OK - someone needs to learn about the business world. if CF buys SFMM, this will generate more money for CF because now they have wiped out their biggest coaster competitor, and that is one less competitor out there. MORE MONEY MEANS NOTHING IF IT IS NOT REVENUE. REVENUE - OPERATING COSTS = PROFIT wow!! this really surprises me. i can see why sfgadv would lead in attendance, but im not so sure how sfgam brings in the most money. my only guess could be that they are both within driving distance of a large metropolitan area, but SFMM is within a large metroplitan area too SFGAM SELLS THEIR SEASON PASSES AT A HIGHER PRICES GENERATING HIGHER PROFIT. EVEN IS SFMM ATTENDANCE IS HIGHER, REPEAT SEASON PASS VISITORS DO NOT BRING IN AS MUCH INCREMENTAL BUSINESS AS FAMILIES VISITING ONLY A COUPLE OF TIMES besides he probably wont sell SFMM just because of the history, movies made here, first park to have a looping coaster, first park in america to have a coaster that goes over 100 mph. IN THE WORLD OF BUSINESS THIS MEANS NOTHING. IF PROFITS CAN BE MADE BY SELLING THE LAND TO A DEVELOPER AND THAT PROFIT IS MULTIPLE TIMES HIGHER THAN THE ANNUAL PROFIT OF AN AMUSEMENT PARK IT MAKES SENSE FOR MANAGEMENT TO CONSIDER SELLING.

The Official "TPR 2006 UK Tour" Thread!
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cameron - there were plenty of pinball machines at Liseberg, Casey took some pictures for you Regarding Norway - the spitting did stand out, unfortunately it is a bad habit of mine also. The other odd thing about Norway was the number of kids/teenagers disregarding the garbage pails. People were blantantly dropping their drink bottles and cups over the fences, Although the park staff was constantly trying to clean up after these offenders. -

After returning from this trip, I have no idea how Robb and Elissa had time to put together and post any PTRs. You can't understand how much work they were putting in (and behind the work their hearts and souls were fully into this trip) to make it a perfect vacation for 53 others. Many days we were not getting to the hotel until very late and there was literally no time to sleep yet R&E still sorted through all their photos to be able to post PTRs when internet access was available. Even when the trip is now officially over they are scouting out parks for future TPR trips. -

Derek - I saw you also at Holiwood Nights also but instead of screaming like a schoolgirl and treating you like a movie story I respected your privacy. Instead I just turned to another TPRer and said "Boy, he looks bigger on the website" -

That Whip really does rock. I was also there on Monday (from 12-1). The ride op on the Tilt-a-Whirl was kind enough to tell me that Car 5 had no brakes and to get in that car for a crazier ride. -
I didn't have the stopwatch running but 10-20 minutes was my average wait for a single rider. I think the hot weather beat a lot of people down. It was extremely humid and many people were very worn down by the middle of ERT on Saturday night. There seemed to be just as many people milling about or watching. FYI - there were practical walk-on rides during the walk-back tour with all geeks on the tour

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll be at HW for both days/nights and following up at Beech Bend on Sunday with a stop at Camden Park on the drive back to New York. Sorry I don't have any TPR gear to wear, but that's OK since I won't have a camera either -

What coaster looks best at night?
larrygator replied to kennywood!007's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This might sound real corny but has anyone ever seen the Galaxi at Riverview Park in The Dells at night. I know it is corny but I really like the cheesy lights on it at night. -
I usually plan trip over Memorial Day, Independence Day and Labor Day long weekends and the parks are generally less crowded than a typical summer weekend and the Mondays are always slower.
-
Knoebels is better on a weekday since POP wristbands are not sold on summer weekends. On Saturdays and Sundays you have to pay for each ride. Last time I went to PKD I just bought an e-ticket online for convenience. I didn't want to have to rely on a soda can or fast food restaurant that might not have an existing offer at the time or restrictions that I was not aware of. Sometimes that Coke cans say 1/2 off, but it is only 1/2 off on weekends. I don't think Busch Gardens does discount coupons, I usually save a couple of bucks buying my ticket through AAA.

I only rode these in 2005 and will attest that they blow in their current state.
