Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
pianojohn replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My thinking is that every park in the world for the most part has a standard flume ride. Cedar Point HAD two: The Mill Race and White Water Landing, but both were removed to make way for Raptor and Maverick. So if you wanted to ride a water ride, your choices were Thunder Canyon (and get soaked) or Snake River Falls (also get soaked). I am really glad CP decided to buck the trend and just build a good old fashioned flume ride. Can't wait to ride it! -

pianojohn replied to montezooma's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Thunder Canyon when working at the Point back in the 80's, and Bluto's Bilge Rafts but only if I dressed for it. It seems today I avoid these soaking rides since I usually carry a camera, iPhone, etc, and can't afford to walk around soaked all day. Anyone else feel this way? But thanks for the pics! I still have all my old Amusement Journal magazines as well! -

TPR Members Working At Parks
pianojohn replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
2010 will be my 24th year working in parks! ( more or less) This will be my 11th year at Disney playing piano at the Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Ft. Wilderness and Princess Tea Party at the Grand Floridian. Still subbing out at Rising Star at Universal Studios CityWalk as well. -
I worked Journey to Imagination in 1989 and therefore saw Captain EO probably a hundred times. Sure it's not nearly as cool as some of the 3D films today, but the kitsch factor is high and we ALWAYS had a crowd for it. Of course, this was 21 years ago, but I think it would still do well to return to Epcot. And while they're at it, they coud re-open the Image Works upstairs (if there's anything left!)

Just the two Cedar Point ones and the KI one. I also have a bunch of Disney ones including the Epcot preview book which just has drawings of all the pavillions. I think it has already been posted here. -
Check it out! Also found one from 1978 and a King's Island one from 1979. Check out all the defunct attractions! EDIT Here are the few different ones from the 1978 brochure with Gemini on the cover. Gemini 1978. Notice no Magnum, Raptor, MF, TTD The cover for the 1978 version. Check out that line for Gemini!!
