Chuck's Shameless Nostalgia TR: TPR's 2006 UK Trip
larrygator replied to cfc's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Ah yes, here's the Walk of Shame photo. After the first person exited we still couldn't make it up the hill, so Paul got out next. I was next in line to exit the train if we had not made it. Again in the grand scheme of life it means nothing. But it was a hilarious experience. -

I think one train of TPRs sent before my train which ended up being Elissa, Robb, Ryan and myself. Didn't they decide to not allow adults right on the spot after the TPR incident. I don't remember if another ride dispatched before us. -

^Is this the most "whorish" t-shirt you have? How many FECs actually sell t-shirts? -

Wales, what an odd corner of the world. Other than The Alarm, not sure what the place is good for. I did enjoy Speed, Brer's Burrow and the Crystal Maze. But that's about it. Also, was one of the lightweights that got to ride that Go Gator, which means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of life. -
Most states aren't worth mentioning in my opinion, so if your state only has crappy coasters I'm not listing it. Alabama: Rampage (even not running it's the best thing in the state) Arkansas: X-Coaster California : Riddler's Revenge Carolinas: Afterburn Connecticut: Boulderdash Florida: Kumba Georgia: Dare Devil Dive Idaho: Timber Terror Illinois: Batman: The Ride Indiana: Cornball Express Kentucky: Kentucky Rumbler Maryland: S:ROS Massachusetts: Bizarro Michigan: Shivering Timbers Missouri: American Thunder, since I haven't ridden Outlaw Run New Jersey: El Toro New York: Silver Comet Ohio: Maverick Pennsylvania: Phoenix Tennessee: Thunderhead Texas: Iron Shark, since I haven't ridden the RMCs Virginia - I305 Wisconsin: Hellcat

Russia to build Vekoma GIB in Sochi
larrygator replied to Gutterflower's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yes, there were plenty of days where the temperature in Sochi was in the 50-60 degree range during the Olympics. Sochi was much warmer than the nearby mountains. -
I've moved this "activity" thread to the Random Forum, we don't need a thread like this in the Main Forum.

He and his wife used to own an island in the Caribbean and I think that is when they started donating money to charitable causes in Dominica. So years ago they were granted citizenship, even though they never lived there. Apparently the IOC goes to non established winter countries and encourages them to find athletes. High ranking government officials encouraged who knew the couple cross country skied, encouraged them to train in an effort to qualify. They spent two years and their own money to make it happen and I'll commend them for their effort. However, in school he was never content with his 98% average and many accused him of cheating in an effort to be at the top of our class, being #3 wasn't good enough for him. Then last week I read an article that said he stopped wrestling after being in a car accident during his senior year in high school. The article said he was in a coma for two days and in the hospital for two weeks. None of the classmates I spoke with remember this serious accident. That's a little sketchy if you ask me. However, I do not believe he paid anyone off to compete for an Olympic spot and he did legitimately qualify. It's not like the days of Eddie the Eagle anymore. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/07/sports/olympics/caribbean-newcomers-dip-their-toes-in-sochis-snow.html?_r=0 Here's an article about a lawsuit that arouse when he sold his private island for $28 million a few years ago. Apparently the buyer under reported the sale price. http://suntci.com/government-gets-million-from-emerald-cay-sale-p402-106.htm And ain't karma a bitch. The wife crashed into an unpadded wall during her practice run breaking her nose and had to reconstructive surgery and never got to race. The husband had a pipe break in his complex, took a shower with nasty brown water and developed a bacterial infection and had to drop out of the race after 300 meters. Yes, I'm laughing!

Hurricane Sandy vs. Roller Coasters
larrygator replied to UrbanLegend's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My question is be where would there put it. I usually don't say there is no space, but I don't think the complete pier was ever rebuilt. Correct me if I'm wrong. With that said where would an RMC coaster be built. Also, has any prep work been done? Where are the footers. Seems odd that the track would be delivered before prep work has started. The park has announced a Zamperla Air Race for 2014, so why wouldn't an RMC have been announced yet. It just doesn't make sense to me. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread

In reading the comments the only people complaining seem to be older/middle age or older women who don't ride anything else at the park. -

For those interested in the US, next week's episode of American Restoration will feature the work Rick Dale's team did on the restoration of the Pretzel cars from Keansburg's Spook House after Hurricane Sandy damage. This episode of American Restoration airs at 10:30PM EST on Tuesday, February 25th. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hear where you are coming from and respectfully disagree. Did the park change for the worse when they installed their first wood coaster in 1985? This was also their first grown-up coaster? -
Knoebels Discussion Thread
larrygator replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
All they did was put all the information in one place for clarity. You've seen the pictures, here's a little more info. The design incorporates approximately 1985 feet of track and an approximately 98 foot tall lift hill. 3 eight rider vehicles will achieve speeds of up to 56 mph. 90 degree free fall drop, cobra roll, loop, immelman, helix, airtime hills are all incorporated in the ride. Riders are seated in two rows of 4 facing forward with the back row seats elevated above the front row seats. Manufacturer Zierer. Bumper boats and boat tag will be removed to make space for the ride named Knoebels Impulse. No matter what a business does someone will complain. Also just noticed that Flying Turns will be included on the wristband coaster option this year. I expected they would add Black Diamond to the wristband and keep Flying Turns as pay per ride. -
