Bill's Souvenirs Shack
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Looking forward to seeing those pins! I didn't get to really check out the pin selection when I was at TDR. I only got a pin that was for Disney Sea's 6th Anny; and a few of the Halloween and HM/NBC pins that were available at TDL, starting that week. But - I found this great candy dish being sold at one of the shops in the small "Cape Cod" part of the park. Which I found strange, since I expected this kind of thing to be sold at a shop in Port Discovery! Oh well, I saw it, loved it as just a reasonably-priced tabletop thing (it rolls too), THEN found out there was CANDY inside of it (cool) and immediately wanted it, LOL! And so I got it and it packed up nicely for the return trip home. And I have almost finished the individually-wrapped apple candies inside of it, LOL! Here's the candy dish, with Disney's Favorite Mouse in the (sort of) driver's seat, LOL! -
Coolest Ride Vehicles
Nrthwnd replied to Cerberus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Now that I have been to Tokyo Disney Resort, I must say that the really coolest and technically interesting ride vehicles have to be (IMhO) the two trackless rides there... One in Tokyo Disney Sea, the other in Tokyo Disneyland Aquatopia and Pooh's Hunny Hunt. The trackless vehicles are really something to watch, especially in Aquatopia at TDS because you can see all of them out there, whirling and running in several directions (so you think, but actually two programs laid out for each side of cars) in the shallow water. Especially fun at night with great night lighting everywhere, including on and under the "cars". With Hunny Hunt, you get three "hunny pots" all taking off at once, and immediately going through several configurations, travel patterns (backwards, too!) and sometimes "parking" together for a particular show scene. The Dream Room is especially fun and nutsy, going round and round and round. And then there's the time when Tigger shows up and... well I won't tell all. But you can guess what happens with him and us, lol. Great fun with both of them - and really amazing technology used on each in it's own unique way. (photos are from the Tokyo Disney Resort website) Hunny Hunt's "pots" all gathering for a blustery day with Winnie and friends. Great fun! Aquatopia at TDS. This was the first of the two rides to use trackless vehicles. And it's fun, too! And I rode it every chance I got. Easy walk-on too. -

Ah, Hamanako Pal Pal. Too bad their Haunted walk-through was "closed for the season." If it was anything like their dark ride was (WTF) it would have been something, lol. But, and I really have to repeat it again, having said it in my own trip report... V V V V V The Best - Togo - Flat Ride - Of Death - EVER. V V V V V I so want one of these at my own crappy little home park. Plplplplplplease Playland??? Sigh. Rode this wonderful thing four times, I think. But I got no over-and-over 360's. Like Au$$ie Rich did, without (or with) a riding partner! -

...Still at Tokyo Disney Sea here... Set I - A Bit of "The Legend of ...... These small set of photos is mainly of the daytime water spectacular called The Legend of MythicA, which happened every afternoon, in the main waters of Mediterranean Harbor. The first photo, however, shows how "into" everything I was getting, heh heh. Got and wore the TDS 6th Anny t-shirt; borrowed a towel from our great hotel and became... "Samurai Bill", lol; a fan, always needed a fan there with the heat/humidity and all; and last but not least The Stickers... Every snack cart in TDS apparently had a particular sticker to hand out, and when I started being give one here and there... Well, let's just say, two of them fell off me at this point in the day, and I stored the other several stickers away safely, lol. But it was great to have them just handed to me by smiling cast members, with my frozen treat or popcorn, LOL. And when I put the EARS on top tof the towel - instant photo op, LOL! Or so I became to several Japanese tourists, heh heh. Which was great. They loved it, I was humbled to be included in their vacation trip pix, etc. Great day there it was there at TDS. Now - on to Mythica! (To be continued...) Each float also has drummers & dancers who perform in spots like mine. And eventually - those eggs open and ...! Water is flying everywhere in this show! It's like the old Dancing Waters, only on STEROIDS, lol! Each float is a mythical creature of legend. With an "egg" in back of it. The show's started. Water starts to spout and spray everywhere! The "Floatilla of Floats", now enter. This is all to a grand and awesome score created for MythicA. I bought the CD of course! Grin. The center float is positioned, ready for the show to begin. I always had to look over and see Mt.Prometheus there. And the fortress in front. Great themeing here! I love it. Here I am, set up in my spot to watch Mythica. Everything on me, described "above" lol. This is my fave creature - the awesome PEGASUS. Darned light pole was in the way. But it was great with the wings flying. GRIN. -

