  1. ^Do you think Robb really wants/needs to be corrected about that? or Do you think Robb will be ticked off that someone is pointing out a minor inaccuracy after he stays up all hours of the night to provide TPR members content as quickly as possible?
  2. I decided to go to the Pacific Northwest at this time as Canada's largest fair (The Pacific Northwest Exposition) would be at Playland simultaneously. The PNE doubles the number of attractions, brings in fair entertainment and also dozens of food stands. Before I post the ride photos from Playland and PNE I want to show you the food options and my dilemma. I took $20 Canadian out of the ATM, but now I had to decide what to eat. My apologies for blurry photos. I'm still getting used to the camera and the aroma from all the food stalls was making me dizzy. I didn't even post all the food options! Feel free to make guesses as to how I spent the $20. Did I survive on $20 or did I need to get more money? Sushi More Pizza More BBQ Curry in a Hurry "REAL" Ice Cream, not the fake stuff. Scones More Italian Beer and Wine Garden More BBQ Chinese Pierogies Indian or BBQ Salmon Pizza and Poutine Vietnamese Around the world: Mexican, German Sausage and Greek EXTREME Canadian Kettle Corn Funnel Cakes and Lemonade Hot Dogs, which coincidentally were being served right outside of the live Superdog show. More BBQ Orange Julius and Donuts BBQ Chips/Fries and Ice Cream Corn, Garlic Shrimp on the Barbie, Pub Grub Japanese Burgers
  3. Dan - You're Just a Gigolo. Keep you Fun Bucks and spend it on your Gigoloness.
  4. I think you need to add DJ Lance from YoGabbaGabba to the list.
  5. ^^I just don't see it as being scripted by MTV. I can't see the upside for MTV to disrespect Taylor Swift and potentially alienate country music fans and middle america
  6. Kanye West hates white people! Seriously, it's one thing to speak your mind. It's quite another to steal someone else's moment for your own agenda.
  7. After leaving Remlinger's Farm I headed to Fun Forest which is a small park at the base of the Space Needle. If you haven't been there yet, don't rush. The major rides side of amusement park has closed. Overall the rides were in better shape than I expected and there were visitors present. I expected a ghost town. Windstorms are fun little coasters, so hopefully this one ends up relocated somewhere. I didn't take too many pictures because there wasn't much to the place. Fun Forest was completed in about an hour so I did go back to Wild Waves afterwards to kill the last few hours of the day. The piece de resistance: Windstorm After a 50 cent game of Skee Ball, I win a little stuffed animal. I rule the roost at Seattle Center! The Big Ol' Ferris Wheel has nothing on this next guy. Ka Ching Unless you decide to spin this one like a mad man. Their most intense flat ride The treacherous Wild River The Top Spin which wasn't operating Ah there's the Space Needle. I got to keep on, keep on, keep on moving because it's a sunshine day.
  8. They will be different. Different layouts, different manufacturers. Specific information on each coaster can be found in the Kings Dominion thread and the Carowinds thread. Thread locked! Carowinds thread - new coaster info on Page 99 Kings Dominion thread - new coaster info on page 188
  9. RED ALERT! RED ALERT! Larry has hijacked Scott's Sport's Thread. Actually, Scoot did give me permission. I'm not a huge tennis fan, but the US Open is a phenomenal event for any sports fan. I prefer going in the early rounds as you are free to roam from court to court (Except the main stadium matches) and watch whomever you wish. A couple of year's ago a co-worker sat through a Men's 35+ Doubles Match in the front row of an outer court so that he would have that same seat for the next match that featured Anna Kournikova. Anyway the two matches today were Rafael Nadal vs. Juan Martin Del Potro, followed by Roger Federer vs. Novak Djokivic with the winners to meet in the finals tomorrow. I didn't take a lot of pictures of the action since you could see that on TV if you want, my pictures will enligthen you about the whole event. For those keeping track, Parking is $18, Chicken Cheesesteak is $9, Milkshake is $7, $5.25 for Evian Water, $4.50 for Snapple Ice Tea. Like an amusement park, prices you should expect at an entertainment venue. After the matches are over the fans take over the outer courts for photo ops, like this kid climbing in the umpire's chair to be berated by his friend imitating McEnroe (or Serena). There is some serious form on this serve. My friend Audrey felt sorry for these guys. I told her not to feel sorry for them, just cheer them on. They are not here for your