  1. I did a cruise that grazed Hurricane Irene. The ship rocked pretty heavily (water in the pool splashing everywhere, people getting sick, dishes crashing on the floor). It didn't help that it was an older ship, which already rocked heavily enough in calm water. It was definitely an interesting experience.
  2. Having to do a No. 2 with no toilet around. What's worse than being trapped in your own body?
  3. Since the trading scene is active again, I'll update my list. 2012 SFGAm map 2012 BGW map (Illuminights, regular season, Christmas Town) 2011 BGW map (Illuminights) 2012 Busch Gardens Williamsburg brochure *thick 2011 Busch Gardens Williamsburg brochure *thick 2010 Atlantis Resort Aquaventure (Bahamas) brochure (reserved) 2012 Jolly Roger brochure 2012 Splish Splash Long Island brochure/map 2012 Kings Dominion map 2012 Worlds of Fun brochure 2010 South of the Border brochure 2012 Busch Gardens Tampa map 2012 Busch Gardens Tampa brochure *thick 2012 Universal Orlando brochure *thick 2012 Walt Disney World brochure *thick 2011 Ocean Breeze Water park brochure 2010 Kings Dominion brochure 2009 Kennywood brochure (reserved) 2009 Ocean Breeze Water park brochure 2009 Hersheypark brochure (reserved) 2009 VA Beach Amusement Park brochure (small park, hard to find) 2009 Great Wolf Lodge brochure 2009 Busch Gardens Williamsburg brochure 2012 Fun Spot brochure 2009 Kings Dominion brochure 2009 Go Karts Plus brochure 2009 Kennywood map 2012 Legoland Billund brochure (reserved) 2012 Kansas City Lego Discovery Center brochure/map 2012 Sea Life Aquarium Kansas City brochure/map 2012 Darien Lake map 2012 Kings Island map 2012 Cedar Point brochure 2012 Holiday World brochure 2012 Columbus Zoo map I'm interested in anything from before 2009 as well as foreign stuff and brochures/maps showcasing major new rides/attractions. I'll take anything I don't have though. I'd like to get a KD 2007 map and a 2011 Indiana Beach map if anyone has an extra they're willing to give away.
  4. Drop towers technically didn't exist until the 80s. If you want to keep the time period, you could transform the space shot into a parachute tower instead as those existed in the 70s. As for the odd dates on the looping coasters, you could push the time period forward a bit and say the coasters were built at a different year. As for everything else, I don't see that big of an issue with the park overall. Just keep up with updates and you've got a good park. A lot of these timeline parks start off with a bang but kinda fizzle out in the end (for various reasons).
  5. I use a mix of Firefox and Chrome with Opera (doesn't seem as compatible with a lot of websites though) as a backup browser. All of them run fairly well and all of them have their pros/cons.
  6. Well they both have Dinosaurs and Windseekers. I can't really see why they both can't have wing coasters either (although I do think having two Windseeker towers in the same state is a bit odd). At least they're not that close to each other like Coast Rider and Technic Coaster or Goliath and Great White. And they probably won't be exact copies either.
  7. Why not tear down Shockwave first? It is older, it has a reputation to be rough as well, and TOGO parts must be harder to come by being that unlike in the case of Arrow having Vekoma, Chance Morgan, and S&S there isn't really an old business partner or successor of their technology. Shockwave actually has a lot of spare parts that can be used, plus it's not very maintenance heavy like some rides are. Don't expect it to be going for a few more years.
  8. Any trains that are actually themed to something. - Car-themed trains (Verbolten, Texas Giant, Rock n' Roller Coaster, Top Thrill Dragster) - Wing coaster trains (XRaptor, Swarm, X-Flight) - Trains that look like trains (Big Thunder Mountain, Expedition Everest, Maverick) - Trains that look like animals (Manta, Cheetah Hunt) General train types - Dive Machine trains - Skyrush's trains - Intamin prefab trains - 4D coaster trains - Millennium Flyers and Timberliners Disney/Universal can pull off some pretty cool vehicle designs.
