Gardaland vs Mirabilandia
Nrthwnd replied to cfar0028's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It may not be important that much, but... When TPR was there in 2010, I thought (and saw) that families with strollers and even riding scooters, managed to get around Mirabilandia much, much easier than Gardaland, which did have it's share of slight and sharp 'slopes' on it's (sometimes) narrow pathways. There was a lot of walking around at Mirabilandia, but it was mainly level, IMhO, and some good patches of greenery here and there. That may work into your plans, also. -
I love the idea of this coaster. It's using a new style of train/cars, an original layout with theming, and more than likely a few A/As here and there, lol. And I am SO hoping The Witch will make an appearance in there . And it's another Disney-designed mountain! Well, more like a hill, heh heh, but still....

This is the family suspended coaster we rode during the 2008 TPR Europe Tour... At Movie Park Germany - Atomic Flyer Also Vekoma? I don't know, myself. Great to ride, even without inversions. And the absence of shoulder restraints? Heaven! A great family coaster. Is it Vekoma too? (Sorry, I should look it up myself - but, what are TPR friends for, hmm? ) -
They should have never done the beach ball thing, in the first place. When I rode the original Flying Saucers back in 1963 (I was ten), there were no beach balls or balloon-type things at all, around us. And I keep remembering that tv special in 1965 on the 10th anny of DL, included ballooons and stuff falling all around the Flying Saucer riders. And yet, it had nothing to do with the regular running of the attraction! It was just good old "bumper cars" in a new style and physical way of doing it. Which was at that time, fun and very cool to do. These people who are riding them now, should be learning that. How to become Bumper Tiresss... (EDIT to add: I have not ridden this new attration, and have 'heard/read' that they are a lot more cumbersome to navigate and direct, etc. So... the beach balls thing would/could really make it all the worse for maneuvering these things, hmm? Noted.)

Photo TR: Silver Dollar City and Outlaw Run
Nrthwnd replied to Shavethewhales's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
What a great inside look at Outlaw! I just cannot fathom that twist inversion 'thing'! Can't wait to see test runs of it - and then everybody on it, of course, LOL! Thanks for sharing all your photos! Great TR. -
THIS one V V V This version of it, was on the 2007 TPR Japan Tour, and the ride op was insane! And I rode it four times in a row! And others, several more times! Wierd. We all loved it, and the cycle was perfect for really flipping those seats over and over and..... Yes for my back yard - any time, LOL! Called the Paratrooper - awesome ride, it was!

Toverland Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to turbolaaf's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Damn, I'm beginning to miss visiting this park, more and more and more and..... The whole new section layout looks great! And this all started with a "big box" building, huh? I Toverland ---> TROY! -
Of course! I totally forgot about this section's Meet & Greet area! Always took it for granted with whatever 'theme' it was currently in, with the rest of "Mickey's ____________ ". Artwork looks great. And interesting that Mickey is left out of this set-up. Easier for his strolling around, as Head RingMouse-ter, I bet.

Darn it's hot, today. And with added high humidity level... Yuk. Not used to this, and now we're getting it every summer, here.

We have been enjoying all the previous seasons of Eureka lately, and are finally catching up to the (then) current season. That said - does anybody know or remember what town is used to rep Eureka, itself? We know that the series was filmed mainly in BC (sorry, Calif.) and think that the town itself was one near Vancouver... Or....? Thanks is advance if anyone knows this.

^ I think it is fencing on either side of a walkway that leads up to what was then the Fantasyland Station for the DL train that circles the park? You can see the station in the upper right of the pic. It definitely resembles the "tents" that were/are depicted on my 1963 map of the park. -
New coaster for Sega Joypolis
Nrthwnd replied to Hhappy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Woo hoo! - and all those simulators and "environmental" (Evil Dolls!!!) attractions there, besides the new coaster. And the shopping mall. And Condom-Mania, too! -

Wow. What a wonderful "look back" at DL! I went for my first visit in 1963 as a ten-year old, so this is a great "retro memory trip" for myself. Thanks for sharing. And yes, they are pretty clear and easy to (still) look at, esp.from slides, which I believe was "the thing to take" at the time. Very nice! -
