  1. ^ Whelp! It looks like back to the busses again for a while. Good thing we just left. Seriously though, it’s not like this is Doppelmayr’s first rodeo. We saw their trucks were still on site the last time we rode it on Friday the 5th. We even joked about the cars looking like they would collide coming into the station, because they do come in quickly and stop suddenly. Needless to say, with a product this new, this is terrible press and this is going to hurt Doppelmayr more than it’s going to hurt Disney.
  2. ^ Between the three southern resorts on the Skyliner I would definitely spend a little extra money for the Caribbean Beach resort. While I can’t compare the rooms (since we stayed at the Fort Wilderness campground) the grounds and amenities of Caribbean beach were so much more pleasant. The main pool was way nicer with water slides. And the food options were very delicious. I could tell they recently renovated the lobby and it was gorgeous. I ate at Banana Cabana and it was one of the best meals we had on property. I’ve heard good things about Sebastian’s Bistro too. The extra walking is worth it, and the resort has 6 pools so one is probably not too far from you. Pop Century and Art of Animation still seemed like a ton of walking to me, especially if you stay in a room further away from the Skyliner. AND does the amount of walking you do at the Caribbean Beach resort compare to the amount of time you save skipping one leg, and a transfer on the Skyliner? It seems like a wash, and if you have no kids I would definitely prefer the Caribbean Beach. As far as the Skyliner goes, loved it! Miss having an attraction like this at Magic Kingdom but this definitely makes up for it. We extended our campground reservations a week longer so we could experience the new mode of transportation. It lived up to most of our expectations. We went on two days when it was 95 outside and we were concerned it was going to be hot. Most of the time it was not. However, the Skyliner slowed down frequently on the Epcot/Riviera line due to the ECV & Wheelchair loading area not working. We slowed down and stopped almost every 30 seconds. It got brutally hot in the Skyliner and it’s October. When it is working the Skyliner has to slow down to allow one car to transfer to the ECV loading area. This too caused the breeze to dissipate and making the ride too hot and uncomfortable. I do think Disney’s going to get complaints about the cars being too hot. Yes an A/C might be too much to ask, but at least a fan?
  3. I was just at the park yesterday and so many people were watching the shows! I noticed the animal shows are still extremely popular, and most of the GP has forgotten about the Blackfish scandal. I think SeaWorld’s advertisements of rescuing 31,000 animals and using the animals as a means to learn about them scientifically is working wonders for the shows. You can tell the trainers really care about the animals. As far as the new 2020 ride Ice Breaker, any new coaster is a win in my book, especially one in the Arctic area, which would help pull crowds back to that side of the park. The lower height requirements help Ice Breaker to be that “stepping stone” coaster between Super Grover and something more intense like Kraken. And I love the colors and the theme of the ride. Great job SeaWorld!
  4. ^ Word on Twitter says they stopped using the reservation/virtual queue system at 5:30 PM as the crowds had died down considerably by then. So should be interesting to look at the MDE app to check wait times for the next few weeks before I go myself. Wonder if having such early extra magic hours will make everyone leave by 6:00 PM since that’s already a 12 hour park day? Nights would be preferable to early AM or afternoon IMO, but I’m just trying to make sure I get into the land
  5. Kinda funny how both of these attractions had a similar presence in the past of the park’s history. With wheelie being removed years ago for Skyscreamer & Shake, Rattle n Roll removed for Dare Devil Dive. So I guess the park has had their scrambler in storage for all these years and are pulling it out again? I miss it’s former location because it was a great way to get into some air conditioning, and who doesn’t love a scrambler in the dark. Most excited about the Zamperla ride, since I’ve never done one.
