  1. They gave us El Toro, The Voyage, and SROS/Bizarro...
  2. I have some strange fears.... - Heights - Yeah, my fear of heights is still there despite being a coaster enthusiast; however, on a coaster, the feeling of being in a high place doesn't last long. I can also sit in an airplane or on a skyscraper and still feel safe, but when walking down a steep staircase or standing over a huge cliff with no barriers between, I get antsy. However there's a weird connection that goes with this... - I hate platforming levels in video games that involve going over enormous gaps and standing on small platforms. It gets worse with autoscroll levels. - Getting hurt - For some reason I'm afraid of pain. I guess it's an uncomfortable feeling I don't like to deal with. I also don't like getting my feelings hurt either. My fear of needles also falls under this, although the shots I received last week got me over that quick.. This goes with another weird video game-related fear. - Levels that force me to go over huge lava pools/spikes. - Surgery - Ugh... I hate surgery. Not only do I get cut up, but I also feel miserable afterward. On top of that, I'm confined to a bed until the effects wear off. I often find myself feeling very nervous before, during, and after surgeries. - Exams - Especially for classes that I'm not doing well in or that I'm forced to pass in order to move on. Even if I'm well-prepared, I still find myself very nervous before an exam or a major test. - Public speaking - Same as the exams... So you could say I'm just a giant chicken.
  3. They're opening another park in Wuhu? http://www.rcdb.com/6254.htm Unless this is under a different company... but having two parks in the same town with the same name is bound to create confusion. Or maybe the new park is part of a resort expansion, but the themes seem to be extremely similar. EDIT2: RCDB says there are existing Fantawild outlets in - Wuhu, Anhui, China - Shantou, Guangdong, China (under construction) - Jiangbei, Chongqing, China not the three cities mentioned in the article... Slight EDIT: Wasn't reading straight...
  4. - Sony Vaio PCG-FRV28 laptop circa 2002 running on Windows XP - Mozilla Firefox 3.7 - Sometimes Internet Explorer 8, but Firefox is 1000x better
  5. ^ Because NASCAR is well-known for its massive airtime hills... The coaster is fine layout-wise because its not built to be an airtime-based coaster, but more of a speed-based coaster.
  6. ^ Hey! Facebook pirate is totally awesome! Probably the greatest Facebook Easter egg of all time.
  7. Well, you've got Goliath at SFFT, Chang, and the old SLC going to La Ronde, so this might very well be the beginning of another ride relocation program. There are multiple factors to why a - The economy is bad, so most parks aren't getting as many major investments. - They withhold the name/type of ride to create hype. They release a vague information in order to cause speculation, which in turn creates hype. - They're slow at making announcements.
  8. Alright I've tested the app out... There are plenty of gifting app creators and quiz app creators all over Facebook, therefore it's difficult to keep track of them and (if you're the person that hates these apps) block every single one. Basically this post is to inform people about these gifting/quiz apps and how they work. If you want to get rid of the applications, you can either remove all friends that send you the message, or if your close friends are sending you the gifts and you don't want to remove them from your list, tell them personally (Note - This mainly works if you don't have as many friends or if the person sends you app invites/gifts constantly)... This goes to my next point. Facebook Application Etiquette As an avid Facebook app user, I hate getting wall spam and junk messages from apps, even from apps that I use like Farmville and Mafia Wars. When should you post application messages on your wall? - When multiple friends benefit from that message, for example, suppose a lonely cow wanders onto your farm in Farmville, then post the message only if you have a good amount of friends playing Farmville and would be interested in adopting the cow. If not, post every once in a while, but don't abuse it. -EDIT - New Point - Sometimes apps like Happy Aquarium will allow you to display mundane messages that don't have any bonuses attached. DON"T POST THESE! It only adds clutter to the already cluttered Facebook wall. I personally hate it when people post these messages because it makes the wall look much messier. - If the reward is small, post sparingly. Using Farmville as an example again, posting that you're thanking everyone for fertilizing their crops only yields 50 coins, therefore posting every single time somebody fertilizes your crops is annoying. Instead, post every once in a while. - If you want to draw more friends into the game, post a message, but don't abuse it, especially if very few friends are playing it. Post one every once in a while to get some people interested, but again, DON'T ABUSE IT. What about requests? - You can also send out app requests, but don't send too many at a time and don't send them to people you know find the apps annoying. - The same goes for sending gifts. - Tagging was pretty much covered at the beginning of the thread. Now back to the gifting app.... This is basically how it works. SLIGHT EDIT: The pics may seem a bit large, but I tried resizing them the best I could while keeping everything legible (unless that's jot important). Unfortunately I got this error when trying to confirm the application. PS: I have my Facebook set to English(Pirate), which explains the pirate language. Once you fill in all the good stuff, you hit the submit button and it'll take you to the Application Developer Page. This is the application's main page. Put in all the information and hit submit.
  9. Alright I just added the application to my profile and apparently Gift Creator is an application that allows users to create their own gifting application, therefore the gifts that Robb is receiving aren't coming from Gift Creator itself, but another gifting application that was created through Gift Creator. I'm currently testing it out right now and I'll come back with an update.
  10. ^ Robb... To answer your question, there are multiple gifting apps on Facebook and the only way to block them completely is to find each one and block it individually.