pity, they are here to compete. The guy in the foreground was actually the loser in the Singles Final. Let me just say these guys are athletes, you should see the way the move their chairs around the court. I would seriously break some fingers in the spokes trying to do what they do. Since there would be a lot of traffic I decided to head back to the outer court for Men's Wheelchair Doubles Finals. Here's the trophy that Roger Federer is trying to win for the 6th consecutive year. Get out of my &^$% stadium or I'll shove a ^$%& tennis ball down your ^&$% throat. Then he wins, they interview him and he tells everyone to leave the stadium so that people with Session 25 tickets could come in and watch the women play. Federer wins the first two sets, but it's close. This is Audrey. She volunteered to get two Snapple Ice Teas at a break in the action and returned with one lemonade. WTF? Back in the stadium, there are Federer and Djokivic warming up. And watched this guy, Shingo Kureida the #1 Men's wheelchair player, destroy his opponent 6-0 6-0 to win the championship. Stopped at the outer courts on the way back in. Then walked outside the grounds to the park that was the site of the 1964 World's Fair. After the match we got ice cream. Yummy! In order to still not show you any of the actual match here is the scoreboard with Del Potro up two sets. The stupid ticket was in my way the whole match. Hey move it, or I'll shove a &%@# tennis ball down your $%#^ throat. I was focusing on the wrong entrance when Nadal and Del Potro arrived. The Food Village is actually a Food Court, but Village is such a better name. Since we arrived early we stopped at the Food Village US Open > Disneyland Because my friend Audrey tried to enter last week with hair spray in an aerosol can along with a lighter. She was reprimanded and had them taken away. I point out the security signs And you have arrived. YAY! Walk over this bridge, which is not a boardwalk. Turn around and a sign points you in the right direction The US Tennis Center is right next to Citi Field, the NY Cripples new stadium. Due to all the rain on Friday and Saturday the start time kept changing. I arrived early to beat the traffic and ended up 90 minutes early, hence the empty parking lot.
  10. Dueling Balders? - I see dueling threads. I'm locking this thread. Please use this very similar thread. If you owned your own prak...
  11. Great Bear's support are unique because it was decided that for environmental reasons the supports could not be placed in the creek.
  12. Technically, a barrel roll is a 360 degree maneuver.
  13. Next stop after leaving Wild Waves was Remlinger Farms, It about a 40 minute drive northeast of Wild Waves. Since I enjoyed my visit to Schnepf Farms and their excellent kiddie coaster I decided to take a chance on this one. At Remlinger, besides the coaster there are a couple more rides for kids and everything is tightly packed together, not spaced out like at Schnepf. The coaster was not nearly as wild as the one at Schnepf but you never know until you try. There is lots of fresh produce on hand and country items at the main store. Alongside was a restaurant where the food (especially the homemade pies) looked very good. In the end I'm glad I stopped by to visit the place and support the local farmers in the region. One piece of bad news for the cookie and gravy boat contingent. The coaster has a posted weight limit. I want cookie! A nice selection of homemade cookies. I actually passed on the cookies and had two apples. Lastly a farm animal petting area. This guy said "Hi, Jow" Pony Rides for the kids And coming at you! Oh! Ah! Mine Express from the rear And now what you are all waiting to see. I must have looked official. The engineer asked me if I wanted to walk into the restricted area and take a picture head on. Train ride See, I told you! Antique Car Ride Please tell me you get it! Three kiddie rides. ah! ah! ah! Two One Hay Maze and Jump - where you hope the needle in the haystack doesn't find a sensitive part of your body. Triplet Raceway - where kids race these trikes around the track There have retired vehicles where kids can play. Better get the car moving, someone is bearing down on me.
  14. I only rode it a couple of times on the day TPR visited Oakwood in 2006. I was very dissappointed as I expected greatness, and got mediocrity. I did not ride it late in the day. However, if it does really have a Jekyll and Hyde personality change throughout the day I personally would not rate it solely on its' best ride. I have the same dilemma when I rank Boulder Dash. I've had some absolutely amazing rides late in the day. Early in the day, not so much excellence.
