Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Kennyweird replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Yes, ZacSpin's do have the same lift system. You can clearly see duel lift chains in the picture. I don't think we need to worry about the chain lift on Fahrenheit, the chances of both chains failing is probably about the same as the anti-rollback dogs breaking on a standard lift. -

^^ I was at Water Country back in 2003, and I don't remember a bit of it either. However, I do remember seeing those peppermint twist slides and thinking, "Wow, those look scary! I'm never riding those." I do like the look of the new theming and slides, though. It should be popular with the kids. -
Hard Rock Park - Max RPM (backstage media tour)
Kennyweird replied to SeaWhippet's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
One of the rules of engineering is to not over complicate things; simpler is always better. Maximum RPM's ferris wheel lift is in serious violation of this rule. I can see this weird lift hill becoming a serious maintenance nightmare for HRP in the near future. -

Alaska..no amusement parks?
Kennyweird replied to cathyJ's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm not surprised by Alaska's lack of coasters. The Alaskan summer is very short, not nearly long enough for an amusement park to make an appreciable profit. -
Check this out. Apparently it's Bubba from B94, and he is "sneaking" into Kennywood so he can be the first one to ride Ghostwood Estate. Probably fake, but at least it shows a little more of Ghostwood Estate than the other videos. EDIT: Actually I did a little research and it seems that they really did break into Kennywood. Luckily for Bubba, Kennywood decided not to press charges. Despite breaking into the park, he wasn't the first to ride Ghostwood Estate.

It amazes me that some people will complain about the most asinine things, like screaming, just so they can get their name in the papers and garner attention for themselves. If you don't like that there is an amusement park next to you, THEN MOVE, otherwise just keep your mouth shut and deal with it. Personally, I find people who scream constantly throughout a ride kind of annoying, but this is taking it too far.

Looks great! I can't wait till I go to HP in early June. -
Shane's Amusement Attic
Kennyweird replied to montezooma's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very interesting, Shane. It's very weird to look back in time and see people going nuts over a simple vertical loop, but I guess in the future coaster enthusiasts will look back and think it's weird that we went nuts over a 120 mph launch. -

That Medieval Times attraction is very similar to Dixie's Stampede. It has the same seating arrangement, heck, even the same food! The only difference is that it's medieval themed. Nice TR, BTW. It's a shame Movieland Studios didn't have any real credits for you to ride (unless of course you're Jeff Johnson). -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Kennyweird replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree. Judging by the video, it should be fairly intense ride (at least towards the end). I didn't see anything too wrong with the pacing. Lets hope they can manage the train stacking issue better than Cedar Point can manage Maverick's. -
Not So Hidden Mickeys
Kennyweird replied to Moose's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually it says on their website that a little wind is good because it spreads them out over a larger distance (and therefore a larger market). -

Orange, fluorescent yellow, and grayish tan. See? I was right. What is love? -
Silverwood opening day PTR!

I'll bet you Silverwood's maintenance department is just going to *LOVE* Aftershock. Nice TR, Silverwood looks like a fun little park. -
Hersheypark Announces Fahrenheit!
Kennyweird replied to Meteornotes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yup, that's the straight section where the chain engages the train. I'm guessing that because the chain's in the way they had to put the drive tires somewhere else. However, with the exception of the bottom of the lift hill, the rest of the ride apparently uses the normal drive tire configuration. -

Very, very impressive. Kennywood has really outdone themselves this time. Hopefully this ride will make Garfield's Nightmare look abysmal enough to prompt Kennywood to re-theme it again. This is probably going to be the best interactive dark ride in Pennsylvania (or the multi-state area for that matter), definitely better than its competition from KD's Scooby Doo or Hersheypark's Reese's Cup Challenge. It also gives Kennywood something all-the-rage that Cedar Point doesn't have. Only a couple more weeks till my school's Kennywood picnic, then I can try it out for myself!

Kennywood 2008 Construction

^ That's just too cool. Although I'll miss the Goldrusher, Ghostwood Estate should more than make up for its removal. I wish I could go on Saturday, but I have to help my grandparents move.
