My brother got a ride on it last night, during an employee preview. He got there at 10:15pm, and didn't board till around 1 am. He said they kept having a lot of problems with it. The boats would stop on the hills, and all that. Once he did get on he said it was pretty neat. He was located in the middle of the boat, and said he got fairly wet. He also stated that the Front gets soaked, and the left side gets hit by the water fall and it would all have felt better if it was 90 degrees as opposed to 70. -
Well it seems like they are getting some work done. I recently visited the park, yesterday, and wow what a difference. I was there a little over a week ago and I saw the walls and it looked pretty normal, but as of a few days ago...there are bulldozers and dirt mounds behind those walls. You can now see Toon Town from pretty much anywhere...dumbo, Pooh's ride, Mrs. Teapots...it's weird to actually see the whole area open like that. They have eliminated the berm and all those plants blocking it, and it was quite a unique feeling...never had it so open in the Kingdom like that (that I've seen). I can't wait to see all the new lands...when ever it is all completed.

This is defiantly exciting news! I waited years to go to this event, and I got to go last year and it was amazing. Last November is when I started looking forward this years event, and knowing it's the 20th year just makes it that much more exciting. I had a question to maybe more experienced Horror Night goers...last year I got the Frequent Fear Pass I believe it was called, and it was quite a deal. The weekends were busy, but the work nights were empty, which was awesome. I remember it being around 65 dollars, I used my pass discount. I noticed that was not listed, and I was curious if that was a one year thing, or if they release those later on. I saw above somebody mentioned other prices not mentioned, and I was just wondering if they are going to release those later. It was such an amazing deal, a good price to come the whole event, on non peak nights. Thanks!

Photo TR: The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

I stayed at Royal pacific last weekend with some friends, we checked in on friday, and checked out on Saturday. We were granted the early entrance to the park on saturday, and our cards were valid fast passes the whole day. So yes, to answer your question. Unless they changed the rule this passed week which seems very unlikely. -

I read the post before that as well. The first time I experienced this ride, my foot did catch something on the transition from the womping willow to the next scene. After riding it again today, I noticed it was very very close on many parts but I could have easily done it again in either that same spot or another if i had fully extended my legs. I'm not very tall either. Now what it was i'm not sure, I don't think it was anything set wise, but it did frighten me the first time. The breaking of the barrier into outside interference was worrisome. Your feet are boxed in on the sides, but you can still reach out in front of you, which is how I noticed the first time. -
Favorite Photos YOU Have Taken

Wow I love that hydra one, a lot of these area amazing! I'll post a few, I don't have many. I started photography a few months ago, I hope to get some shots as good as the ones on this site! I added most of these in the Universal topic, but I'll post them here to. The HRRR ones are my favorite and when I get a camera of my own ( I rented one for the class, or well, they rented it to us) I hope to have a lot more fun with day and nighttime shots of coasters. There are other photos such as Hulk, Manta and others. A few of them were taken with just a regular point and click. I love taking pictures and videos of coasters! I hope I add interesting pictures to the already amazing collection here! -
Just checked out of the hotel, got in this morning and it was fantastic. I'd post my photos but it seems we've got pretty much everything covered in this forum, so it'd seem redundant. I loved the whole experience. The books were released when I was in elementary school (5th grade I believe is when the first one came out) So I have really gotten to grow up with it. I am 21 years old now, and I shall say...when I walked through that gate, I was overcome with a feeling I have not experienced since I was a young kid going into disney world. FJ had an out standing line. I was very nervous about the ride, for I had great expectations (good book) and boy was I blown away. I know most of you on this site want coaters and don't care much for the harry potter theme. So here is my opinions on that. If you are straight up not impressed with the same old simulators (I.e. Soar'n, Spiderman, Dinosaur,) than you won't find this a whole lot more amazing. For what it is, its incredible, but I have noticed reading that some people just don't care for these rides. Thats very understandable, but I really think everyone should give it a try. As a harry potter fan, (I have read all the books and I enjoy watching the movies as well) they hit everything pretty much perfectly. The line castle is fantastic, the whole area is overwhelming for it feels that you have stepped into the book. Butterbeer was fantastic (only got the try the cold one, as a college kid, I spent to much money on that drink and the merch alone) I did like dragons challenge line, but I shall miss the old line for it was just as amazing. Sorry for making such a long post, but I am trying to add more input into these conversations. An overall great experience and I can't wait to go back.