  6. Wow! Totally excited about the Jersey Devil Coaster! Orange with grey supports were my go to color combinations on RCT. 12 rows of cars should add some nice ejector air to the last couple of rows, especially over that first drop! Wish we had heard the actual height of the ride. Judging by the renderings it’s a good bit shorter than Nitro. Maybe 100-140ft range? Maybe more? And who isn’t excited about the First American MACK Power Splash, themed to Aquaman! I feel like the video could have touted the half coaster/half water ride aspect better. Must say there were some spot on predictions, like La Ronde, SFFT and SFOT; while some of the other things like the spinning wild mouse at SFDK and the various “booster” flat ride attractions came out of left field. Which by the way, do we expect those boosters to be an up-charged attraction? And is the new spinning wild mouse a NEW build?
  7. ^ The entire ride was designed to give the rider the impression that they’re traveling into the 2D animated universe of Mickey. So even the fountain was designed to give the appearance of a 2D object from every possible angle. I’m really excited about this attraction and kinda bummed it got delayed until next spring. But next time I’m at Disney!
  8. Probably going to be at Disneyland Park, when my boyfriend and I had decided to get a fastpass for Splash Mountain, right before dusk. The boat we got in already had about a half a foot of water floating in the bottom. So due to the extra weight, the rest of the ride we got drenched on every drop. During each lift hill, the water would rush backwards so our feet were completely soaked. To top it all off, we got stuck on the longest lift hill with that morbid music that plays near the vulture animatronics, while the water in our car was pooled around our feet. I had never been more miserable on Splash Mountain as I was when we passed the zip-a-dee-lady boat at the end. We were literally wet until we got back to our hotel, since it wasn't warm and sunny anymore. At the time we were both kinda miserable from being wet and cold, but having a good time on Matterhorn anyway. However looking back onto this experience, we both laugh and wonder why we ever thought to get into that flooded log on Splash Mountain, or ride it at night time in California.
  9. Universal Studios Florida Park for HHN during the week of Sept 8th - 15th. Anyone else going then?
  10. Thanks to those earlier who answered my questions about tickets for HHN. We’re planning on staying at Turkey Lake Campground and cycling to Universal. I was wondering if anyone has ever biked into Universal Orlando before? The only information I found was on another forum and said, “first floor of the parking garage near security.” But I can’t imagine riding my bike through the automobile entrance. The only pedestrian access I can see on google is for the “guest drop off zone” on Universal Blvd, which leads up the escalator to the security checkpoint. Are there any bike racks in that area? Or perhaps at the Lowes hotel? Thanks in advance.
  11. Hey everyone! This is going to be my first year attending HHN during the week of Sept 8th through the 15th, but I’m getting kind of confused with the ticket options. In particular: what happened to “stay and scream?” I just got off the phone with Universal customer service who told me he had no idea what I was talking about. Is “stay and scream” gone for this year? Also the “buy 2 regular park days get 3 free” deal ends on July 31st, but I don’t even know if I need 5 park days when HHN is going on. My main concern is just paying too much money later for less time in the park. Do you guys think it would be worth it to buy those extra regular park days now? Also without “stay and scream” I was thinking 2 nights at HHN would be cheaper than buying 1 night with express pass. But without “stay and scream” it seems like it would be difficult to do everything without express pass. HELP!
  12. Well that’s only a few short months between openings of the new Star Wars attractions. Perhaps that will help reduce crowds around the opening of the land in Late August. I’ll be going in mid-end of September so this makes me feel a bit better about the possible crowd levels. Sad I’m missing the headlining attraction, but I’ll be back to Disney when Guardians and Tron opens anyway.
  13. Hey everyone! I've been playing Super Mario Maker 2, and I've been loving building levels with the new features available. The story mode is pretty cool too. What is your favorite new enemy or item in the game? Mine's the switch blocks, and the spine puffer fish that eats you from Super Mario World. I also found this pretty cool video series called "Salty Mario Maker 2." It features some amazing players, and some salty ones as well Beware, there is some "language" in the videos from the Salty players. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]
  14. I still haven’t been back to Universal Orlando since they opened the original side of Harry Potter at IOA. I was fortunate to get to ride Dueling Dragons while it dueled once. The other two times I tried to ride it, the dispatches weren’t together. But those were some amazing and forceful inverts. I will miss them, but am looking forward to the Harry Potter experience now that there’s a new coaster to try. I am interested to see how the Guardians roller coaster turns out in Epcot to see how Disney manages to tell a story on a roller coaster that’s faster than “7 Dwarfs Mine Train.”
