I would go to Europa Park several times before going to Port Aventura. I feel that Port Aventura is overrated. It's a nice park, but can be really terrible at times due to operations and clientel.
My personal favorite in Europe is Europa Park.
Honorable mentions to:
Alton Towers
Heide
Liseberg
Grona Lund
Mirabilandia
Hansa
Basically Europe (if you include the UK and Scandinavia) has a ton of amazing awesome parks, and even some parks that might not be amazing but have amazing rides!
^I agree. You also have to remember on these buyouts not every attraction, shop, restaurant, etc. is open which forces people on fewer rides and makes the park seem more busy. I've been to a few buyouts at the park and they can get VERY crowded.
Eh, don't worry too much about the details! You'll get in, ride, have some fun, and do it all for a great cause!
The thing to focus on right now is raising more money! Hit up coworkers, friends, family, girl scouts (what? they get our money for cookies!!!), etc.
Exactly! We don't live in some dictatorship or socialist regime. You can pick and choose what you spend your money on. Fly first class to the park and stay in a motel 6, fly coach and stay onsite, you choose what to spend your disposable income on, going to parks is already a choice, now you can decide on your exact experience once there!
^It's not a scam at all, but it is money making. We live in a free market, people will pay more and less money for differing experiences. It also sounds like your friends are exaggerating quite a bit that it 'doubled' everyone's wait on every ride.
^^We discussed this several pages ago. Very odd indeed!
That's cool they're doing the previews that benefit the Children's Hospital. I remember that's how I went to DCA for the first time!
I don't even really believe that explanation about the sign only meaning when the car comes back to the station upside down or 'not balanced'. First off, if they're trying to avoid that, they still need to try and make it not flip during the course which means the same thing!!!! Secondly, we witnessed tons of crazy off balanced re-entries into the station at Grona Lund and all it took were the ops going over and righting the car. Someone of course had to be paying attention as the car could not advance until it was righted, but this was simply done with proper staffing levels.
If you've never been on a coaster like that before then you'll get those butterflies in your stomach feeling for sure.
If you want to minimize that feeling sit in the middle of the train.
