Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
coaster1 replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well they are expanding next year with the Screamin' Swing installation they are getting, glad to see a non upcharge one coming, like Wild Adventures had .. although KW's is the large model. -
Round-Ups and Tilt-A-Whirls
coaster1 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Add Sandy Lake Park, Joyland and Wonderland parks in Texas to the Tilt-A-Whirl list. I seem to think Cliff's had one but I can't remember if they did or not. -
Photo TR: Silver Dollar City and Celebration City

I think this just made us want to go back again this weekend ... how I miss PowderKeg, Seat of Doom on Wildfire (Back left) and the Scooters. -
what is a lipstick cam and how much does it cost
coaster1 replied to it's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wont get into that either .. but the PR people talk with the operations people to find out what would be required for their approval of doing it on rides. Some parks will allow simply holding it .. others will duct tape it to you hand and some will flat out just say no. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?
coaster1 replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Crazy Mouse at Garland's Star-Spangled Fourth ... typical Revechon Spinning Mouse .. nothing at SFOT today .. shocker, but way too crowded and hot. -

Phoning the PR department IS contacting the park, the only ones that can give you the for sure ok. Ride ops may give you permission, but most parks that is still breaking the rules. -
I couldnt aggree more .. run to X first and get it out of the way. Last time we waited close to 45mins at the stairs, not due to slow ride ops, they were some of the best in the park, but it just takes so long to load the train, they did a good job and had very little stacking.

Texas Wood advice
coaster1 replied to davidmorton's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
None of the Texas woodies give any airtime much anymore. Giant has some in certain areas, but with the very little rain we've had the past 2 months, it's not running very smooth at all. Judge is a decent ride regardless, and the trains just got a full rehab. Cyclone is a good decent ride, running much better than in previous years. Rattler .. well not as bad as Timber Wolf at WOF, but still not a very good ride all around. -
This is making Summer 2006 hard .. Japan or Europe .. damn

Round-Ups and Tilt-A-Whirls
coaster1 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes Celebration City has a Tilt-A-Whirl, how could I forget, I'm there almost every weekend .. Branson USA had a round-up before they closed and SDC sold most of the ride too. -

Round-Ups and Tilt-A-Whirls
coaster1 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Holiday World has a Super Round Up .. Bell's Amusement Park has a round-up and Tilt-A-Whirl I think and Worlds of Fun has a round up along with a rarer Rotor As for double Inverters, Geauga Lake has one, but as with most they only run one side and I also think SFNE has one. -
Carowinds Question?
coaster1 replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes Carowinds does have a few good thing to make a stop, but on a weekend, it may not be the best idea. We went on Saturday in April and I got busy VERY fast, but we were still able to conquer the park before noon and then I spent the rest of the day on the flyers, no rules on snapping ... yet -
SheiKra - "First" Water Effect
coaster1 replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well ... not a true water splash .. it's tripped by sensors. -

Sounded like Flashback at SFOT in 2002 .. but it never did that .. crazy screwed up France  -
^ Last I checked the Batman side only had 2 inversions and the Robin side 3 So .. revenge of the mummy (USF), same manufacturer, both launched (and no they aren't clones)

SheiKra - "First" Water Effect
coaster1 replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well Matterhorn has a true water splash, since the car travels through a bed of water, SheiKra has fins to create a "splash". There have been several before Matterhorn to have water splashes as well, alot of wooden coasters used to have them, Wildcat at Frontier City had one til a few years ago and even Blazing Fury and Fire In The Hole have them .. they are all true effects since the train travels through the water. -
Was this done on different cameras .. most of the footage is jumpy and looks to be 15fps sped up to 29.996 fps (30fps) .. then some is smooth, like the Indy/F1 car scene. Makes me dizzy.

"A Big Mac is called a Big Mac, but there they call it Le Big Mac" So is it "Le Big Mac" or just "Big Mac"