  11. Confirmed major coasters (this is just a general list and definitely not complete) - Thirteen (world's first) - Intimidator 305 and Intimidator Carowinds - Dueling GCIs - Skyrocket - used SLC for La Ronde - Ferrari World and Universal Singapore's projects - Unknown B&M flyer in China Confirmed new parks - Ferrari World - Universal Singapore Unsure... - New coaster for MM, but I just uncovered this today... http://www.rcdb.com/4346.htm Not sure if this is old news because I'm a bit behind in coaster industry-related news. - Mysterious yellow B&M Etc... - Wizarding World of Harry Potter At this point, the economy seems to be catching up to theme parks. Fewer new parks are being built (even in China) and it seems as if the more established parks are going for smaller, cheaper investments. Looking at the new coasters for 2010 list on RCDB, which can be found here...http://www.rcdb.com/r.htm?ot=2&op=2010, most major coaster projects are just used rides that are being moved and rebuilt (La Ronde, Mirabilandia, Wallygator Park, etc) and most new coaster projects are small in scale... The biggest 100% brand new investments seem to be the two Intimidator coasters going to Kings Dominion and Carowinds. Both Universal Singapore and Ferrari World also have pretty big investments being added as well. Skyrocket and the dueling GCIs take the third and fourth place. A random Eurofighter follows in fifth. After that, the size and scale of the new coaster projects drops off dramatically with the rest of the new projects being family rides and/or used rides. Therefore, my prediction is that there will be fewer if any huge projects in the near future. More parks will go for smaller, cheaper options and there will probably be even fewer new coasters being built. There will be the occasional new park built in China/Middle East, but the projects will be scaled back...
  12. As long as the videos have dodged the copyright violation cleansing which happens every so often, you can find full-length episodes of most of the shows you listed on YouTube. I know there are a number of channels that host full-length Rescue Rangers, DuckTales, and Darkwing Duck episodes. The Nick shows you referred to are much harder to find on YT (mainly because Viacom removes them the second they're uploaded ), but if you happen to come across some that were missed or recently uploaded, you could download them and watch them from the safety of your own computer. I've also been able to find some old Nicktoons/classic Nick shows on the Nick.com website, but that was a few years ago. Lastly, there are websites that host full length retro-TV shows all over the Internet. Including a lot of old Nicktoons and Cartoon Network cartoons.
  13. Babysitting...
  14. Aside from getting nothing on a number of occasions, which doesn't really bother me, one Christmas, my parents opted to give me study material that I had to read over for a placement test that I had to take for some classes at school.
  15. ^ Happy Late Birthday
  16. ^ and ^^ You should move to the Hampton Roads area of Virginia (Williamsburg, Newport News, VA Beach, Norfolk), which almost never gets snow, and when it does snow, it's almost always a dusting. The Nor-easter that supposedly pummeled the Northeast with a few feet gave us around 2 cm. The last "good" snow we got was around 2 inches last year, which happened during MY Spring Break and before that it was around a 2 feet in 2004. However even when it's less than an inch, schools will still be delayed two hours and traffic will be a 2 living nightmares compared to the 1 living nightmare it normally is. Schools close around an inch. In fact, all the natural disasters we get are weak...
  17. I'm pretty speechless... Are you a professional photographer by any chance?
  18. If you're good enough at drawing, people are gonna do that to you all the time. I should know And it doesn't really bother me either because I've learned that the more people are curious about what you're drawing, the more recognition you'll receive and recognition is a positive if you want to make money off your artwork in the future. And I also had a personal experience with that as well. I remember when I was in elementary school, I met this kid that was insanely good at drawing. Well one day, I saw him drawing a picture and he told me to go away. I felt maybe I was standing too close to him so I decided to give him some room. He looked up and started yelling at me to go away. While I was upset about it, I realized I should stop caring about what he draws and improve my own artwork instead. I guess because of that, I've been fairly open with people seeing me draw and its produced some pretty awesome artwork (which can be found in my sig ). Maybe that's just me though... I guess people looking at you draw pictures can be distracting and annoying to some.
  19. WOW! I'm surprised this thread has gotten this far without a flame war or a locking. I guess it helps that almost everyone is on the same page with the debate. Anyway, my opinion... Legalize it. Sure its bad for your health and could be used as a "gateway" drug, but other "legal" drugs like alcohol, nicotine, and caffeine have similar addictive and dangerous effects on the body. Legalizing it would cut down on crime rates and give the police more time to focus on worse crimes than selling illegal drugs. I also believe it should be treated like alcohol and there should be legal limits to prevent people from abusing it and endangering themselves and others.
  20. - Chain letters and annoying advertising - I'm sick and tired of seeing chain letters everywhere I go. They were bad enough on every single other social media site I frequent and now they're on Facebook? Geez... - Also my CD drive for my dinosaur of a laptop stopped working and can't read anything. Looks like I'm gonna need to find a replacement, if they still make drives for the computer I use.
  21. Today's my birthday...
  22. Somebody posted a link on Thrill Network to the Fantazy Land thread. I noticed that the forums here were more active than TN and the community was larger than the other active coaster sites I visited, so I started lurking around here.
  23. I use XP, but considering Firefox is a serious contender for IE8, I'm not surprised to see FF acting up on Win7. This also happens with FF browsers on other XP machines as well. It has to do with Facebook's coding apparently according to some of the Firefox support forums I've browsed through.
  24. ^^ FB Chat has always been slightly screwed up when using Firefox (at least for me). In fact, Firefox and Facebook don't seem to mix well together compared to IE. Knowing Facebook and... 1. The fact that even though most Facebook members have expressed disdain for all the changes being made constantly yet they still make unnecessary changes. 2. The fact that Facebook STILL hasn't installed a "dislike" button despite everyone asking for one.... 3. The fact that Facebook and Firefox don't work well together, for example... - The app dashboard goes missing - I can't click certain links - Some links take me back to my homepage - Chat messes up - I can't type comments without refreshing Something needs to be fixed... 4. Fake applications like "New Chat" are still operational... Facebook isn't gonna do anything about the chat system, no matter how many people join some group. Rant Time: Freezing cold + no snow + finals = I'm very unhappy...
