  1. If management is picky about how the ride should be done, the general public is almost determined to make it a pain for the ride operators. After months of people doing the things that the ops are trained to tell people not to do, it can get very irritating. Especially when your supervisor is there and people are doing it, then you get ripped a new one I do have to wonder though, the park has only been open for a few weeks right now. Attendance can't have been all that great just yet...they really don't have any reason I can see to be so nasty about it.
  2. Wooden coasters are pretty much air-time machines (especially the new ones). However, in terms of steel I'd have to say Maverick, Diamondback, and Magnum are among my favorites.
  3. I would love to see a Speed Racer roller coaster (or maybe Test Track kind of ride). That would be the most epic thing EVER, especially if they could combine it from scenes from the movie. So much potential *drools*
  4. Agreed, I can think of several circumstances over the summer when I worked at CP where less strenuous circumstances were occurring and they took far longer. Not to say that the folks over at CP don't do a fantastic job, just that sometimes there are situations where you'd think it would be a fast and easy response time, and yet it takes a huge amount of time. Props to the crew over there!
  5. I have to make it out to the park this year. I need to ride Voyage, and the other world class rides out there. Wildebeest looks phenomenal!
  6. I really need to find a way to get across the Atlantic and visit these parks...
  7. Not necessarily. If B&M needs to get force measurements, I would almost go as far to say that they would want to include as many elements as possible so they can get it right. But that's just my opinion.
  8. I can't really say the video impressed me at all. But I'll hold off judgment until I see the entire show. I'm a fan of Disney for how well they theme their attractions, not much of a show person. I've never really thought that the fireworks and after-dark light parades were all that great in my few visits to the Disney parks. In fact, I found the parades more irritating than anything else, as they caused congestion on the midways in an already packed park. I really hope this doesn't have the same effect. I don't know if it was posted before, but how big is the viewing area in regards to the surrounding midway?
  9. ^Or they could get original with the name and "themeing" (this is Cedar Fair after all), and have something not Intimidator themed. Honestly, who knows what the next direction the park is going to take. They just built Diamondback, so the need for a coaster ~200ft is diminished, they have a fairly decent collection of flat rides (not saying its amazing, just average). I think they could go anywhere from this point onward.
  10. I highly doubt Cedar Fair would even consider running another park right now. They're too mired down in the Apollo mess, and it feels like they're too desperate for funding to even think about any other commercial ventures at the moment. I think Cedar Fair is a safe bet to stay out of this mess.
  11. Don't worry Brian, you'll probably see me many many times when I come to visit. I love your crew and the ride. Great friends with most of them, just sad I can't be there this year
  12. Chris, you have an AWESOME ATL, Kelsey is one of my best friends, and Bre is a pretty awesome crew member too. I can't wait to come visit the Magnum crew this year! Have fun
  13. $20 Walmart shoes every two weeks or $60 New Balance that lasted me three months (I worked Thunder Canyon and Magnum, so running was a necessity) and were significantly more comfortable. That's just my past experience though.
  14. I have to wonder what the ride would be like without the little pre-drop first. Just start with the big drop...I would think that would be more thrilling, but who knows. I also am curious as to if they can change the drop sequence, that would provide a re-ride factor that not many other rides can give. I don't think there's a single coaster out there that can say it provides a different ride every time (aside from the obvious seat switching).
  15. Don't skimp on your shoes. And when they wear out, don't go to Walmart, seriously go shoe shopping. Try and visit a few websites (thepointol and pointbuzz) where they have employee forums, you can find roommates and ask folks more specific questions. As for the job itself, honestly its the most fun thing I've ever done. The work flat out sucks for the most part, however the people you meet, the friends you make, and the memories that are had during the season are the absolute best part. I have friends from last summer that I'm planning on visiting several times over the course of this year (since I can't work at the park this year). Another suggestion I have for you is if the opportunity to cross train opens itself, TAKE IT! Its awesome to learn the other rides in the park, and on top of that make friends with their crews and other management. Also, don't hate your ride. If you have ridden Mean Streak you may have noticed its a bit rough. After a few times around though, you'll learn to love it and eventually you'll find yourself pushing the ride on others, you seriously fall in love with your home location. Don't knock the ride until YOU know it. Riding once isn't the same as working at it for an entire season. You'll learn the ride's quirks, ins and outs, who's gonna fit and who you're gonna have to give the walk of shame to. If all the Supervisors and Managers are the same, there is a truly awesome team of supervision at the helm. Oh yeah, and don't forget to keep your clears straight! Good luck!
  16. I understand the rest of your post, but Intamin far outshines B&M when it comes to layout and element innovation and improvement in my opinion. If you don't mind me asking, what is it that makes you think B&M is more innovative than Intamin?
  17. If you rode Maverick or Magnum XL-200 (<3) then you should be fine riding TTD and Millennium Force (I305 is TBD). Magnum and Maverick surpass the intensity level (albiet MF has a breathtaking drop and view of the park and Lake Erie). You are safe, and if the ride does break down (duno if thats a concern for you) you will be compensated for the time lost on the ride and the park staff will work as quickly as possible to evacuate the ride or to fix the problem and get you moving. Hope that helps some.
  18. Next paycheck I am all over this.
  19. They should rename Rita to Christine, it would fit their "dark forest" theme a whole lot better Unfortunately we can't tell much by the map...
  20. ^ Obvious answer: ITS OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!! (Bad DBZ Joke )
  21. Happy Birthday KidTums! Enjoy it!
  22. I love that picture! The park is truly beautiful!
  23. Here you go, you can download them yourself: http://www.putmeonthenet.net/content/old_spice/scenery.html That's his official website, so if you're looking for anything else by him you should be able to find it there.
  24. Ok, I have to ask! In the picture with your train in it, what CS are you using to get the train crossing gates? That is fantastic, and I would love to have that in my parks. Also, does it act like a pathway that the peeps can cross or do you have to have them go across another way? Love the park so far, keep up the great work!
