Much along the lines of said comment earlier in this thread... When I was younger and did not understand that lines got shorter I would often wait far to long for rides. I feel like I'm at an AA meeting....my Name is Brian Bass...and I once waited a little over 4 hours for Soarin (I know, I know). I have never waited that long for anything else...and for a roller coaster I'm not sure I'd wait much longer. I went skydiving for the first time the other day and did how ever end up waiting, after it was all said and done, roughly 5 hours. Now a lot of the wait was getting prepped and all of that. It was totally worth it.

^^ I would also agree. I would much rather see Raptor go. I do enjoy raptor but not nearly as much as other people, and I absolutely love Mantis. I've been on a few stand ups but mantis is one of my favorite. I thought it was well received by enthusiasts but over the last few years of blogs and websites...I see it is not. I would hate to see it go, and I love it's tight and intense layout. I liked to compare it to Chang (Green Lantern) for I feel Chang was indeed a stretched out version of Mantis. Both B&Ms at the Point do get some long lines so I don't see either leaving. A bit off topic but I'd rather see DT get the boot even if it adds variety to their collection. -
Erik & Smisty's Florida Oddventures

Nice! I went to the Titanic Experience in Pigeon Forge, looks like the exhibits share very similar qualities. I've always passed the one here in Orlando but could never bring my self to pay for it. Nice update, and it is a really good museum. My passenger died, along with all the family...we were 3rd class. -
Just went skydiving for the first time today, what an incredible rush! I think I might become addicted to that. I want to do it again immediately

The Off-Season Survival Thread
BBparks57 replied to ernierocker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I usually run over to Universal to get on the Hulk and Mummy. That keeps me occupied until I can get back out to bigger more thrilling parks! Although with the move coming up next year, I sure am going to miss the year round parks of Orlando! Usually school got me through the off season, but now hopefully a job will. -

It seems these rumors just keep on lasting. I have enjoyed the additions recently...although I am sad to see the speed slides go, there was some good air time on those. That new paint makes it look better at least. Now if they could only finish the paint job on MF. Soak City really needed the update, but again it will be very interesting to see what comes to the point over the next few years. After all the Wooden coaster rumors (I particularly like the one of it wrapping around Space Spiral) and Dive machines rumors, I shall be interested to see what really happens. -
The "I just did this in a Theme Park" Thread
BBparks57 replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
During my time on the College program, I spent a lot of time in the parks, but one day I tried to hit a roller coaster in every park. I started at Universal.... HRRR and Mummy-UO Hulk-IoA Manta and Kraken-SW BTMR-MK Expedition Everest-DAK (At this point it started to rain/lightning and I was the last train out) Rock N' Roller coaster-DHS I did not make it anywhere after this (to celebration or to Epcot) But I had a great time, unfortunately I had no riding buddies for this wonderful excursion, but it was a blast. -
I had a wonderful time attending opening night, can't wait to go back in a few hours. Like stated in all the reviews, Forsaken and Winters Night are incredible just to walk through. The biggest surprise of the night for me was definitely The In-between. I loved every second of that house from how it looked to the scares. The only big let down for me was Bill and Tedds...if it's true it is a new director it really showed. I had a few good laughs but over all disappointing. Not to knock the event at all, it was awesome, because the atmosphere is so great!

My buddy just texted me about this and I had to see if it was true. Came here first for I figured you would already have the article and glad to see it is! Unfortunately I couldn't be less excited. Dak was my least favorite park in the beginning but it has really grown on me. I was hoping for a new good update and this is not what I expected. I'm sure it will go over well, but I just think it's a very interesting choice and not my cup of tea. Although I do look forward to any type of new rides that may come along with it.

I have been the last 2 years, and I have loved the event. This year looks awesome, and there are quite a few houses and scarezones that really intrigue me. I honestly can't wait to see them all, the only one I'm not excited for is "The Thing" but thats more because I hate that they made another film. So anybody want to do any kind of meet up this year? I'll be there opening weekend for sure!

Bought my HHN FFP pass today, This will be my 3rd year attending, can't wait! My g/f got a job coordinating for houses and scare zones...It gives me a reason to visit more this year The recent pictures look amazing, but I'm sure after these next few days we shall have more to talk about. Would I be getting my hopes up if I was wishing for the Rocky Tribute again

