  1. Crowds are heavily dependent on the weather and/or special events going on in summertime. Since you're going midweek, crowds shouldn't be an issue at all. If the weather calls for heavy rain or extreme VA heat during the day, expect the park to be a ghost town. Just be sure to hit Apollo at fireworks time. Mach Tower will be hit-miss in terms of operation, so don't make that a priority. Crowds may pick up at fireworks time. Just note, a few of the rides (including Verbolten and the train) will shut down before fireworks.
  2. I haven't seen Statix/CDX models sold in the park for years. As far as I know, the park stopped carrying them a while ago. You may need to contact Coaster Dynamix directly or send the park a suggestion to carry them again. If the park gets enough demand for them, you'll likely see the models return. July 1st won't be bad at all. Considering it's the first night of Illuminights/official peak season and it's close to the 4th weekend, you may see heavier than normal crowds in the afternoon/late night hours, but as long as it's hot and humid, everyone's gonna be at Water Country. I'd recommend hitting the rides based on the staggered opening times. You should be able to get rerides and minimal wait for most everything if you follow that schedule. Fastpasses probably won't even be required on that day most likely. I like the San Marco theater restaurant and the Smokehouse in terms of food. The Festhaus has AC and includes a show though (Entwined during the day and This is Oktoberfest at night). The pretzel shop is not to be missed at all.
  3. Yep that was me The park is definitely geared more towards families than thrillseekers like KD is, but it's still an awesome park. I'd personally recommend coming back and staying longer to see the shows and sights.
  4. Started Instagram last month and it's pretty fun/addicting. Follow me here. I'll be sure to follow back!
  5. Were you the one at Busch wearing that Bat t-shirt on Wednesday? You should've stayed at Busch longer if you only spent a few hours there.
  6. I've been told it shares the power system with Giant Drop, so TOT only goes halfway up the tower to allow Giant Drop to travel up and down. I'm guessing Drop of Doom and Superman both have different power systems, so Superman can launch further up the tower. Even with DOD operating. Either that or DOD/Superman's power system is more efficient.
  7. Yours would be Iron Dragon. Would yours happen to be Rebel Yell?
  8. Me and my sister will be heading up to Hershey sometime late next month and I'm looking for a reasonable place to stay. We're not looking for anything too fancy since we're on a budget, but my sister doesn't wanna stay in a dump so no Motel 6's and Super 8's. Something mid-range would suit our tastes. Does anybody have any suggestions?
  9. Canada's Wonderland has kept the highest attendance of any regional park in North America long before CF purchased it. Seeing staying at the top is no big surprise. I'm pretty sure all the capital CF's investing in the park is definitely helping it keep its crown.
  10. 2010 is the most recent imagery the satellite took of the park. It's still low quality so the 2005 picture is still set to default. You can actually use the historic imagery in other places too. Some of the images go back to the early-mid 90s and even earlier if you're hovering over a major city. Its cool to see how much these places change over time from the aerial views.
  11. Granted. You hated Astroworld and Texas Tornado so much, you sent a scathing letter to the park, ruining the park's reputation, forcing it to close in 2005. I wish for a dancing banana.
  12. So apparently Loch Ness Monster had its soft opening 35 years ago today. The park posted a little video tribute to the ride. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Here's to 35 more years of awesome. Taken Christmas Town 2012
  13. As long as you don't touch July 4th weekend, crowds should be manaegable for most of the month. July 4th weekend crowds have a habit of getting pretty nasty come fireworks time. I'd recommend going later in the month when the temps start heating up since 90+ degree temps generally keep people away from parks.
  14. My guess is the image was leaked and shared around the interwebz before appearing on Facebook. The park hasn't made it public yet, so at this point, it's just a rumor. Its only a matter of time before SFGAm runs everything else backwards. Maybe they'll even require people to walk around the park backwards eventually too
  15. I woke up, opened up my Facebook feed, and saw this picture. Anyone have any more info on this? - Or why SF always seems to do cruddy photoshop jobs?
  16. If you're really looking into visiting GAdv, BGW, or CP, those parks are weekend only operation in October. Not only that, but all three of those parks are generally far apart (looking at a 6 hour drive between NYC and BGW, plus you'll have to deal with tolls and possible traffic). Google Maps says its a 7 hour drive to Cedar Point from New York. If you're gonna be in New York, you're better off checking out just Great Adventure. Those parks will most definitely be crowded for Halloween events. Fridays and Sundays are generally good for crowds.
  17. Rare and cool Holiday World gear put up for auction to help tornado victims! Stumbled across this cool article while browsing the web. Kudos to HW for doing this.
  18. The death toll dropped from 51 to 24 early today. Still terrible, but much better than last night. CNN article with the latest developments Huffington Post with all kinds of pictures and tweets - Damn nature, you scary.
  19. ^^ The ride doesn't really have a theme. The t-shirt designs look to be based off of those shirts bikers wear. I'd say some of those designs actually look nice. Much better than the overdesigned crap some parks put out.
  20. ^ Wait what? Disasters as setups for stuff? Conspiracy theories? Not like we've never heard of THAT stuff before Although I fully believe Bane set up those bombs to get back at Batman for ruining his plan to take over Gotham.
  21. Does anyone know if Disney gives return times for ADA guests? I know at many parks, they're given a paper at the entrance when they apply for the program. When they go to a ride, the employee gives them a return time based on the length of the line (similar to Disney's Fastpass system). Its definitely more fair than just letting them up at the exit willy nilly, plus it doesn't hurt capacity. - And there will always be people who love cheating the system. Whether or not they decide to pay money to do that is up to them, but you really don't need to shell out hundreds of dollars to do that (upcharge Fastpasses or not).
  22. Granted, Monaco is accidentally nuked by North Korea. I wish I could travel through time and space with a Time Lord.
  23. Gatekeeper B-roll footage is finally here! [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] While watching that B-roll footage of Gatekeeper, I stumbled across this lovely video. Raptor time-lapse construction video from 1993-1994. It was probably taken from a documentary or a promo vid (hence the cheesy music). - Kick the Sky!
  24. Pompeii and DarKastle are included in the all-park tour. Not sure if they incorporated it into the coaster tour. Verbolten had its own separate tour last year, but I believe it was integrated into the coaster tour this year. I don't recall the tour going into any of the maintenance bays outside of Griffon and Loch Ness. - Check your PMs.
  25. To be fair, Americans love their stuff "X-treme, gimmicky, YOLO", but stuff that causes them pain is a turn-off to them. I honestly wouldn't want my legs to lose circulation on a ride either.
