  1. I don't think that thing ever opened.
  2. Gary - get me pictures from Oaks for the Park Index, I accidentally deleted half of those pictures before downloading them. Oh and the Ice Mountain Bobsled sign from Enchanted Forest.
  3. My German is sketchy, but does that page reference Fire, Water, Earth and Wind on the top of the Page?
  4. ^I would estimate that 80% of my rides on Raging Bull, Nitro and Apollo's Chariot were of the non-stapled variety. Like you said, you slouch a little you get some extra room. If you wear a jacket that starts out under the clamshell but ends up outside the clamshell, then you have a little more room. I'm not advocating that anyone do this but I have been on B&M hypers where I pulled the clamshell down an extra notch during the ride after my jacket/sweatshirt became free and I felt I had too much wiggle room.
  5. It would be great if that crane "accidentally" dropped a couple of those supports on top of Anaconda.
  6. Have you seen how some nut jobs refuse to give El Toro or Balder proper credit? Now we have the Hermaphroditic Giant. Some wood traditionalists are likely to bash it whether it is classified as Steel (which it clearly is) or Wood.
  7. I'm sorry, but there are ways for the rider to make the clamshells fit less snugly and eventually someone will be stupid and push the limits and fall out. It might not happen this year or next, but eventually. How do I know this? Because people are stupid.
  8. They help protect the park against litigation if an idiot tries to stand up while riding.
  9. ^Maybe Sayid will have learned some Korean in his world travels. I guess the Kwon sideways flash is next so we can find out how Jin got out of the airport.
  10. So true, the only reason this is even news is because Emperor Jobs commented on it.
  11. Are they going to electroplate the steel i-beam track with a wood finish? Please don't answer that!
  12. ^Yes, Apple did recently attempt to sue either Samsung (Instinct phone) or Palm (Pre) recently over the touch screen web interface
  13. You are confused and brain washed by Apple. Just because Apple created something that is super amazing that doesn't mean another company can't build upon it without stealing patents. Claims of patent stealing turn out to be false the majority of the time in business. Let "Apple have its iPhone glory" is just a foolish statement. Apple could carry less about glory, this is about money and they already had two years of glory. In technology you innovate, buy ideas, steal ideas or die. Steve Jobs knows this better than anyone (except maybe Bill Gates). If Apple pushes the issue too hard there will a backlash. ^Tyler - You are correct, Apple is terrified of Android.
  14. ^Based on next week's preview Ben is alive.
  15. So who is left on the island and not on Team Smokey? Jack Hurley Sun Lapides Ilana Richard Ben Rose and Bernard? Am I missing anyone? Depending on which Kwon is a candidate, Smokey either has 2 or 3 recruits that are candidates. I still say Widmore is going to return to save to the island.
  16. Cough! VALHALLA Cough! Alzheimer's kicking in again?
  17. ^Awesome pool
  18. I have no problem with the concept. The only options for wheelchair confined children who want to enjoy rides in the US are at the Disney parks. It's not like Morgan's Wonderland is taking away an opportunity for able bodied people and creating one just for the disbaled. Since the nature of the rides at this park will have to be gentle I don't this anyone not visiting the park will be missing out on anything. As someone whose best friend's daughter has Cerebral Palsy I hear what Elissa is saying, but I don't consider this a case of mainstreaming versus separation. My friend's bring their daughter to Six Flags on slow days to walk around, get her in a mainstream environment and people watch but she is physically unable to ride anything. Not that my friend's would ever end up in San Antonio, but this park would give their daughter an option to enjoy at least a few rides.
  19. I wish I had skipped it.
  20. Being that it was about 40 degrees last year during opening weekend, weather certainly played into the short lines.
  21. Will - Awesome photoshop job on the HRRR storage area sign.
  22. You will not be able to ride Little Laser at Dorney, only for kids. Lake Compounce sometimes lets adults ride the kiddie coaster solo, but generally you need a kid. In my opinion, the must rides (that are not spin and pukes) at Knoebels are: Bumper Cars Flyers (My brother in-law can't do spin and pukes, but loves the Flyers) Haunted Mansion 1001 Nachts (unless it is away on honeymoon) Grand Carousel Pioneer Train Antique Cars - if you fancy this type of ride, this one is long and provides great views of Phoenix.
