  1. Did you make those? I'm extremely impressed by your work. I can't imagine how awesome Tidal Wave would've been if that concept actually worked out. On top of that your thread is an inspiration for some of my work. Thanks for posting these. Dan - I really need to ease up on the ellipses...
  2. I love how the coaster runs right through the rock formation... I can't wait to see the rest of the coaster... Keep up the good work...
  3. Mmm... Interesting... I never thought of it that way. Your English is fine for somebody that has English for a second language...
  4. The front of the train would slow down when going up the hill, but the front of the train at the base of the first drop is travelling at the exact same speed as the back of the train at the exact same point on the first drop... However, I believe that the front of the train would travel slower at the base of the first drop than the back of the train if the drop is small, the train is long, and the chain lift speed is slow... Dan- You should probably ask somebody with more experience in the industry...
  5. I think you took my post out of context, but it was probably my fault for wording it funny... You experience the first drop longer when sitting in the front car, but it also feels slower when you're sitting in front... Sitting in the back feels faster, but ultimately, you'll be travelling at the same speed at the bottom of the first drop either way...
  6. I believe that no matter which car you're sitting in, you're still travelling at the same speed at the bottom of the drop either way... You just get to experience the drop much longer when riding in the back car than in the front car.
  7. If I had swine flu, I'd probably just stay home, sit in bed, and hang out on TPR where I can't get anybody else sick... And if I die, I probably wouldn't have a problem with it... It can't be any different than dying from the regular flu. I would still think it was completely overblown like Mad Cow Disease, SARS, Bird Flu, and West Nile Virus, which were diseases that the media completely blew out of proportion. It's just a form of the flu that comes from pigs!! Hope your dad is okay... - Dan
  8. New video games are still fun.... Except I'm mainly playing NES, Genesis, SNES, Game Boy, and DS games nowadays.
  9. When going into a drop following a lift hill/heavy trim, all the cars in the train are slow going into the drop, however, the last few cars aren't affected by the trim/chain as much because the first few cars pull the back cars down the hill... On top of that, the last couple of cars aren't affected by the trims/chain as much as the first couple of cars because the last cars are able to disengage from the trims/chain sooner than the first cars. The first couple of cars have to wait for the last few cars to disengage from the chain/trim in order for them to pick up speed. You'll normally see this on coasters with heavy trims like LNM or low-speed coasters like BTMRR. A lot of old Arrow, B&M, Vekoma, and Intamin coasters try to solve this problem with the pre-drop on first hills. I hope this helps...
  10. ^ Sideways? What in the world are you talking about?
  11. ^ That's very creepy! Almost a little too creepy for my tastes... Its people like that that really ruin ACE's reputation... Although it DOES make for some funny ACE-related jokes...
  12. ^ Really? But isn't BD still on a fairly heavily forested mountain? (probably not as much as EF though) And considering it's a wooden coaster, it would still be fairly difficult to retrack. Did the trims at the bottom of Wolf's drop effectively "ruin" the final drop? I never got to ride the coaster pre-trim, but the final drop is still pretty awesome, even with the trim turned on.
  13. ^^ They've already been testing the trains... Hopefully this will open soon.
  14. ^ The launch out of the top of the volcano and the flamethrower at the top is technically the "eruption".
  15. All those parks are open. If they decided to close the parks, you'd hear an announcement... And I probably wouldn't worry about swine flu much either...
  16. Sorry for asking so many questions, but I really wanna know what the park can do to save the ride... Definitely. The trains weigh about 30% less, and don't swing out that much at all. Interesting... I always thought that heavier trains would slow the train down and lighter trains would speed everything up... Wasn't Boulder Dash retracked at one point? And if it was, how did that improve the ride overall. I know that EF and BD are two different coasters, but wouldn't retracking a wooden coaster be just as difficult as retracking an old steel coaster?
  17. Here's another article which expands on what I said earlier complete with stats... http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/f/flu/deaths.htm And another article which claims that flu deaths are overstated, but the number of deaths listed still remains in the tens of thousands of people compared to the small handful of people dying from pig flu.... http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2005-12-11-flu-deaths_x.htm
  18. ^ Ummm... Actually people die from the regular flu all the time! It just doesn't get as much coverage as the pig flu because the regular flu is commonplace. EDIT Included article... January 7, 2003 Source: http://www.cdc.gov/od/oc/media/pressrel/r030107.htm As you can see, a study conducted in 2003 states that an average of 36,000 people die from the flu and even before that, 20,000 people died from the flu on average. So the media IS blowing swine flu (like they blew up avian flu, SARS, West Nile, and Mad Cow Disease) out of proportion.
  19. Man it's hard to believe that it took more than ten years to develop this thing and they STILL haven't gotten anything done. Its even harder to believe I was in the first grade when they planned on releasing this game. Not to mention so many things have happened since then... Man I already feel old
  20. Done with school for now... Summer classes start next week so I get this week off... The catch is I get to babysit a three year old
  21. Woah! That looks like a cross between Toro and Prowler! I kinda think the colors should be more of a tradiional wooden coaster brown though... But either way, I'm very impressed.
  22. I'm assuming that Eagle Fortress has KI Bat-style intensity, which means that even though the turns are banked, the trains travelling at a very high speed on top of the insane swinging is bound to have a negative effect on the track, causing a huge maintenence issue. If Everland decided to allow Vekoma to retrack EF, the coaster would lose some of its intensity, but in return the coaster would last longer and require less maintenence. Not to mention EF is already a highly intense coaster (judging by the video) so losing a little bit of intensity probably will be a good thing... More questions: Did Vampire recieve a Mean Streak style neutering, where the entire coaster became a slow, boring, rough ride after the retracking? Did Vampire recieve a full retracking, partial retracking, or no retracking? Did the new trains cause Vampire to become slower? If that's the case, maybe if Everland kept the original Arrow trains and allowed Vekoma to retrack the whole thing the ride would still have its intensity, but the maintenence costs wouldn't be as bad. Trims could also be added at strategic points in the ride where the most wear and tear is suffered. I haven't been on either Bat or EF, but I have been on BBW, and that alone is an insane coaster.
  23. The video is unavailible. From the picture alone, the ride looks very good. Kinda reminds me of Blue Fire and Storm Runner a bit... If it's not an Intamin, is it Gerstlauer? Maurer Sohne? Mack?
  24. Welcome to the Jungle - Guns n' Roses
  25. Top? Power Drill? Dildo?