Strongest/Most forcefull Launch
BBparks57 replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would have to agree, Volcano, WT, and Maverick. I love Mavericks launch...especially when everything in the tunnel is working. I did have a question though, something that has been bothering me for awhile now. A few years ago I noticed what looked like LSM's on Rock N' Roller coaster, yet a a catch car comes flying back after launching each train. I always assumed it was hydraulics of some sort, but then noticed the white bars. I originally thought LSM and LIM worked similar. Why utilize the catch car with the LSMs? I thought those eliminate the need for something having to actually attach to the train to launch it. I hope my question is clear enough, thank you! -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
BBparks57 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I believe it's been posted already, but the SkyCoaster in FunSpot (Old town) is still one of the few rides left that just takes me off my guard completely. I just did it for the first time in a few years tonight and I really thought that I'd be over the anxiety, but going up I was freaking out. Seeing the Disney fireworks from the top was pretty awesome, but the moment right before pulling that cord is still one of the worst for me! -
Wow, thanks for this awesome look! I have been to most water parks in the area, but for some reason Aquatica is the only one I have not made it out to. I have contemplated going to visit my g/f there, who was recently hired on as a life guard, to check the park out. Now after seeing this I want to go! I imagine you go through that dolphin tank pretty quickly if you are not sitting up, but the rest of the slides look great...along with the atmosphere! Thanks for the pictures I really can't wait to check it out now!

All of these are some really great suggestions, and it really is up to you how much you do bring and what all you want to do. I love take my 7D to the parks, but usually it comes down to whether or not I want to downsize. When it comes to a park that I rarely get to visit, I'll usually limit my self to my small bag which is big enough to hold my camera and potentially another lens. I usually end up doing what cfc suggested, do what I want, then run around the park for an hour or so just taking photos and videos. Now if it's a park you have the ability to travel to quite often, then I feel bringing the whole collection down is a great opportunity, which is when I'll bring my large bag with all of my lenses. Renting one of the larger "secure box's" is always a great idea, but again...it's all up to you. I also like to locker hop, but that is best for parks that allow free lockers for limited times. Goodluck and I can't wait to see what you bring back! Leaving it in the station is always a risk, but a lot easier.

Wow, this is very interesting. Just got a few more rides on it over the last few weeks and boy do I love it. I love the ride in its entirety, but I do agree it has it's cons. I was really excited to finally ride an MS Xcar styled coaster, but maybe this design was just to big for those vehicles. I love the smaller, unique styles and I hope to ride one someday. This is quite an interesting move if it does happen and I look forward to the result. i do love those lap bars though. If we lose these trains, are we going to lose those awesome lights? I sure hope not...it really makes the nighttime rides awesome!

Wow, I was not aware how much more difficult that one is to spot than the Kong statue on Mummy at USO. I mean I didn't see the kong statue the first or second time I rode it, but I was also very distracted. Again, it's not really easy to tell from the picture, but it seems the King Kong statue is significantly larger and more out in the open. Random discussion but cool, I would love to get the USH Mummy some day.

Heading to Marlyand tomorrow after school, and to survive the off season I'll probably hit up the local disney/universal parks if I have anytime, school is getting a lot busier. Enjoy the concert! -
Magic Kingdom film

I remember hearing a very brief (as in a paragraph) announcement about this early october, and I'm glad there is more released on it. It sounds awesome, I can't wait! Between this and the Haunted Mansion movie by Del Toro I'm pretty excited. -
I remember seeing one of these things on a Travel Channel special, had video of it running through and talking about the device. It was specifically the ride WildFire at SDC. I had forgotten about it, I thought it was very interesting when I saw it. www.rcdb.com/720.htm?p=14056

The WDW Disney College Program
BBparks57 replied to jackskellington101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Congrats and good luck to those of you who applied or are applying. I was in the program last year from feb 2nd 2009-Jan1st 2010. I spent all year there, and I actually just drove by Patterson today! It was definitely one of the best times of my life. First thing you should know is it is a job. There are long hours, and a lot of responsibility, so try and keep that in mind. Aside from that, the people you meet and the stories you'll get are pretty amazing. I really enjoyed my time there! The apartments are a little annoying if your not used to a roommate sharing your actual bedroom with you, but I was used to it. Take advantage of all your perks...the discounts, the Maingates, pick up shifts/parade control. Meet as many people as you can, it's one of the best places/jobs to network in. Have fun, hopefully I'll see you around there! -
Just got back from another solid night at HHN...wasn't planning on going but my friend convinced me to go. I am heading back on sunday with some people who have never been, so that should be pretty fun. Saw the Menace part of the magic show and was not to impressed. Maybe Malice or what ever the other one is called will be better. I have now done all the houses twice, and I got to experience a ton more in Hades. I Still think Legendary Truth, Hades, and Hallowed past are my top three favorite. I also liked how towards the end of the night when the lines were virtually non-existant they started breaking us up into smaller groups. Was much better that way!

I was glad to see the one float out though, was a nice touch. Last night my buddy and I got a free night stay at the Portofino which was pretty awesome. We went to CityWalk to grab a few drinks, and I noticed HRRR running with no lights on. Later, as we kept walking, we noticed the lift hill lights were on, and they were still testing...but a few moments after a car cleared the lift, the lights shut off again. I thought it was strange, possible they are actually opening it?