  15. Knowing how hot and humid it gets in Madrid, I'm sure the Yogi Splach Battle is popular in the summer months.
  16. Ah, a little patience will be necessary. My Playland comments and pictures will probably appear middle to late next week.
  17. On my ballot, these are the only ones I think I voted for the winner. Best Marine Life Park SeaWorld Orlando, Orlando, Fla. Best Seaside Park Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz, Calif. Best Halloween Event Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando, Orlando, Fla.. Best Landscaping Busch Gardens Williamsburg, Williamsburg, Va. Best Christmas Event Smoky Mountain Christmas at Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Best Food Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg, Pa. Best Dark Ride Amazing Adventures of Spiderman at Universal’s Islands of Adventure, Orlando, Fla. Best Carousel Grand Carousel at Knoebels Amusement Resort, Elysburg, Pa. This is a near thankless job for the organizers, as there needs to be a limited number of choices in each category to keep the ballot concise. I think in the past they have made an effort to include the top write-in choices in the following year's poll. In the end it is still a popularity contest, but nice to see a deserved new winner like Dollywood for shows. Come on! Beast the #7 woodie, not by a longshot in my book.
  18. ^I didn't find Timberhawk to be too rough. There were a couple of small spots of air but overall it pales in comparison to other woodies in the northwest: Coaster (Playland), Timber Terror and Tremors. They really do skimp in the park. In addition to the rides being down and things not getting fixed, Timberhawk doesn't even have a covering where they keep the second train, so the upholstery on the trains is all messed up. Also, they ran out of parks maps, oh the horror!
  19. ^Joe - I hope they can succeed, but I'll believe it when I see it also. For know I'm just bringing the news to the masses.
  20. Article from a New Orleans TV station To me, the most interesting aspect of this article is that Nickelodeon seems to be solidly on board with quotes from a Nickelodeon spokesman. I had not seen that in the press previously.
  21. I wholehearted agree with this statement. I usually enjoy my trips to Cedar Point, but not the best "park". Since tastes vary I won't dismiss anyone who says it is best for coasters. And for the record, I would never consider SFGAdv a great park with it's vanishing flat ride agenda. Although, I do go there and ride Nitro and El Toro for hours at a time, but that doesn't make it a great park. While CP has improved in the flats area with the fairly recent additions Skyhawk and Maxair, that is where the quality stops. The remainder of the flats are all run at mediocre cycles, except Cedar Downs. The fact of the matter is that the majority of people go to amusement parks for more than just coasters.
  22. ^No, but I'll bring my camera with me to SFGAdv this Sunday.
  23. Here are some more random photos from Wild Waves. OK, I've been a dozens of Octopus rides in my day, not sure why they require two to a car at WildWaves Timberaxe was also out of operation all day Here the view of the Klondike Gold Rusher from inside the station The green slide on the left is called the Python, not for the claustrophobic Wild Thing coming into the station I didn't take many pictures of the coasters, because frankly my camera isn't that good. Pirate ship was kind of lame, but there were boobies that I do not photograph. I do not ride these types of ferris wheels. Lumberjack Falls - this splash boat is the parks' only water ride. The powered kiddie coaster sat like this all day, never operating. Ring of Fire through the trees and from above. The park is also very hilly, not quite like Holiday World. The Falling Star (which not surprisingly requires two riders) was set in a well shaded area of the park facing the water park.
  24. and also longer than i thought! do you have more pictures of that dive coaster? i also really like that East Sheikra. These posts from Robb are just a quick recap of the time at the park and nearby activities. Others, including Robb, will surely post more photos in the future. Having been on a couple of trips with TPR I can tell you that Robb is very busy right now and probably can't handle individual request for more photos of specific rides. You will just have to be patient.
  25. ^^You broke two rules. If your comments were directed towards someone you know that is fine. However, you don't know the people you directed your obscenitites towards and they don't know you. One job of the moderators is to prevent trouble before it escalates and sometimes we err on the side of caution. 2. Have fun! That's the most important rule. Friendly debates are acceptable, but flame wars are NOT! Personal attacks will not be tolerated, will be deleted, and could lead to suspension or your Theme Park Review membership being banned. 3. Objectionable material will be deleted! This goes for any photos, files, posts, etc that include obscene gestures, offensive language, etc. Basically keep it clean, or, keep it "PG-13."
