  1. I didn't even realize that's where the ride would be placed. I'm glad the park makes such good use of their unusual terrain. The only thing better would planting it right on the edge of the cliff!
  2. Wooden loop? Really? That sounds insane! Weren't even the first loops on wooden coasters made of steel?
  3. Hopefully that information is all current and not just recycled from the past. More importantly, hopefully the plans won't change too drastically (unless for the better). I like the look of that cloverleaf layout. The paper almost seems over-confident; then again, if they have good reason to be, that's great!
  4. I love how steep El Toro looks (and feels, and is...). Wooden coasters do not generally make me nervous, but Toro is one of the main exceptions.
  5. I mainly use the "RCDB rule," modified a bit to suit my tastes. While I realize it's a personal choice and unimportant, I like to see others' opinions. It's easier to compare lists if people share a good number of their standards in common.
  6. The layout is starting to really appeal to me. At the very least, it's not likely to be worse than the other B&M hypers, right? Though like many, I would prefer if it represents an advancement in their designs.
  7. ^I feel like at some point in the last couple years, the park insinuated that the woodie project wasn't truly dead, though that didn't exactly inspire much faith on my part. If not, then there was at least strong speculation from a source or two. But maybe that was true all along and it's only now that the information is surfacing again.
  8. Well, that had me doing a double take. I think my skepticism of this park is understandable. I will be so, so happy if this goes through. I suppose in a way it's not even that far-fetched, if indeed at all?
  9. For me... Roughest: easily, by far X2. I found several of the other traditionally rough coasters smooth or acceptable: Viper (one of the magic seats), Revolution (front seat, of course), Colossus (back) and Scream. Note that this has absolutely no bearing on how much I love X2; it's still my top favorite. Least favorite: Canyon Blaster by default as it's the smallest adults can ride. Least favorite adult coaster: Gold Rusher. Somewhat painful, boring, no airtime. I will give it the terrain use, though; that's not something to take for granted.
  10. Unless I'm missing something, the colors don't seem scorpion-related at all, so it doesn't seem necessary to me. I don't think it needs a rebranding, but you never know.
  11. I still can't get over the design of this ride. With every major update, I find some new aspect to feast my eyes upon.
  12. I'm hoping to make my second try at that credit this year. Unfortunately, it's true that even though it's directly on the route to Silverwood, planning a visit for the coaster is a logistical headache.
  13. Nice to see some Northwest trips in the works for this year! The parks may be modest, but they're worth visiting. I'll probably hit up Oaks myself, as I need to stop taking their Lusses for granted. Hopefully I'll get a chance to return to Country Mercantile for that pesky little Miler credit, too.
  14. ^Oh! I thought I heard it was "temporarily" down a few years ago because it had gotten struck by lightning. I'm not a hater by any means, but...point taken.
  15. ^Those construction workers look tiny! And wow, that blue really is perfect for the "sky" theme.
  16. I know this is an old thread and story, but I might as well share a general opinion. Aren't staycations supposed to be cool now? Even if you have to book a room, you still might be saving compared to what you would've spent going further in search of recreation. Besides, even if you're close to home you're still getting a refreshing change of scenery from your own neighborhood. And yes, this is a fairly common concept.
  17. Anyone know if they've repaired the one on Vertical Velocity at SFGAm (or are still planning to)? I believe the Impulses currently using one are Steel Venom at Valleyfair and Possessed at Dorney.
  18. ^I'm not sure I'd ever heard the full story on V2 before. That somehow sounds even more ridiculous. It's not like you can readily modify just any ride that drastically (though I suppose the alternative would be to remove one entirely). Too bad the park couldn't take the effort to reinstate the holding brake; that would make it just about perfect for me.
  19. ^I had gotten so lost regarding the restraint information and speculation. Is this the first time lap bars are confirmed? At any rate, it's great to hear!
  20. Since I happen to be near-infatuated with those color schemes, I am all for it, even just for the pretty pictures.
  21. I recall admiring this design when it first came out. Glad to see plans for an installation. Sounds like it will be a hit!
  22. ^Oh, how very glad I am to see that. I think many coasters incorporating a lot of yellow paint are ugly, and combining it with red just makes it worse. On the other hand, I love practically any coaster with aqua, teal or turquoise paint.
  23. I only wish I had learned something, anything meaningful from high school relationships. I know people say all experiences teach valuable lessons, the bad ones moreso than the good ones, but all I can think of is "Don't let that happen again," etc. I suppose it's possible it's just something I prefer not to analyze at this point in my life, though.
  24. ^Wow, the red does look more eye-catching in high-quality photos. Fun seeing American Eagle in the snow as well. Thanks for snapping those for us!
