I love the "Forward-Looking Statements" section. We believe that we should be able to turn this company around, but we cannot predict the future and you cannot hold us liable if these statements do not become true. I think the unbelievable thing is the amount of turnover the past couple of years have brought in the industry. Six Flags sells off numerous properties to Parc Management. Busch Entertainment goes to Blackstone. Cedar Fair to Apollo. There are always opportunities out there, and though recessions generally hurt everyone, they do bring about a lot of change and hope.

How did you end up here???
themeparkman25 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I posted my model of SheiKra over on Coastersims, and it got ripped apart. So I came to the warm, loving community of TPR. It is almost my 1 year birthday too! -
Yeah, yeah, yeah, Matt. You get to ride Manta whenever you want. You know I'm jealous haha. But then I rebutal by saying I have a Walter Bolliger autographed dive machine brochure. "Touche, Jordan. Touche." That's OK, I am sure someday we will end up in management somewhere ruling the place. I will glady ride X2, but first is the new credit in Terminator. Chemical- Are you going to give Manta a go or another coaster? I have found all my coasters to be fun to make, except for TTD. The only reason that one wasn't fun is because I had "refined" my building techniques in building Insane, and when I went back to finish TTD I was unhappy with its quality. At this point though, Manta has been the most fun simply because styrene is fun to work with (though it burns me everytime), and it makes a perfect looking coaster. Like I said before, the innacuracies of this coaster aren't going to come from the building technique, but from the supplies. The supplies I bought were for Riddler, which is obviously not Manta. Either way, I am using part 199 for the spine, it is the largest solid piece they have. I thought about going with the tube style so it could be bigger, but the problem comes that when you bend it, you are stretching one side and stuffing another, and you would ultimately wreck the square. The biggest supports are 232, and the majority are 228. I am looking in to getting some that are in the middle of those though. The rails are 214, and the ties are cut from 1mm thick sheets of white. If you have any more specific questions, shoot me a PM, I will go more in depth. Random story of the day: I buzzed my head for the first time in a decade. I went from having 6+ inch long hard, to a number 4 in a months time. One more final! Then break. Look for an update soon, assuming you guys are ready for first drop action. No one had the xmas tree needed for the topping off.

I live in Boulder, Colorado where every April 20th, pot is pretty much legal. About 20,000 people gather on campus and smoke it, and the police literally stand around and watch. I am a Resident Assistant in the dormitories, and we do not allow it whatsoever. So I guess it depends on the day, but most days its a no go here, and this place is as liberal as they come. I have not and will not smoke it, but I guess I am not against it. Its your life, do with it as you choose. I mean, really, every person on this site gets their high off of (intamin) airtime.

Tiger Woods's return: How will he do?
themeparkman25 replied to thrillgeek's topic in Random, Random, Random
Lets say he does come back but it is not for awhile, how do you stay on top of your game on an island in Sweden? I guess that is assuming Elin lets him live there with her. Perhaps he will just ride Piraten a bunch. -
^Hence why you are a moderator? haha.

Ya that glue should work fine. All I can say is you're being quite bold for (your first) model, and I wish you the best of luck. Goliath at SFOG is one of my favorites, and so is AC, so I would be very interested to see what you do with those. Mantis similarly is a good coaster, remember I was going to do Riddlers for a little bit. Best of luck my friend, and I will be here to answer any other questions or assist you. 2 finals down, 3 to go. Then its first drop time.

^Um, I'd say that the Victoria Secret holiday bras might be better. Actually, they are better. My present is for Dan (netdvn) hahaha.

Well, I want with what was advised to me in using styrene, and well, Evergreen Scale Models was the company I went with. The other company offered to me, on page 2 I think, was incredibly rude and frankly doesn't deserve my or your business. [/rant] To connect the spine to the the rails by little strips I cut out of sheets. The sheets are just standard white sheets on their website. Then I use styrene glue, same stuff that you would use for a model car, to put everything together. Any idea what coaster you are going to build?

Matt- I mean, TTD does compare that engine to the engines found in top fuel dragsters, so in that case I wouldn't say it is that absurd. But it is Ka and even a corvette doesn't go 0-128 in 3.5. Correct me if I am wrong, but HellCat has PTC's? If so, does it have seatbelts? That was something that always drove me nuts with working at Twister II, that people wouldn't buckle and when I would tell them they need to buckle, they ask if they have to.

The Sunset Resort [RCT2]

Hmmm, looks like a problem to me. Probably deals with the cables, made by the one company who has had some recent problems with cables. -

Thirteen- A psychoaster. I like it! Still nothing on the mystery element though!! Number 1 destination for thrills and coasters is a pretty bold statement too, I mean, all things considered. This has been fun so far, and I am sure it is only going to get better. -
Triggernel- Thanks! I'm psyched at how she is turning out. Atem-Nah. But I'll be at SFMM over xmas break, maybe I'll see you there. Squid-haha Thanks! I am with you with making a smaller working model before going to a big one. The biggest problem I am encountering with making one though, is the scale. If I went in HO or O scale, I would use coasterdynamix trains and lift hill, but make the track myself. But I am significantly beneath that scale, largely thanks to the size of my dorm room, which hinders me from going bigger. Either way, I am putting more attention to detail in to this model than I have the others, so the finished product should be sweet. Thrillrideseeker- Thanks. As to your question, the reason I am painting last is because of the glue. On SheiKra, I had to go back and paint over all the glue for the rails, all of this after the spine and supports got painted. With this styrene glue too, it literally chemically melts the pieces together and it takes awhile to completely dry, so I figured it would be more efficient to do it at the end. Also, I don't really want to smell it in my small living space. Jizzy- Hopefully you got here through my signature. I just added it there hoping to get more people who never come to this thread to check it out. And yes, it is a lot of fun, though very time consuming. Fraroc-We'll see when it is complete. As the coasterdynamix guy said, it is tough to carry the speed on something so tiny. I guess we will see later, for now I just want it to look perfect.

^Failed the three arrows, SO he might be directionally challenged lol. VForgot to put deodorant on today.

I am definitely in favor of painting the inside of the slides, but not to the egg color you have suggested in a few of the options. I also like the inviting colors instead of the menacing black because it sounds like they are family(ish) slides and black just seems so dark. That leaves me with my pick of option 4. However, if the inside colors are going to allow light inside, I would opt to go with the inside painted black to keep them dark on the inside. With that in mind, I would maybe suggest the colors on the outside, and perhaps black on the inside. Good luck!

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

To agree with everyone; the entire website seems to be neglected and never really streaming well. Whether it is very few blog's, not posting pictures of ceremonial events in the construction process, or the fact the webcam only sometimes works, the site just seems to be there for the sake of being there. Oh well, the webcam works today and it looks like the temporary support on the lift hill was removed and the second hill has reached its max. I don't know about you, but I think you are seriously going to get thrown from your seat on the hill, it looks fantastic. OTSR's or not, I am very excited about this coaster, and deep down inside you know you are too. -
How much did the mouse coaster cost? I build models myself, but they are static and built from scratch, so I am curious to see more of the construction of yours and the cost as well. One question though- how do the trains get up the lift hill? Like what does the drive mechanism look like? You have done great so far, so keep up the good work.

The park has a very nice feel to it, so good job! You seem to have a nice selection of rides as well, including some nice looking coasters. My only concern is that the impulse is far under supported on the spikes. Take a look at a real impulse and try to replicate that. I am not too familiar with rct3, so I don't know if you can do that, but I would definitely give it a try. Keep up the good work.
