Did Burke and his buddies have theme park experience prior to gaining his executive roles? I'm pretty sure he's a businessman too. Wrong, only "VIP Parking". Not being mean, but you should read his entire proposal. A lot of people seemed to blast him without reading exactly what he said. First off their passes are dirt cheap. $50-100 for a season pass is cheaper than a week or two of daycare service, which is why the parks have such a reputation of being a childcare company. By raising prices these sort of "babysitees" will be fewer and farther between and while that may hurt attendance, it will still have positive effects as well. If the parks can clean up their images, families will be more inclined to make multiple visits in a season. More families = a lot more money. Bringing people into a park isn't that hard... bringing them back is key. Getting back to the 'dirt cheap' aspect, I think that Paramount and Cedar Fair parks do ok with season pass prices close to $100, why not Six Flags?

Favourate Flat ride
ParkTrips replied to coasterboi's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Lusse Auto Skooters. Greatest ride. Ever. Better than 95% of coasters. You have to experience them to believe it. Flyers, Top Scans and Enteprises are fun too... but nothing beats riding a set of Lusse's with your girlfriend and killing each other over and over. - Joe, who thinks its not a successful ride on Lusse Skooters unless it draws blood -
C'mon Elissa, you know you wanted to spend a lot of time on the Vekoma double corkscrew Well, either that or you guys were thrown out of the park for jumping out of GeForce and walking up the lift... I don't remember

Comprehensive Coaster Credit Conversation
ParkTrips replied to Shockwave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree. But, as hard as this may be to believe, less than 2% of the coasters I have been on are Vekoma SLCs and Boomerangs... usually I skip them anyway so it wouldn't affect my count too much. doesn't mean I won't pimp the UK for every credit it's got. I mean, I don't want to just watch Elissa whore on kiddie rides, I wanna play! Speaking of, I love this picture: -

Then what the hell were you asking? Kip - Duane makes a distinction between hydraulic accelerators and the wheel-driven launch for Galazy Express 999 -

First off, I think he was referring to the rollbck brakes which I'm pretty sure are controlled hydraulically. And yes, Speed Monster is a hydraulically launched coaster. All of the 'accelerators' are (which is what it is tagged as, correct?) -
Roller Coaster Stuff
ParkTrips replied to TwistedTrack's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Shut up! At least I didn't pay $200 for a piece of a parachute from the Great Gasp! I can only imagine how much this will take at the auction next April... I wouldn't be suprised if it tops 500. Silly ACErs. -

Roller Coaster Stuff

Why just limit your stuff to coasters when you can get a kickass Lusse plate! - Joe, who has a borderline-unhealthy love of Lusse's -
"Tools On The Loose 2005" Coaster DVD!
ParkTrips replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
LMAO! I got my share of coaster porn today. Things I noticed: - Giggity - MA rating - The actual DVD case was acting Jewish on me and wasn't closing correctly Probably the usps - using up the 37 cent stamps -Joe "thanks for sending me your package" -
um, no s*** but thesre are record profits as opposed to putting away money for future investments and responses to market trends.

In short: Source: Fox News Ok... just to start off, I am about as hardcore of a right-wing person as it gets. Supply side economics? Love it. Ronald Reagan? My hero. But, to me, five companies averaging $5 billion (for effect, that's $5,000,000,000 each) within the span of three months while Americans were pinched at the pump. $55.5 million in profits a day. Lifes turned upside down in the bayou. Yet, these guys felt that $3 a gallon was as cheap as they could make it. This gets a big 'ol WTF from me and a big 'ol FU () goes out to all these execs getting filthy rich off of a hurricane... -- end rant -- - Joe, don't even get me started on how the government is going to pay for Katrina

I thought the park sucked ass, but... Its sad to see millions of people now without a park. Sure, they can go to Japan or Quebec or Oklahoma, but most won't. Fortunately, I have a feeling Houston won't remain park-less for long, so that's not too big of a deal for me. I am more or less pissed that Six Flags would close the park, and the circumstances that they cited as just cause to close the park. To me, the business side of it is where I get frustrated more than anything.

Taking things on rides
ParkTrips replied to calcajun's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
No, it doesn't. There are too many dumbasses in this world, we need to stop allowing them to survive and then mate with other dumbasses. Let Darwinian theories play out the natural way.. Just some examples in my recent trips: Cedar Point - dropped like $15 into lockers last year Universal - stricter than ever, at least they are usually free for x minutes Busch Tampa and Williamsburg - Anal on some rides, hell, they even stopped the train on Apollo's while I was iding because someone had a camera Dorney - actually forced to take everything we had on Laser Knoebels - rules? SFOG - bad early in the year, eased up on the rules once it got busy ... overall I'd say things are getting more strict with the sue first ask questions later and hope for a settlement type of society we have :? -