Great original TR, Ted! The black/white of it all gives it all a sort-of "vintage look", heh heh. Even those old standbys that are constantly "out of focus" LOL! Great TR. Thanks for sharing it with us. -

Final Destination 3

^ Welcome to the world of "Continuity". Which, even without even seeing one frame of FD:3 I can assume had/has Continuity Problems? i.e. the OTSRs not being brought down - then being down when the train leaves the station? Also - trailers do not always have any scenes featured, that you will eventually see in a movie. An example escapes me for now. But I have been lured to see a film, by it's trailer, only to find out that the particular "scene" didn't end up in the actual film itself. I call that, False Advertising. But it's done fairly often. So what can you do, hmm? -

Here's my recent pic of the Corkscrew, infamously used in FD:3. Located in Playland, Vancouver Canada. One of four credits. Voila. The coaster in question. Last there in May. Busy times. Yawn. -

^ That's like one of The Main Reasons I want to go back to Japan, again and again? The lineups always, usually appeared to be WTF to most of us, at first. Me included, I must admit. But it all worked, everybody was usually pleasant around each other (even that *&%^$@# line at Fuji-Queue), and you actually got through some lineups way faster, than just piling towards whatever place and/or entrance that you yourself, were going to. Perfectly efficient. (Most times.) I love Japan! -
YES! (actually it's up there on the list - not the top, but... close.) And a good mustard on it too, lol. Do you own an automatic car?

^ The prices of a lot of stuff, including food, surprised a lot of us I think, when taking the (then) current exchange rate into consideration. I nearly fell on the floor when I checked my cc account back at the hotel's Yahoo Cafe (buy coffee for 500 Yen - get pc all the time ya want, lol) - and the things I charged at Universal were way WAY less than I thought they'd be. And I was checking, in Canadian dollars! Food was no different. For me IMhO. I had great meals at astonishingly reasonable prices, especially at the Disney Resort parks. But darnit, I missed that pumpkin pizza at Universal. Ah well, next time, hmmm? GRIN. -