  9. As long as the suspended coasters stay I guess. I'm actually surprised that the suspended coasters weren't slated for removal first. I don't have a problem with Anaconda leaving, although I'd love to ride at least KI's Vortex before those mega-loopers leave forever. What is up with those things anyway? Everyone seems to be taking them out one by one. It's definitely a shame to see the smaller corkscrew coasters go too. - Isn't CP's Corkscrew one of their more iconic rides because it goes over the midway? - Anyone know if Dragon Fyre (CW) is on the chopping block too? That park isn't known for removing coasters.
  10. I'm in the process of watching One Piece and Bleach right now. Both are pretty good so far. I'm in Season 2 of One Piece and around E26 of Bleach. I don't think I'll ever finish either series though.
  11. Montu is easily the best coaster in the entire park followed by Cheetah Hunt and then Kumba at least in my opinion. Gwazi is skippable and Sheikra's alright. I'm not the biggest dive machine fan so Sheikra wasn't really that impressive outside of the theming. The park is huge. Prepare to do a lot of walking. If you wanna see everything, you may need to spend more than a day at the park. The train and skyride are often overlooked. I highly recommend doing those if you wanna get a look at the animals without paying for a tour. Plus you can get up close and personal to Montu and Sheikra. Despite the park's size, there aren't many flats to choose from. Ride-wise, it's just the coasters and water rides. When do you plan on visiting? I visited on a Sunday in May and walked on to just about everything except Cheetah Hunt (15-20 min wait max). If you're spending two weeks in the area, I'd suggest going on a weekday so you don't have to deal with many crowds.
  12. I call dibs on some of those. What are you looking for? EDIT: My main list is at the top of the previous page.
  13. To be fair, nobody's overreacting to anything. The park just posted an update and pictures and everyone's just posting their concerns. There's no "OH TEH HUMANITY. TEH WORLD'S GUNNA END CUZ MEH FAVURIT PLACE IN TEH WURLD IS DESTROYED" and I'm sure most of the people posting on their page are locals who were directly affected by the storm anyway. If there are comments like that, I probably missed them. Hershey and Knoebels had the exact same reactions last year on their Facebook pages after their floods.
  14. I tried stocking up on cans of Full Throttle before the storm hit, but the 7-11 stuck them hidden in a locker behind the onion rings. Now I need to figure out what the combination is.
  15. A $25 million mega coaster seems too big for a small park like Lagoon. At most I could see the park getting a Mack launcher like Blue Fire or Manta. Maybe a smaller Intamin installation like a Zacspin or a Prefab could work, but not a mega coaster. A Giant Discovery sounds more reasonable considering the park worked with Zamperla for their Air Race ride. Plus I hear those rides are actually pretty good.
  16. Sandy's almost on her way out. We've been getting steady rain with some wind for the past 3 days now. Now it's just cloudy with a light breeze.
  17. Yeah this is upsetting to the owners, but I'm pretty sure they have an attack plan in place for when storms like this come in to trash the piers. As long as they aren't in trouble financially, they'll bounce back next year with potentially bigger/better rides.
  18. Luna Park and Morey's seem to have made it out of the storm alright. All the inland parks seem to be doing fine as well. Let's hope everyone else made it out okay.
