube channel! I'll be sharing videos for the next few weeks based on what should have been park opening days, season pass days, etc. Who was planning to go?
  14. Very odd about Chessington opening. I read a lot of British news sites to try and avoid all my info coming from US media and it seems like you guys are about to get pretty bad over there!
  15. I maintain that they're only still open because the owners are hardcore Trump republicans and believe the virus is a democratic hoax!
  16. Interesting take. Robb and I were just talking about this. I think that this 'shut down' is affecting people quite differently. Those of us who live in touristy places or big cities see DRASTIC changes. Those of us who travel a lot, are seeing tons of cancellations. More 'average' Americans (and that is not derogatory at all!) may not see big differences in their lives.
  17. So I'm assuming the virus will give them a reason to still not open it this year!
  18. Let's please try to keep things civil in here. Keep the politics and conspiracy's out. Let's stick with the parks, actual facts, and how it's affecting you personally. Thanks!
  19. ^Talking to various European coaster people in the know, there is absolutely some shady stuff going on!
  20. Sorry to all of our European friends. Not all of us blame you guys for the outbreaks here!!!
  21. Ugh. The Japanese are going to lose their shit over not being able to properly say goodbye to some of the events/shows ending!!! I feel it was probably the right decision to extend a bit (like USJ is also doing) but I'm bummed about pushing all of the new stuff back as well. It would be silly to close for two weeks and reopen when stuff is still messed up and then end up having to close back down again. China has shown us that this can be brought under control and get better, it just takes time.
  22. ^That's not "getting real", it's cost cutting. Buffets can easily stay open by adding staff to serve the food to guests. This is what the cruise ships do when there is any sort of outbreak (pre-corona!) with their buffets. Vegas was hurting way before Corona Virus was a thing and this is just putting the nail in the coffin. Most Vegas buffets don't make money, they're there as an amenity to guests. Shutting them down saves a bit of cash and they know it.
  23. ^WTF!?! This park is really just trolling us at this point. So dumb.
  24. France has also banned gatherings of 1000 people and Disneyland Paris is open. It seems that the operative phrase is “confined space” and how you define it. This is a very important definition. Remember our good friend Mr. Sun kills a lot of crap out there and that's how places like Disneyland Paris are staying open because they're not one big room/arena/venue/convention center/etc. Now, trying to keep people at arms length away in any place is not truly feasible so we'll see what happens next.
  25. ^I think it's a testament to the ridiculous USJ pricing! Glad you're surviving though!
