La Ronde Discussion Thread
Carnage replied to Skyscraper's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I like the turn right after the drop. I'll definetly be making a trip up to La Ronde this summer. -
The trim brakes on Mantis have nothing to do with the structure. If it was intense enough to damage steel supports then the ride wouldn't run period. The trims are more to keep the intensity down somewhat, but mostly to help the ops make interval. Slows the train down a bit so that they have a bit more time to load. The trims weren't even added until after it's first season. I've had good and bad rides on it, overall it's a decent ride. However I don't think it's worth waiting more then 20 minutes for. Magnum on the other hand, if you get off with bruises that means it's running great. Bring the pain!!

Worlds of Fun (WOF) Discussion Thread
Carnage replied to OzCatter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ It probably has more to do with the ride being built at a park that isn't as well known as say Cedar Point, SFMM, or SFGAdv. -
^^ It's the only giga coaster techically. I've never understood why more of them haven't been built. The rocket coaster gets built like crazy regardless of reliability problems. But yet the giga coaster which is a much more rounded, and more exciting ride doesn't? I'd love to see a layout like S:ROS @ SFNE, but with Millienium Forces drop. The wicked first drop is the only thing S:ROS lacks.

I've found bots to be more annoying then anytyhing.

We would beg to differ on us being another state. Not too mention that La Ronde is in Quebec which barely even considers itself part of Canada. SFI would be better off to wait a few years on La Ronde. By then the Canadian dollar would be higher then the US dollar and they'd get a better return on their money.

How did you get the picture though? Impressive that you were able to bet a complete shot of your upper mouth. Did you stick the camera right in your mouth?

What I found more was that the chat would hang on me quite often. After a good hour it would stall, stuck on refreshing. I'd then have to close it down and reopen the chat to get it to work again.

Steel Poll Results are in
Carnage replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I probably would have ranked the SFA S:ROS over the DL version as well. The DL version seemed to have better speed through the first part of the ride, but lacked much airtime on the final direction change before the bunny hills. (it had airtime, but not nearly the intense airtime that SFA had). Though SFA's straight aways seemed to be much longer. Though overall both come in pretty close. -
I've found the weekends after labour day but before Halloweekends are a great time to go. Weather is cool, but not too cold, and the crowds are low. Be careful with Halloweekends. Friday's and Sundays during Halloweekends will be empty. However the saturday's when they have the haunted houses, etc will quite often fill the park to capacity. (when the weather is nice at least). I have been to the park a few times on these saturday's where every queue line is filled. It gets really, really bad.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Carnage replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I doubt I'll make it. I typically always go to Cedar Point the may long weekend(which for Canada is the preceeding weekend). So I doubt I'd be able to make another trip the day after. Awesome Coasters Workbench.SV6 -
^^ That would work fine only if Cedar Point was the only park they would go to. As all parks wouldn't be open midweek at that point. If you're going to fly 2000 miles across the country to visit CP you may as well see more while you're there. Cedar Point's good and all, but there are quite a few hidden gems scattered across the midwest/north east.

^ That would be quite the drive from Pittsburgh. Isn't it a good 3-4 hours at least from Pittsburgh to CP? And personally I'd skip PKI unless you are looking to to every place you can get to. There's much better parks around than PKI.

New Westcoaster Updates!
Carnage replied to Jim Disney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well to be fair some of them are closed due to the construction of Tatsu. -
Get the white one and paint it whatever colour you wish.

1.Schools should be out by June(locals should be able to confirm this) so that shouldn't be a problem. 2.Definetly not. Vegas is driving distance from LA. You'd be flying about 4-5 hours, only to have to fly 3-4 hours back to Vegas. If you want to do Vegas do it when you're in LA. 3. SAndusky is a resort town. The area is packed with hotels for about a 30 mile radius. You have dozens to choose from. Though I'd suggest Breakers Express. It's a cheap, quality hotel, and you get early entry to the park(great way to ride Millenium Force and Dragster which are the longest waits). 4. 2 days should be enough to do everything. You'll probably be able to do nearly everything in 1 day in fact. At least all the good rides. But 2 days would give you enough time to enjoy yourself.

Because a park would rather spend millions of dollars on a proven concept. They know it works, so why re-invent the wheel? Though many parks will have a stock coaster or two, there are alot of unique coasters at the majority of parks in Europe/North America.
-
^ You could also add in Kennywood,Six Flags Great America,Dells, etc etc. IF you want to visit the midwest/north east there's really a huge amount to keep you busy. Florida's nice if you like the Disney experience, etc. Florida and Califnornia will have the better scenery of course. Though for a purely thrill ride perspective the midwest/north east will far beat out Cali and Florida.

^ You looked up the wrong term I think. What you found is not reffering to CMOS chips in regards to video cameras. I did a bit of searching in google and found a page that explains what you're looking for. Link

Just say it's only coaster porn.

I got luggage, clothes, pillows, and a tissue holder shaped like an Easter island statue(you pull the tissues out of it's nose). I also got myself a digital camera and printer on boxing day(should arrive today).