  19. Now that the season's finally over, I'll give my final thoughts on this year's HOS. Mazes Bitten: 5/5 - Done 5 times - I can definitely see why this maze keeps coming back year after year. The theming is good, the actors are always on point, and the scares are fantastic. I don't understand why everyone knocks this maze because it's consistently good. Catacombs: 5/5 - Done 3 times - Another solid maze with some really good scares. The theming isn't as elaborate as Bitten's, but the great actors totally make up for it's shortcomings (a short maze with pretty minimal theming). Luckily it felt a bit longer this year than it did last year. Deadline: 5/5 - Done 3 times - This maze was definitely improved from last year. They had some fantastic actors and the theming is top-notch (even better than Bitten's). The additional props, special effects, and scareactors really make this one of the most improved mazes from last year. 13: 3/5 - Done 2 times - This maze really needs a bit of tweaking done. The actors are pretty good and some of the rooms are really well-done, but the empty rooms, plus some of the odd scares (waiting room? seriously?) really bring the maze down. I remember it being better last year, but not by much. Root of All Evil: 3/5 - Done 5 times - This started out as the weakest maze of the season, but underwent some major improvements as the season progressed. I still think some of the scares were really creative and well-done (Am I the only person that likes the water splashing? It's no different from getting spewed with toilet water in an abandoned subway), while others were a bit of a miss. If the park really wants to improve the maze, they should ditch the cheap makeup and come up with some more elaborate props/costumes. Fear Fair: 1/5 - Done once - I unfortunately was only able to do this once this year, but this maze was pretty weak this year and last. I hear it's improved, but I was only really able to do this maze early in the season. Maybe next year I'll get to do this maze a few more times later in the season. Roaming Hoards: 4/5 - Like the scare zones last year, the hoards started out pretty weak, but got stronger and stronger as the season progressed. I still think they need to add more people to the groups along with the scare zones sorta like last year's (at least change the makeup for the people in the zones so they don't look like the hoards. The bungee people were awesome though, especially the one in New France. I guess I can't say much about the shows other than they were all amazing. BGW really pulled out all the stops this year for HOS shows. Dig It Up: 5/5 - seen once - Like I said before, anything that combines Queen with Star Trek is a winner in my book. The actors are great and the show itself is a lot of fun to watch. Night Beats: 5/5 - seen once - Fantastic music combined with fantastic acting all make for a great show. Fiends: 5/5 - Probably the best show IMO. I think moving the show to Ireland was a great idea. It definitely made gave the show a little more of an "adult" feel that the old show didn't seem to have (and I guess that made it a bit more entertaining). I kinda miss Frankenstein though. Maybe they could make him part of the roaming hoards. Overall, I'd have to put this year's event on par with last year's. The park still needs to tweak the event a bit (starting with closing the children's areas earlier for HOS prep), but I really enjoyed this year's event just as much as I did last year's. I unfortunately missed out on KD's event though due to some unforeseen circumstances (I couldn't get a ride home), but there's always next year for that.
  20. the miracle of life, but because of its controversial theme, SFMM had to
  21. Your pics aren't so bad for such a crappy camera. Mine is probably worse actually. Veil of Darkness sounds like a pretty interesting ride. Disney/Universal should definitely consider building something like that as a future E-ticket attraction. I had no idea a combination shooting dark ride/spinning coaster actually existed. I believe the random giant robot is a Gundam (which is sorta like Transformers from what I've seen, but without the transforming part). Still nerdy to know that kind of stuff though
  22. But doesn't RCT already exist for Windows?
  23. You can just upload the photos to the site without using Photobucket. There's an "add image and video" function beneath the box where you write your post. If the file is too big, you may need to resize it as the site has a size limit.
  24. A few more shots to end the day. We spent half our time at port touring the downtown are and the other half checking out the hotel side. The Marriott hotel that acted as the gateway to the port was really nice. The other hotels? Not as much, but at least they were colorful. I love these small public squares. They look pretty nice. Signature shot Looking toward the terminal The governor's palace A better shot of the terminal Toward the hotels side of the waterway This was one of those combination hotel/casino type places. It looked nice from a distance, but as you got closer, you could easily tell this was an old building. The casino on the inside wasn't the nicest place in the world either. HoJo's made it down here too. Dad in front of a statue There was a little flea market set up on the hotels side of the waterway where you could buy the typical Caribbean stuff. The sun's starting to break out. It was still fairly cloudy, though. Like I said before, I wish we spent a little more time at port. Thanks so much for reading. Coming soon... Klassy Kruise home and Busch Gardens Tampa
  25. ^ X was a problematic ride from the start, and MM wasn't too happy with it so they literally sued Arrow out of existence. Usually trims being cranked up/down has to do with the speed of the train and the weight of the riders. If the train is rolling too fast, trims will kick in to slow it down.