I too enjoy the arrow trains, but those do look spiffy. I also enjoy the rides I have had on Mean Streak. I started out hating it, but began to enjoy it more and more, back row and front row. I love how long it is, but I agree it never really does anything. I remember seeing two trains in the tunnel, which was a crazy sight. I believe it happened twice in '08, the first time was when we went down for a few days and the a few programmers and designers had to fly in to work on it at night. Good times. I am surprised by all the delays we are seeing for STR, yet again I'm sure it's all to make sure we have the best ride we can possibly get from it. I was not really looking forward to this attraction till my brother sent me some videos (he works up there now in one of the new wester shows, I believe its the theater next to the pizza place by maverick) and I really love how it looks. I can't wait to get on it, if the weather is warm enough. Here in florida I never mind jumping on dudley or any of the beloved water soaking rides down here...but cedar point, It'll have to be a nice day -
Hello, I know I don't post much, but I read quite avidly, I have a quick question. I know that they are doing the opening in the morning for the resort guests who had the packages...I was informed earlier today that now it is anybody who are staying in the resorts, yet will not be guaranteed a ride on FJ. Does anybody know if this holds fact? or any news on the developing soft openings, or if they still are only allowing the Package holders entrance. Thanks! Can't wait to go when it really does open! Only a few weeks, I live down the road, but if they are allowing all resort guests at least entrance, I'm inclined to just get a one night stay so I won't have to wait hours on end just to SEE the stores. Thanks!

Hey, I know I don't post much but this is another topic I've been following closely. I often go to universal just to see the progress, and they made quite a jump this last visit. It'd had been about a week since I visited, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the green tarp covering your journey to Dueling Dragons gone. It provided much clearer looks and views of the whole area. I also notice the banners where it used to say choose thy fate, are some pretty legit Fireball and horntail banners. I know they had some cheap looking ones a few weeks ago, but these were much nicer. Another great addition was the animation they now have projected on the top of the ceiling. As you wait to board the train you can hear and see the shadow of the giant dragon in the sky, added a nice feeling to the whole ride waiting area. I can't wait to see this area when it is finally unveiled, and I'm very excited for the Forbidden journey. The only thing I'm worried about are crowds, I've kind of accepted I'll have to wait a long time, which I'm pretty used to.

Hey all, I was at the park yesterday with some buddies, when we notice some small children and families waving to us from the other side of the bridge. They were sitting down eating, and to me they looked like regular park guests. I headed to the entrance to the WWoHP and not only was the gate closed, there was a new, large black tarp thing covering the entrance, almost next to where the magic show is held. We went over and rode dueling dragons and there was a substantial amount of people in there, but what they were doing I have no idea. We asked the dueling dragons guy, but he fed us a the usual "they are workers, and I have no idea" which is all I figured we'd get. If anybody has an idea, my friend suggested press groups and tours. 3 Days ago we also caught them testing the Hippogriff coaster (flying Unicorn) It was cool to see some people actually in the area, any ideas if this might be getting closer to a soft opening? I'm going back again today with my g/f, to hang out then to go a concert at Hard Rock. Hope to see something interesting again.

Just got back from Universal, I didn't get any more pictures...if you want to check out my other ones just go back one page. Got my first night ride on HRRR and it was fantastic. Audio didn't work, so we got another ride in the front which made it pretty awesome. Looking over to the right at the thousands of people lined up for Chicago looked amazing. Speaking of which, it seemed like a very large turnout for Chicago, and they still sounded great. HRRR was awesome at night, and the front provides sick airtime right after the treble clef helix thing. The touch screens were putting up some weird things, it was into the windows media player thing, and I got onto emails and some other crazy stuff. Oh well, a great night.

