Best Theme Park Food
coaster1 replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My friend and I were watching Food Network one day and say Primanti Bros on TV and decided if we were ever in Pittsburgh we had to go .. so when we made flight reservations for CoasterMania last year, we chose Pittsburgh .. and glad we did .. this year we have it scheduled twice for stops ... such great great food .. love the original location in downtown .. very interesting, but 24hrs doesn't hurt. -
Fiesta Texas is still pumping the Opryland spirit along .. one of the very very few Six Flags parks where very very little of the shows are pre-recorded.

Well crap I'll be at Kennywood that day .. maybe October .. since that's our next "planned" California vacation, but prolly happen before then. -
Yeah seems like malls haunt old Orpyland park sites. They are building a huge mall on the cliff near Fiesta Texas .. which made Fiesta have to re-review thier fireworks and laser show ... which is stupid if I may say so since they have clearance from the city after complaints from neighbors at La Cantera housing, that stated the park was there before the housing so therefore they can continue the nightly shows ... I guess the mall parking is too close to the launch site. Hopefully next time I pass through Nashville, we can stop by the old site .. if we have time and I haven't been to Nashville since 1991 ... so yeah, don't get there very much.

Last two trips to CP were in September and October .. so maybe that's why nothing was open, plus we don't eat at McDonalds, scary considering it was across the street from us at Breaker's Express ... one night we ended up eating at the gas station down the street where you turn onto Cleveland Rd.

Never made it to Opryland, although have been several times to it's littler sister park, Fiesta Texas before the Six Flags buyout. I'm sure Opryland was wonderful, it's a shame they built a mall over it .. didn't seem like it was hurting in attendance or anything, or maybe it was just Gaylord Entertainment and USAA that cause the closure, since they sold out to Six Flags in 1996 with Fiesta Texas.

What is your local park?

Let's see .. 6 mins away from Sandy Lake 30 mins away from Six Flags Over Texas 20 mins away from the State Fair of Texas ... I prefer that over the other 2 parks. -

Mythos at IOA Potato Patch at Kennywood and Primanti Bros in Pittsburgh (YUMMY!) Any food at Silver Dollar City Blue Bayou at Disneyland Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner at Knott's Berry Farm sure will change once I get to Dollywood in a few weeks. -

Aww wish the old people were there April 30th .. it'd be cool to see them .. I'm guessing ... but where's the Fonz!? -
I find it strange they brought a train in from California .. I thought Mindbender had three trains like Shockwave at SFOT. SFOT rotates the trains on a yearly basis and performs a full rehab on each train when it's not on the track, so every 3 years, the trains are fully stripped down and rebuilt.
-
I do know that they don't use Southern Yellow Pine from what I've seen, unlike other wooden coaster manufacturers, maybe that's why their stay smoother for longer .. with SFMW's Roar as an exception, just poor and lack of maintenance there.

Ok, now I'm being a complete noob, but thinking of adding Visionland to the trip. They are open 10-3 on Thursday with a school thing, but no where does it say they are closed to the GP. Guess I'll have to call and find out what the deal is .. but hell I dunno .. I doubt I would enjoy it that much and doubt Zoomerang would be open, doubt I'd ride after that gap in the track.

That's insane .. was wondering how they turned the trains around til I viewed the webpage .. crazy, why can't SFAW's do that!? -
I'm straight .. although friends say otherwise, but my g/f always vouches for me .. well most of the time.

I just wish there were places to eat open after 10pm in Sandusky .. ran into that during CoasterMania and our Halloween visit last year .. ended up at this ghetto looking pizza place, which was quite good and they had this hot girl working there .. which in turned got me slapped and other strange looks.

I wouldn't call it a crappy park at all. PKI has been one of my favorite parks, well in terms of enjoyment since my first visit in 2000. Granted it's not in my Top 10, but parks in there are world-class. PKI does however provide a great time and always have nice things and people. Jeff is one of the nicest guys I've ever met and not to mention they do have some decent rides (Adventure Express, Drop Zone, Delirium, Vortex) and the fact they are the #1 seasonal amusement park speaks for itself. I think the last few years has been rough on Paramount for funding, but the park does a good job of making with what they get, plus I think Italian Job looks to be a pretty decent ride, except the fact the removed the flyers for it .. my only beef.
