Ya I read that article this morning. What I really hate now is that the media is attacking (you could say) Valleyfair! after the incident on the Wild Thing. The article was supposed to be about the Xtreme Swing, but then they chatter about how unsafe rides are (they make it seem like forty six deaths on rides in seventeen years, is a lot. But then again, there have been some twenty three billion rides in the last seventeen years).

Steel Dragon 2000 is open!
Thrillrider15 replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This is good news to hear. But my question is, is why do they decide to open Steel Dragon 2000 again, right after a similar accident happened on The Wild Thing? I'm not sure about this, but maybe they had to collect more data from another incident, such as The Wild Thing incident. -
Which one of the two movie players do you think is better? Quicktime, or Windows Media Player? For me, I would have to say Quicktime (even though I don't use it as default), just because I find Windows Media Player tends to have some problems. Such as sometimes, it might slow down for a split second, then stream at normal pace, and keeps going continuously. And then it might skip about three seconds ahead. While Quicktime doesn't have those problems.

^ Thanks for the video. I was wondering what exactly went wrong, instead of a broad explanation. Plus that video from that cell phone makes the image in my head all different now. I guess it will be that The Wild Thing will be down for Memorial weekend (of course). I'm just hoping that it opens when we go on our last day of school (June 9th). But the trip is on the line of "it depends". So I guess we'll have to see what happens. -

^ Ya. I'm asking the same question here. My guess is that it is what hold up the block brakes (lol. I don't know. just a guess. ). Thanks PKIDelirium for the report. My question is what caused the bracket to fail (but the park has not released the info. on that yet). -

The second one you said. And might I add if I didn't before, that he will not reveal the story on what happened, until Valleyfair! announces it. -

I have another friend I talked to about this, he said he was there too (I'm left out ). Anyways, he says he knows what went wrong. I'm not sure if I can believe him or not, but he says he talked to some people working in high places at Valleyfair!, and told him. So he doesn't want to tell anybody else because he doesn't want to risk those people losing their jobs. And also, I did see the paper today, exactly what tsmcdon said. -

For those people that say that The Wild Thing is unsafe, and same with the park, don't even go there. The park has been in operation for 30 years, and this is the worst issue they've had (Valleyfair! has had a great record of safety), is this incident. It was just a rare occasion. Anyways, this whole thing was around the school today. Non stop talk about it. Lol. All the crap people make up. I heard one story in which somebody could have thrown a pop can on the track. Lol! -

No dude, it isn't. I just got off talking to one of my friends who went to Valleyfair! today, and he said what the news said. So no. I don't think the news is lying. I looked up to The Wild Thing.....from the ground. Only why were people running away? I would have videotaped the whole thing. I don't care, I'm going to ride The Wild Thing a million times after it opens again (I'm going to guess it'll be another couple of months before it opens again). I have just heard that yesterday, that they were having problems yesterday with The Wild Thing as well. The computerized safety sensors shut it down twice, but found no problems. They also checked the ride at 2:43 P.M., an hour and a half, before the ride crashed. -

OMFG!!!!!!!!! I just saw a preview of it on t.v., and ran here as quickly as possible! But no! Somebody beat me here! This is horrible! I guess The Wild Thing will be closed for quite awhile now. This just makes me cry. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
Thrillrider15 replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have no idea why, but launch coasters scare me a ton. No idea. Even though I've been on them a million times. -
^ Ya. I recorded it too. Haven't watched it twice yet though. Anyways, when the two men with a lot of hair (lol. The closest thing I can use to describe them), when they got on Dodonpa, they were so eager to blast off. And when they did, they all grabbed their restraints, and held on. I thought that was amusing.