  23. I was out of money at the time and was hoping someone would jump me so I could turn the tables and take their money. Seriously, being from New York I have no trouble walking anywhere in daytime, I've seen enough go down that I can spot and avoid trouble on the street and I still run pretty fast. I did take the bus for the rest of the trip out to Las Vegas Mini Gran Prix and back to the hotel. Elissa - the 8 cop cars were just the ones at the Stratosphere "helping" that guy out.
  24. The client's ordered many of the appetizers to share family style: Kobe Meatballs with fresh whipped Ricotta - excellent cheese, but like I said Kobe Beef is overrated to me. The meatball itself didn't taste any better than a good Italian meatball. Garlic Bread with Marinara sauce - it's garlic bread, not much to say Seafood Plateau Piccolo (Crab/Shrimp/Lobster Cocktail, Raw Oysters/Clams, Tuna Ceviche) - I loved the Tuna Spedini ala Romano - I usually really like Spedini but this was a little too salty Fried Polenta - I accidentally tried a bite thinking it was fried mozzarella, I'm not a big polenta fan so I can't give a fair assessment Shrimp Scampi entree - Nice big jumbo shrimp, very light on the bread crumbs, high on flavor Desserts - I know they would probably kill you Dave but we sampled a whole bunch: Seven Layer Chocolate Cake and Choclate Bread Pudding were my faves, but I'm a chocoholic.
  25. I just spent 47 hours in Vegas on a business trip and bring you the highlights that did not stay in Vegas. Pictures below will show: 1 - My room at the Venetian 2 - A trip to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway to experience pre-race NASCAR festivities 3 - A 4-mile walk from The Strip to Downtown Vegas/Old Vegas/Fremont Street FYI - Had dinner at Lavo @ Palozzo's. Completely awesome, although I still think Kobe Beef is overated. My room at the Venetian. Reverse angle For comfort they put a bed in every room. For entertainment they put a flat screen in every bathroom. For your sanity, unlike Chuck, I kept my pants on when taking a picture with a mirror in the background. Side Boob art on the wall A room with a view The next morning we loaded on to the short bus for the racetrack. Most of my time was spent at my client's set-up, "The Sprint Experience". They have an authentic race car that they fire up. Autograph session - this is Amanda Wright, she of one of three Sprint Brand Ambassadors that serve as Miss Sprint Cup. She was really pleasant, cool and easy on the eyes. There are also product demos and free swag for Sprint customers. And a 8-person racing simulator game. This picture made me think of Jon LoCoco. The midway outside the race track is like a traveling carnival with NASCAR vendors hawking merchandise and also giving away free swag. Extenze had the most risque slogans on their merchandise. Dodge had a huge display area including a roller coaster reference (sort of) Dodge also had a pit crew tire change challenge and trivia contests for prizes. The elusive 3rd most popular "strip" in Vegas is located right next to the LVMS. NHRA holds their drag races here. Hey Justin! Inside the Speedway, during qualifying. I just don't like this guy! The next afternoon after leaving my business meeting at the Wynn I saw this store inside the Wynn. Hey BeemerBoy! On my 4 mile walk to Fremont I saw 8 LVPD patrol cars, "helping" out this gentleman who appeared to have fallen down in front of Stratosphere Tower. One of Las Vegas' finer establishments. I turned to take a picture of the Startosphere Tower and caught some of Vegas' hard working single moms leaving work. This is Rick Harrison's Pawn Shop. He works here with his "Old Man" and his son, "Big Hoss". And this is the line to get in. They let a limited number of people into the shop at a time and it is not as impressive as it appears on TV. I finally made it to Fremont Street. Now, what to do? Play some SEXY Blackjack at the Gold Spike! Load up on some Beef Jerky. No f'n way, I just got out of the Hot Tub Time Machine and Foghat is playing to a crowd of 19 people. The ride don't get any slower than that, playing to a free crowd on Fremont Street. Hang it up boys! One thing I like is that The Neon Museum is preserving the history of Vegas signs and some old signs are now working at Fremont Street. For many years, the Young Electric Sign Company has saved and stored many old signs in their "boneyard." The signs were slowly being destroyed by exposure to the elements. The museum is slowly restoring the signs and placing them around the Fremont Street Experience. Guided tours of the boneyard can be arranged through the museum website for $15. The lamp that used to reside outside the old Aladdin casino. I end with a failed artsy shot from the spot where those nice policeman were trying to help a gentleman earlier in the day.
