No matter what anyone says don't get too excited about anything matching the unrestrained airtime of your hometown Coaster. -

That was always my go to seat on Magnum and I dealt with the charlie horses. Skyrush is a different level of pressure on the thighs. But so worth it. -
Parks that Don't Get Crowded

Waterville USA is not a really park in the context of the original post, it is a roller coaster attached to a water park -
Dolphin Days is a new show so it is extremely unlikely that anyone can tell if they prefer it to Blue Horizons. I don't know your guests, nor do I know more about Dolphins Days than has been released by SeaWorld. You have to decide if your guests prefers a more entertainment driven show (Blue Horizons) or the new show that is more edu-tainment (Dolphin Days). Dolphins Days announcement

Woodstock Gliders are certainly worth multiply rides, at least for me every time I visit the park. When I visit I'll probably make the Breakdance a priority since it is one of my favorite old school flats. -

It appears that Sydney's Luna Park will be getting a $20MM upgrade (probably over a few years) that will include 6 new rides. At this time only one family ride has been announced. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/business/luna-park-is-set-to-get-a-20m-facelift-which-includes-six-new-rides-and-refreshed-food-offering/news-story/eab069440697719f9d5526be9529e7d4 Luna Park set for a $20m facelift, which includes, six new rides and refreshed food offering EXCLUSIVE, Edward Boyd, The Daily Telegraph March 6, 2017 8:00am DAREDEVILS can expect more state-of-the-art thrills at Luna Park with $20 million to be pumped into improvements in the next four years. The multimillion-dollar changes will see six new hi-tech rides make their home in Sydney alongside updated favourites such as Coney Island, The Rotor, The Ferris Wheel and The Wild Mouse rollercoaster. Coney Island will slowly be replaced with more modern attractions as Luna Park owner Brookfield Multiplex splashes the cash. “The experience needs to be refreshed, we have approximately one million visitations per year,” Luna Park chief executive Peter Hearne said. Children’s rides north of Coney Island will be replaced during the upgrade. The first of six new rides to be built will be the Flying Carousel, which will form the centrepiece of a “family zone” designed to appeal to people with small children. Mr Hearne was tight-lipped on what the new rides will offer, but said they will be designed for thrill seekers and will use virtual reality and other technologies.

This is how I think it works for Cedar Fair parks. Decisions are not made solely by the parks, but the parks have input. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The problem I see in some of these "expert" opinions. (The $ I am using a purely speculative) Saving the cost of Mystic Timbers and building a bigger coaster next year. In a typical year Kings Island needs to spend $1MM-$3MM for a big flat and every 3rd or 4th year they seem to get additional funds for a bigger coaster. In the past few cycles, every 3rd or 4th year they had an incremental $10MM-$12MM (for Diamondback and Banshee) but CF is decreasing yearly CapEx spending, therefore they were given only an incremental $5MM (and the park went with Mystic Timbers.) So KI had $8MM to spend for 2017, if they buy any they is an assumption that they will get another $2M next year, and $2MM the following year, and $2M the next year and then $8 the next year, so it is going to be 4 more years with no new big rides, before they can build that $20MM coaster. I think would hurt sales from the locals. The second problem with this approach: that is not how business works. The parks get a budget to spend each year, if you don't spend your budget it is gone, you can't easily roll it into next year. And next year's budget is set based on the current year, so understanding your budget means you will get a smaller piece of the pie in the following year. It is never going to be a situation that Kings Island has too much of something, unless that something is the same as Cedar Point. Cedar Fair doesn't just want the Kings Island locals the buy KI Passes, they want to sell Platinum Passes, along the same lines they don't want the locals from Cincinnati to ignore Kings Island in favor of Cedar Point (or even Kentucky Kingdom). -
Ghost Town In The Sky Discussion Thread

http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/business/aroundregion/story/2017/feb/26/smoky-mtn-amusement-park-ghost-town-sky-sale/414460/ Ghost Town in the Sky is back on the market for $4.5MM, for 260 acres, including the 90 are park. However, I'm sure Alaska Presley would part with it for her break-even price of $2.5MM. -

Sick or injured passengers can only slow down operations. Sounds like a good move for Fuji-Q, in-line without their business philosophy. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If you want a more relaxed drive you can get on Route 301 about 2 miles from SFA and take that road south until is meets up with I-95 just north of KD. In ideal situations this route takes about 25 minutes longer and clear sailing on I95, but I95 is not always known for smooth sailing around Washington DC. Route 301 also provides opportunities to stop for crab cakes. -

^I think he reason for not flagging LaRonde has to do with the incremental costs to extend the Warner Brothers and DC Comics licensing agreement into Canada. However, it might be because of the land leasing agreement with the City of Montreal I believe Great Escape was branded Six Flags Great Escape the first year or two after being purchased but changed back as the the park is marketed as a thrill park.
