  1. ^ The CP fanboys that skew the golden ticket voting I'd imagine. The same people that beleive that there are no good roller coasters outisde of Ohio.
  2. ^ Halo being the lone exception.
  3. In all this time I don't think I've actually added to this thread. Ice bar @ Liseberg.
  4. Have a drink on me Lou. You can now legally drink anywhere in the world. Happy birthday.
  5. Toronto,Ontario. I'd post Waterloo, but we don't have a skyline.
  6. ^Yeah, I can't even imagine how hard that would be. With this case it's all but finished. All that's left is for him to serve his time. Though it's going to be hard on everyone involved with the case for some time. As a jury member it's much easier to forget and move on. I was actually surprised that this guy's appeal was rejected. I was sure that he was going to get a new trial, patch the holes in his story and end up walking. Actually at one point the trial almost was declared a mistial. Seems the accused first defense witness contacted him by e-mail during the trial and gave him an answer to a question asked in court. The judge and the prosecuting lawyer ripped that witness a new hole when he got up on a stand. I've never seen someone try and packpedal so hard.
  7. The trial lasted two weeks. The guy was sentanced to something like 3 years in prison. His appeal was just denied this past winter, so he's serving the sentance now.
  8. My 3 year exemption comes up in the winter. From what I understand I'm very likely to get called in again. From what I understand once you get picked, you keep getting picked over and over again. I served on a jury for a child molester 3 years ago. While an interesting experience, it was also extremely stressful. I do not want to do it again, but unforunatly I don't have a choice.
  9. You'll stop getting flak when you stop making dumb posts.
  10. I noticed. So your west coast flight price comment is just as useful to you as it is me.
  11. Good for them. However I'm on the east coast. So it'd cost me roughly $500ish Canadian to get to the west coast. So I'd still be looking at $1K-$2K range for a flight to Japan.
  12. Yellow dart? You sure you haven't been smoking the green darts?? I want my minute back for having to read this post.
  13. Yes listen to me. Vekoma Fan Boy: 1) We're talking about Canada->USA, and 2) We're talking about driving not flying. The rules for flying can be more strict(though I think even still a passport is not required for Canada/USA). You should be fine with a birth certificate and photo ID. But getting a passport would be a good idea, as you will get less hassle if you have one. Customs officers are hard to judge. If you get one on a bad day they can and will make your life a living hell. So the more you have the better(passport, notes if you're underage, etc)
  14. I'm sure the Canadian dollar affected not getting a major roller coaster. But I doubt it was the main reason. Afterall it's not like the park has been ignored like Six Flags Darien Lake, etc. There was a few years in a row that multi-million dollar flat rides were built, and splash works has seen alot of money put into it. Lots of money has been put into that park, just in areas other then roller coasters.
  15. Alot I would imagine, just due to how expensive the country is. I'm not even going to be able to consider the trip because I'd estimate that my flight alone over there would cost me more then the UK trip, or at least close to. Some other time maybe.
  16. Probably not nearly as many as you'd think. And even though I'm sure alot of people know of Cedar Point, even fewer would actually go. I know every time I make my yearly trips my freinds are shocked by how affordable it is.
  17. SFMM is like Cedar Point. They are in an area with alot of major parks, which means alot of competition. So a park like SFMM does have to keep building rides to have something to offer over and above what their neighbour has. So yes SFMM needs all it's coasters. Canadas Wonderland is the oposite. They have nothing within hundreds of miles. So they have no competition. The people in Toronto have nowhere else to go than to Wonderland. so it doesn't matter that the park hasn't built any world class roller coasters. Not to mention that the average park guest that goes to Canadas Wonderland wouldn't even know the first thing about the better roller coasters in the US.
  18. ^ If you're asking about Candas Wonderland, there's plenty of room behind Italian job and kingswood. There's also room along the 400 behind Minebuster. Plus they could always move/replace existing rides. There's no shortage of space.
  19. It's a business not roller coaster tycoon. They're not going to be "nice" and drop $20 million on a ride that the park doesn't really need. The park will get a major roller coaster when Cedar Fair feels the park needs it. If they don't think the park needs it, then it will never come.
  20. I just wish they would start building more larger rockets with longer layouts. The mini-rockets like Speed Monster and Kanonen have really forceless launches.
  21. Pretty much. It is right next to a population base of over 5 million with the only competition being Marineland and Darien Lake. (so no compeition). The park has the highest attendance for all seasonal parks. They get millions of people every year wether they build a record breaking coaster or get nothing. Which is why it's a very well run park with an average coaster collection at best.
  22. Great TR. I can't wait to get back to Kennywood this year. PR gives crazy airtime in the back. I remember getting thrown forwards a bit, before getting whipped back over the next dip. The backseat really caught me off guard the first time.
  23. Well that answers my question of where you are. I saw the first two pics and wondered, "that's not anything near Toronto".