Going to parks alone?
BBparks57 replied to alilstronger's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I too enjoy going to parks alone. The biggest trip I have done alone was 2 summers ago when I worked at Cedar Point. I drove over to pa to ride Ravine Flyer II. Now in Florida, I often go to Sea world, universal, or disney by my self. I worked at disney last year, so it was normal to just go to a park alone. It' can be such a great escape, but don't get me wrong...I love hanging out at parks with friends as well. It was scary at first, low self-esteem and an amusement park by your self can be pretty destructive, but now I use it as an escape. It's what I love. especially with some music and a camera -
Hey, thanks, I appreciate the comments! Ya I was thinking about that, just because I thought universal might like them. As soon as I saw this ride last year, I wanted these pictures. I have not had the appropriate camera till this month, thanks to school. Thanks again for checking them out! I look forward to being a little more active on the site than I was last year! Btw it was finally nice to see the moving walkway implemented, it really helps out on the wait time. Aside from 2 nights ago, spring break creates those 2 hour long lines. Still one of my favorite roller coasters, mainly for the double take and music feature.

Wow you guys weren't kidding, this event was awesome. I can't wait to go back tomorrow night and then later in october I loved the saw house, but it tied with dracula, for that one had alot of frights in it. I also thought wolfman and frankenstein were done very well, and I loved spawning. not to mention the awesome fright zones. an overall great night!

I'm pretty excited for this attraction, Although I travel to cedar point every year, next year might be the first year I do not, and it will be sad to miss this ride, but I'll be back at some point, so hopefully I'll get on it sometime! i think it's interesting how the first drop is larger than the second. I'm not sure if I like that or not, i love flume rides, and I love how they always have short quick drops before the big one,b ut looks like this will be reverse! -
Sorry to answer so late, but I love halloween and haunted houses, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I want this event to be awesome, but I feel if I hype it up to much I'll be let down. In all honesty, how good are the haunted houses them selves? Haunted houses are quite possibly my fav. thing about halloween, and I've been to some good ones, but I usually don't enjoy amusement park haunted houses...even though I have not been to very quality horror events. I've only been to fright fests and halloweekends. how long will waits be? Whats the best deal aka is there a good deal if I want to come over and over again? My computer is down, the flash player does not work, so not only can I not watch any videos on the internet what so ever, I can't go to interactive sites....so I don't really know what all is going on. but I love reading all your updates, it sounds very intriguing!
-
Hey, again, I'm still kinda new here, and have not posted much and I thank you all for the updates, I've been trying to get to hhn's for years, and I'm finally able to go this year. I'm pretty excited, but I have no idea what to do or what to expect. I usually hit up Halloweekends at cp, but I've always heard so much about Universals HHN. So I'm very excited.

Went back for another ride on the rockit today, got there right as it opened, waited 30 minutes with rain delays, and sadly enough the audio did not work this time I chose wake me up inside, but it didn't matter. I got another ride in the back this time, and got to really experience the ride this time, for last time I was on such a happy high that it was open and I was on it, It all kind of flew by. This time, especially with no music. I will say it was rougher again, but i've only ridden in the back, and yes I have been on many rough rides, and it's not painful (if u keep your head under control) but it's kind of annoying for a new ride to have the shake, but I will say it does not take away from the experience. My fav part is def. the double take, for that same fact that there is nice air and whip on the way down. I do enjoy the coaster, but I did not enjoy it nearly as much as I did with the music and I too hope everything gets worked out. I'd love to see more trains one, and the moving sidewalk. And again, was more impressed with the jump cut this time, again, I only have opinions on this ride from the back row twice, and I would love to try somewhere else.
-
You know that was the one element I was not looking forward to, for I felt it was a waste, but it was more interesting than I thought it'd be. I don't know if I'd go as far to say it felt like a corkscrew, but it felt alot more cooler than I thought it would, but that might be because I expected nothing from it. I also will note, I thought this coaster did not look very fast, and bad pacing but I was pleasantly surprised. The journey back (the jump cut and crowd surfer) were both taking at a quicker speed then it looked, but thats just me. I was told it'd be doing this pretty constantly, but again, Im sure the people who work there are better sources then people I talked to after the ride. I'd like to hear more reviews. The only reason I love this rollercoaster, is because of the music. Any coaster that has music playing while you ride, is higher up on my list, just because I absolutely love music.