  15. 1. Maverick 2. Voyage 3. Lightning Rod 4. Phantom’s Revenge 5. Ravine Flyer II 6. Millennium Force 7. Twisted Cyclone 8. Superman ROS (SFA) 9. Kumba 10. Afterburn (Carowinds)
  16. I stayed at the Linq, and wish I had known about this before booking, but I signed up for the Total Rewards players club. And if you book a hotel through their website, they’ll often times heavily discount the room. In fact they completely waved the room fee when I looked at a room in December, so you only had to pay the resort fee per night to stay at the Linq. The other hotels like a Bally’s or Caesars Palace were discounted but not as much. I had already booked through Orbitz so ended up paying much more. Next time though!
  17. Matterhorn! Finally! It only took two trips out to Anaheim to get it.
  18. Geez, that sounds terrifying. Not slowing down when you’re supposed to. Sounds like minor injuries for two, but the mother was in critical condition. I hope too they all end up being okay.
  19. I was browsing through Twitter when I saw a press release from Castle Park in regards to the accident that happened a couple of days ago on May 25th. Terrible for the family and the small park. The following is from this ABC News Article A woman was critically injured and her husband and child were also hurt when a water log ride at a California amusement park malfunctioned and flipped over, throwing them from their seats, officials said. The incident occurred at Castle Park in Riverside on the Log Ride, which, according to the park's website, features a 48-foot drop. Riverside Fire Department officials said they were called to the park at 4:37 p.m. and said three members of one family were tossed into the water after something went haywire with the log they were riding in and overturned. "One of the injuries we categorized as critical. With the two others being minor. All were transported to a hospital," a fire official at the scene told ABC Los Angeles station KABC. Witnesses said a 10-year-old boy injured in the incident appeared to suffer a cut to his ear and head injuries, while his father suffered scrapes to his arm and back. The names of the injured family members were not released. Video of the incident showed the injured boy and his father in the water after the log they were in flipped over. Fire department officials said a mechanical problem with a ride's water pump apparently caused the accident. An investigation is underway by the California Department of Health and Safety to determine the exact cause of the malfunction. The Log Ride was immediately shut down pending the outcome of the probe, officials said. A spokeswoman for the Castle Park told KABC that the ride had been inspected earlier Saturday and nothing was found wrong. Press Release from Castle Park
  20. I’m happy that Fun Spot bought this park. They’ve opened plenty of new attractions so far, much needed in this park that was previously languishing under the name Fun Junction, and whatever the previous two names were. A long clearing like that lends itself to a White Lightning layout. Here’s hoping.
  21. I saw this the other day on Twitter, so nice to read the official park announcement! The new wooden coaster looks pretty sweet in the concept art, surrounded by rock work and water features. And a Starflyer themed to a Trident? Sign me up!
  22. Perhaps these Remakes are doing exactly what Disney wants them to do. Give the audience a taste of the film they used to enjoy, or expose the younger generation who missed the original, in order to drum up DVD/Digital sales of the original movie. With Disney+ on the horizon these films will supposedly be available on that platform as well. So they want to create as much demand as possible. While they have done this already, I’d like to see them remake some classic live action Disney films like “The Apple Dumpling Gang.”
  23. I just saw Disney’s Aladdin remake, and was pleasantly surprised! The dancing, costumes, and sets are really amazing. The computer animated Raja and Abu were excellent. The new original song for Jasmine to sing, called “Speechless” fit in well with the returning songs. It’s by far one of the best Disney remakes I’ve seen so far.
