  1. Mach Tower and DarKastle are the only two significant flats that you should hit. Everything else is your typical garden variety flat ride you can find just about anywhere else. As for rows - Apollo is most definitely a back row or close to back row ride - Alpengeist = front or second row - Loch Ness = second to back for more legroom and a slightly better ride - Griffon = front if you wanna hang over the drop, back if you want better ejector air over both drops - Verbolten = front for a good view, back for a more intense ride. There are effects you can see in the front that can't be seen in the back and vice versa (front does have bigger effects though)
  2. I was looking at it as well and notice something different about it, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Thanks for the explanation! It kinda reminds me of Storm Runner's snake dive. RCDB Coasterguy, Magic Mountain
  3. Or Volcano had bad capacity. - I'm sure Gatekeeper won't be the most popular ride at Cedar Point either.
  4. This coaster definitely feels like a certain "lightning fast", car-themed Virginia coaster (except without the launches). I really like it though. The ride goes surprisingly fast for a kiddie coaster. Like everyone else said, it definitely leans more toward the family coaster side of things.
  5. Can't be any worse than Volcano. I hear that ride still gets pretty bad lines, even on slow days.
  6. No. Look at what happened to Geauga Lake (or even the SF corporation as a whole) for a good example of that not working out in the end. You have to have more than just rides to keep paying customers coming back year after year.
  7. Second (or third if you count the one that everyone did) submission Keeping it simple
  8. Parks become successful for a lot of reasons, not just rides/attractions plopped down. Coasters and rides definitely have some say in attendance. Good advertising Rides/attractions for everyone to enjoy. Bonus points if the park is geared towards families A good market to draw many people from Great customer service (should be above all) SF Mid America and Valleyfair don't really have enough people to justify shiny new toys every other year like Magic Mountain and Cedar Point do. Yes a shiny new major coaster will most definitely draw people to the park, but the popularity is bound to die down and attendance returns to normal levels again. Magic Mountain probably doesn't fit all the criteria listed above, but they meet enough of them to maintain a decent attendance level.
  9. Google Glass is the coolest thing to come out of Google since the last time they invented something really cool (and that seems to happen a whole lot nowadays).
  10. Both Texas Giant and El Toro were around the $10M-$12M range so it doesn't really surprise me to see Outlaw (and possibly Iron Rattler) costing around the same price.
  11. Drunk lady shutting a coaster down pushing on the gates too hard. A few fights (although pretty much all of them were verbal fortunately). A group of people arguing about what shut the coaster down (sitting on the brake run). A couple of people changing their ADA access forms to grant ride access (they'd try to bypass ride restrictions, even though normally they wouldn't be permitted to ride). A deer hopping a fence and getting really close to the ride Lines for the kiddie rides stretching down the pathways on busy days (very rare occurrence). Usually drunk people hopping fences to retrieve lost hats The usual dumb comments Lady almost passed out on the roller coaster. Medical team had to come in and carry her out on a stretcher. Lady berating her kid for freaking out on the swings. I saw him earlier on a kiddie ride, but when he freaked out on the swing, his mother yanked him out of the seat and dragged him out of the ride kicking and screaming. Everybody on the ride looked freaked out. Stories I've heard A gay couple making out in a dark ride, then leaving the car and running around the inside of the building. A ride lead getting into a fight with another employee. He took a dustpan and whacked his coworker across the face.
  12. If you download the track from another website and claim it as your own, you're technically stealing the track and not giving credit. That kind of stuff is frowned upon in a lot of places and can get you into big trouble. If someone catches you snagging people's tracks and putting them up for download on other websites, you could have your tracks removed and/or get banned from said site.
  13. ^^ You're definitely missing out on a good time. One accident on what everyone calls the Wal-Mart of the seas shouldn't turn people off from an awesome experience. - Next everyone's gonna say roller coasters are unsafe too EDIT: Looks like Robb beat me to the punch
  14. So parents planned a last minute cruise this March on a Holland America ship. Since this is my first time sailing with them, anyone know what I should expect in terms of things to do onboard like activities/shows/etc?
  15. Its been a while since I've posted something here. Anyway here's my latest project. Geauga Lake: Reborn. Geauga Lake seemed to have such an interesting history to it. I decided to draw what could've been a possible scenario for the park. What if, in an alternate reality, Geauga Lake survived through the 90s-2000s and became a full-fledged resort? If competition wasn't so heavy, SF managed the parks well, Sea World built rides, etc. Clicky for artists notes, a clearer image, and a more detailed description. Clicky for Sea World Ohio Clicky for Wildwater (Kingdom) Harbor Shameless plug. You can find a lot of cool stuff on my dA page! I'll be sure to upload the pics to deviantART soon enough. Geauga Lake - the largest of the 3 images and the one with the most rides. Sea World Ohio the water park
  16. ^^^ Most of those fast food joints are more regional than national, which might be why you don't see them where you live. Hardees is essentially Carl's Jr in East Coast form and Rally's seems to be more of a Southern thing while Northerners have Checkers.
  17. The park is marketing the ride. Yeah it's weird that the park is advertising "first roller coaster in the world to have its own theme song" when at least 2 of their own coasters have a custom theme song as well. But marketing is bound to blow things like that out of proportion. Full Throttle still looks pretty sweet though.