And now - touring Disney on my own.... most of time, lol. Set H - Tokyo Disney is all about Shows and Souvenirs! The last day of my four-day pass, I decided to strike out on my own from the hotel, and do all the transit myself, and get there first to Tokyo Disneyland, do some fave attractions (HM, Pooh, Big Thunder) get some wanted souvenirs (the silhouette, mouse ears?), then "casually" head over to Tokyo Disney Sea. But by the time my silhouette was being done in the World Bazaar, I was more than ready to get over to TDS and continue touring. The guests with children and stollers, and children (and did I mention strollers?) was getting thicker and thicker. Couldn't find the ears either, which I later found out were there, darnit. But that's okay. Another visit, I'll get'em lol. But I had to get out and over to TDS... And by the time I was in the New York Deli, having a great foot-long sandwich (with a collectible tray/box - who knew?!!) before catching the AWESOME harbor-side spectacular, BraviSEAmo! I thought a sec, and realized I hadn't wanted to go back to TDL at - all, that day. TDS was great, my pace and style of park. And later I found that a lot of the others were feeling that way, too. Coming over to TDS from TDL was like having a Disney Oasis for (mostly) adults to enjoy. And - we did, heh heh! And the shows were all a Big Part of that day I spent there. Starting with the wonderful drum-beating floats a-plenty Legends of Mythica, the afternoon daytime spectacular harbor show; then Big Band Beat a great 30 min. Broadway-type show, with full live band, singers, dancers, the works! Awesome show; Mermaid Lagoon Theater housing the Cirque-like "Under The Sea" which was way great, but way too, too short (like under 20 min?) although I reasoned if this was mainly for kids then I guess it was a good timing for them; and finally the nighttime (once again) harbor spectacular BraviSEAmo! which begged the musical question - can fire and water get along? And they did - spectacularly! I loved it. Bought the CD! (and Mythica's soundtrack too, heh heh) I then skipped the fireworks, and did a lot of stuff a few more times (Aquatopia!), and still made it out the gate ahead of the closing time crowds! Here's some of this day, with more to follow on Friday... (To be continued.) Hmmm. This doesn't look like a great start to going solo today. Nothing like a half glass of ____ doubling as an ashtray, lol. Enclosed display on the Tokyo Disney Resort Monorail Line. It looked cool, just "all on display" there, lol. Oh yes oh YES! I can see a Castle, almost covering a Tower, almost a Mt. Prometheus, definitely a Space Mtn! Must be getting closer. This is briskly walking through Tokyo Station on the way to the right connecting train to... Sweet young woman doing my silhouette in TDL's World Bazaar - AND SHE KNEW all about TPR!!! Then I hightailed it to..... Did what I want, including a great lunch at Miguel's El Dorado Cantina (Lost River Delta), and peeps taking my pic KNEW about TPR!! And NO Collectible! (Quelle surprise.) Ah yes, here we are - back where I really want to be. TDS Mediterranean Harbor beckons... Grin. Best - Disney Boat Ride - Ever. And you can barely make out the 'ears" I finally settled for, heh heh. And a very nice strawberry Italian Ice - in Arabian Coast! Note the on-shirt stickers? Those, later on... Dive suits shot #3 - and my EXCLUSIVE TPR Shot! This was in a roped-off (and unused) queue area of 20K, I talked ride ops into opening and letting me shoot this display... Ka-ching! Dive suit shot #2 - This was on display in the waiting area, before your group entered the parlor. I liked it. And Hightower - on the left- still looks like a rich a$$ to me, LOL! Just one of the many representations of impending DISASTER, that Hightower collected - and is now displayed in ToT. It was great, the themeing everywhere. Me and Hightower Hotel in back. Oh - pardon... the Tower of T-t-Terror? GRIN. Going to redeem a FastPass... The entrance to Mermaid Lagoon, mid-afternoon. I like this shot, with the palm trees and all. -

^ I don't have work to do it, with, but I usually keep some of the recently-aquired souvenirs "around," so as to remind me of the good times, the fun times.... Currently, I have Scary Teddy-A-Mania happening around my pc desk, heh heh. Gotta love a little sidekick who chomps on light bulbs and cords, AND plays a mean harpsichord piano, too! (Haunted Mansion NBC overlay, lol) ^ The baseball sounds very different. Can you take and post a photo of it. I would love to see it, and how it looks. -

^ Yes, part of a two week exchange program, at that time. Unfortunately, I took (literally) a few hundred pix of the trip, including several at Fuji-Q back then, got back home, then "sat" on the films for several years. Don't know why, thinking back now. But taking into account the cost (for me, then) of developing and printing a probable count of 30+ film rolls... I think I just couldnt' afford it, at that time. I had bought a half-frame camera in Tokyo, so got twice the number of prints out of a usual roll? That, and the focus was severely hampered, needing better experience at doing it. So I know a good amount of the pix were un-focused, etc. So I held back on getting them printed... Later, I found them, but time (and basement crud and mildew) had damaged most, if not all of the films. I immediately got the films turned into negatives and now.... oops, can't find them, darnit. Same goes for a few park maps, including Fuji, I got and kept from the trip. But they're secluded in a basement trunk, I know. One of these days, I will find everything, put it all together and "show & tell all" TR, heh heh. Thanks for asking, and reminding me, LOL! -
