Valhalla at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
larrygator replied to niiicolaaah's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Good thread Nicole Great find Ted I got just as wet at Alton on the log flume as Valhalla but I sat in the back for Valhalla. I was smart enough to wear the Tevas for Valhalla but did throw out my oldest pair of sneakers in Sweden after the drenching at Tusenfryd. -
Proud to say I don't watch the show, but I'd be interested in knowing how they ended up in Liseberg. Was it the idea of one of the people on the show or the producer? How did they even know about Liseberg? I mean if you are not an enthusiast or not from Sweden what are the chances. Unlikely! I'm betting someone follows TPR.

Cedar Point 2007!!
larrygator replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Chaos is the worst run version not worth the ride "if" you have been on others. My car only flipped twice. I think every coaster is riding once (if you have he time) to know the experience and not rely on others. If you want a another can't miss ride, try Cedar Downs Racing Derby, one of only two left in the world that still race. -
Cedar Point 2007!!

I travel to CP in May every other year. Not 100% certain about online photos, but I know that TTD, MF and Magnum have them. What to expect: trouble with TTD, it doesn't run well in May when the weather is cold. What to go to first: If you get to the park at opening then MF and if you want the credit Mantis next (before the line builds), maybe Maverick but it is unpredictably how that line will be. Also if you stay at the park til close try to get on the MF line around 10 minutes before the park closes for a night ride with a shorter wait. If possible, avoid going on High School Physics Day (I don't know what day that will be, you might want to e-mail CP) it is crowded. If you are planning on a sit down meal, plan on eating during strange hours to avoid lines for food/seating. Famous Dave's BBQ in the Marina has very good BBQ for an amusement park. Lines: shouldn't be too crazy. The only lines over 35 minutes I have experienced in May are MF, (TTD if open), Raptor and Mantis. -
Parks that let you down!

disappoint: 1. to fail to fulfill the expectations or wishes of 2. to defeat the fulfillment of (hopes, plans, etc. Therefore, If I don't expect much from a park I'm not disappointed For me it was been: Canobie Lake - built up by locals to be the greatest little park, but far from it Lake Compunce - similar to Canobie Beech Bend - built up by TPR to be more better than I experienced Holiday World (on my first visit pre-Voyage/Gobbler Getaway) - Had heard for years that this was the best of the independent parks. However, as others have said, besides the coasters there aren't many flats to enjoy. -

I guess a 12 hour drive for a kiddie coaster isn't such a bad idea when one is used to such a crappy home park -
The Adventures of Yeti Ball in the UK!
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
next up R&E should adopt a stuffed ewe as a mascot since so many here act like mindless sheep following the adventures of stuffed furballs. Oh, BTW that was sarcasm, before I get flamed by those who don't understand my humor. Yeti Ball and Lou Yeti Ball - You The Man -

Real nice Jim, you rip on the kid's father and his favorite mouse in the same PTR. -
Some rental agreements do not allow you to take a car out of state without prior, I'm sure the same might be true for out of country.

S:UF are a good choice - although I'm sure I'll feel the same way when I get back to The Beast -

Poll: What do you base your ride rankings on?
larrygator replied to Olsor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Overall ride consistency from a variety of seats and throughout the day. An 11PM trip on Voyage in pitch blackness might be insane but it not the average ride one would experience. Boulder Dash runs notoriously weaker in the AM, although rides later in the day are excellent, so I tempered my ranking for Boulder Dash. I make very few exceptions and I rarely account for rumors of a ride getting rougher. The only exception i ever made was for The Beast, which I haven't ridden in years, but every ride i ever had on it was great. It used to be my #2 and I have let many coasters pass it in my rankings, however it could be in for a big drop when I get out to KI next year, just like I had to drop Ghostrider considerably this year. My #1 one is the coaster I would choose to ride if I had only one coaster I could ride ever again, #2 would be the coaster I would choose if #1 burnt down and so on through my list until I get to Psyclone. -
what coaster did you severely underestimate
larrygator replied to methos's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Those 2 wooden wild mice in the UK were crazier than they looked, and I had the same thoughts as Nicole about Phoneix, but I have to go with Silver Comet at MFI, because I really knew nothing about the coaster before riding it. -
^ skyscraper - the ride, not a building

Joe - you were included in the poll as a joke, since everyone knows you were busy filing and stapling papers at the time of conception and again Ryan is very popular with the pre-pube crowd.

Most unfortunate rock band break-up?
larrygator replied to BeemerBoy's topic in Random, Random, Random
Even though The Beatles were before my time, I have to chose them over The Clash - the only band that matters. The two most popular bands on my iPod -
I have to admit the addition of the turkey baster did throw off the odds. I voted for Barry only because I know those are the votes that make Elissa cringe the most. However, Melanie had a good point about the Balder hammer.
