TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Divv - that's an interesting idea. I'll suggest to Robb, maybe a picture of each park's entrance sign appears on the lead page for each park in the Park Index, in a future version. The Park Index is ever evolving! Of course, thanks for your hundreds of photo contributions also. -
TPR's Ever Evolving Park Index
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey everyone, it has been a while since I updated everyone on the Park Index. We now have almost 19,000 photos covering 6,000 coasters and rides, a huge increase from the 6,000 photos of over 1,500 coasters that were in the database a year ago. There have been over 3,100,000 visits to the Park Index, I hope everyone finds what they need. Continue to submit pictures of adult flat rides that are not already listed. Maybe I'll even get around to adding bumper cars, carousels, ferris wheels soon. (An inside joke for those who have submitted photos that have not been added to the database). Remember to submit photos in the proper size so that we can use them. Before your next visit to your home park, check out the Park Index first and take note of the adult rides that we are missing and take pictures. We are not looking to document every kiddie coaster out there, rcdb does a very good job in that area. However, at TPR we want to make sure you know everything there is to enjoy at the medium to large parks to make your trips even more fulfilling. thanks -
I've never driven more than 30 minutes out of the way for a kiddie coaster. I guess the worst thing was stopping at all the Jersey Shore parks on the way home from Morey Piers and than having to return to Keansburg 4 times to get their Wildcat credit. I did drive out of my way by a couple of hours on the way home from Dollywood on January 2nd in order to ride the Mountain Coaster at WISP. I love mountain coasters and riding them in freezing temperatures makes for a lot of fun. But I wouldn't call that detour whorish. Although Robb and Elissa will call me a whore for counting it as a credit.

But why would you even take the time to ask the question, if you are not going to be at the event? It comes across as either you are pointing out that Robb made a mistake (and you want to be the one to catch it) or it is a back-handed compliment. Neither one is good. If you were that interested, you would have clearly read that this is a pure bonus on top of the nighttime ERT. Enabling the TPR Group to be first in line on a ride before the park opens is just another way Robb and Elissa go above and beyond to provide incremental value for TPR members. Everyone needs to think before they just make posts. We've seen a lot of senseless questions on TPR lately.

^With the high price of property in New York (and taxes) a park in New York City would NOT be profitable in current times.

Dale Murphy certainly belongs in the HoF. Also, it never should have taken Jim Rice so long. However, the one that pisses me off most was before my time, Gil Hodges. If you look at his stats versus his peers, his leadership skills and his fielding there is no reason for his inclusion. -

I disagree about crowds on Sundays in August, it can get real busy. -
^Keep in mind that Robb and Elissa have no employees working for them, they process and send out all orders themselves. With that said, they only just returned from the Deep South and Texas Trips so a little patience may be necessary on your part.

Joe - Wait you're saying that Liz is complaining about coasters being rough and you aren't complaining? That must be a first. -

^People don't like Coaster just because it is an ACE Classic, they like it because it provides a kicka$$ ride. -

Thanks Bill, I figured I'd see this in the off season after my visit to the park next month. I'll upload these later tonight. -
Will you have access to a car or will you need to use public transportation? Unlike Europe, there are very few amusement park "close" to US cities. Six Flags Great Adventure and Playland (at Rye) are the two local parks that can be reached via Mass Transit. Both are 60-90 minutes away via Mass Transit. SFGAdv will only have weekend hours in Sept/Oct. Weekends in October are extremely crowded with Halloween events. Rye Playland operating hours. I don't know what rides operate at Rye Playland in October during their Halloween activities. You can get the the Cyclone at Coney Island by train but the larger amusement park Astroland is no longer there. Many of the rides currently near The Cyclone are temporary and may be removed by September.

Because we have real restaurants with great food! The pictures of Mike acting like an angry ride op are excellent. -

As there is nothing official, any speculation should be discussed in the following thread. Super Rumor Thread Once an official announcement regarding additions/changes to Holiday World is made it can be discussed in the Holiday World Discussion Thread. -

Nik Wallenda's Walk Across America For those interested, Nik Wallenda is in the middle of 10 city tour, covering all the Cedar Fair amusement parks. The above link will give the dates for the remaining parks if you wish to catch his act. -
Be prepared for slanted views from individuals who are overzealous in favoring one park over the other. Full day on Thursday at KD should be sufficient Friday and half day on Saturday at BGW should work. BGE tends to be the more corwded park. KD has no Fast Pass options BGE has Quick Queue (someone on TPR should be able to provide details)

You didn't miss much with the Rotor, it is horribly run. Actually you missed rug burns on your elbows from sliding down the walls. -

Actually the Flying Wallendas are known for NOT having safety back-up. Many in the family have perished in their endeavors. -
^^Yes, they do Jeff. I thought it had been closed, but it was still operating.
