So much rain these past days. Many floods, part of our main highway washed out....
...and Vancouver was basically "Cut off" from the rest of Canada, for transport on land.
And traveling of course. Very scary. Five people lost their lives over here. So far.
It's tough. And more high winds and showers for another several days...
<sighs> And so it goes. We're fine, still with power, and lots of room to go crazy in, lol.

Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, whatever they choose to build, a new or used one, I hope they can still put a coaster there at all. Financially-speaking. -
Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread

^ Actually ..... I am really hoping that it isn't a coaster, that can only hold/run one train. Like Wicked Twister, which I did get to ride with Bert in 2017. And other coasters like it. They are all great, these one train only coasters. I've ridden many and enjoyed most of them. But for Playland? I hope not. The two family coasters are one train only run. And Coaster usually, we hope, runs two trains during the PNE in August. But one train other times of the year. My 7 cents. -

^ Yikes! Nobody was hurt, right? Hope they can recover and rebuild, etc. -

^ Wow. I choked up a bit. 50 years??? Amazing commercial. Great find, Bert! p.s. And honestly, Santa is HOT!

My bar suggestion is ..... get up to the West Hollywood area. "Used to be" .... during my visits there, there were a lot of bars in just that area. All within walking, too. But - that was then. There may be a few bars in the Anaheim/Buena Park area too. Google it, and you'll find out. It's so f-ing easy to find bars and such places, nowadays. Compared to "my bar days back then". Rant over.

bert goes to Texas Theme Parks (mega thread)
Nrthwnd replied to bert425's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Great new set(s) of photos here, Bert. Looks like you had an awesome time, wherever you ended up, lol. "Spoiler 2: of course, I rode the Carousels at all 3 places" Carou-whore. In a really good way, of course. -

^ I keep thinking/hoping/dreaming, that they're going to install an El Loco coaster there where Corkscrew was. There isn't one in Canada, so Playland would be The First if they did build one. First One in Canada, that is. Like I said .... hoping. A lot. The original El Loco. And I am pretty sure it could/would fit the Corkscrew footprint, easily. -
Playland/PNE (Vancouver) Discussion Thread

Been gone, for over a couple of years, now. Last time I read here, someone pointed out it was for sale. Several pages back. They also used to have a fence banner around the space where Corkscrew was, sort of promising "something exciting in the future." But that's been taken away, now. With the Pandemic curbing how the park's to be run ... I hope they get through this, okay. And get back to getting us a Brand New Coaster, yes! This is what used to exist on the fence around Corkscrew. Then the coaster came down. c.2019 -
Been a while.... "between loaves" heh. But I finally pulled it together last weekend, to make one of my "Easy Bread Bake" recipes' Cinnamon Raisin Loaf. It actually turned out pretty good. And sweet to eat. Definitely worth making and baking again. Into it's second rise. Already it looks great, with the sugar and cinnamon mix all over it. 3 hours later... Done! A dark crust on it, but so chewy and sweet inside. And the baking brings out the RED of the Craisins, besides the purple of the raisins. Yum. See what I mean? I could definitely pick out the raisins from the Craisins. All good eating!

Random suggestion: If they, the PNE, (finally) get the right funds together, to actually install a new coaster where Corkscrew used to be... How about, no matter what kind of coaster it is .... call it ..... The Coast. That's it. Simple. But effective where it's located, with the background. If the framework is painted so the gp can actually "see through" it, to the North Shore, The name will work. -
Random thought: I find the idea of a "Smash Burger" intriguing. But still a wierd concept, all the same. Our local Safeway, is selling the burgers, as round burger balls, to eventually "Smash 'n Cook" I assume. Example of a Smash Burger. Uh huh.

Last Wednesday's Pizza Choice in my Faves List.... This pizza was the first one listed on their Olive Oil Based List (no tomato sauce on it). I definitely enjoyed it, but felt there was so many slivers of tomato on it... well, I still loved it enough to put it on this List. I figured out, I hadn't taken any photo of the side of the restaurant, so ...... here it is! (o: Closer shot. I surmised that the 4X thing... is about quality, perhaps? We will never know. Sent to the corner, as usual. Filetto. And I didn't like the next pizza there, as it tasted too much like some overpriced cheese pizza. Starting on it. and It was good. Remainder for David. As usual.

There's a 20 Year Reunion coming up, with the cast of the Harry Potter films, etc. To be broadcast on New Year's Day, 2022. With much of the entire cast, apparently. I never read the books, but we really enjoyed the film series, from the first to the last. That said, I wonder if Chris Columbus (Director of first one, I remember) taking it on himself, to suggest that he direct the original cast in a film version of the TONY winning Broadway play (now done in one night) "Harry Potter And The Cursed Child" ...... ? The timing is perfect, age-wise for all of them, lol. Would be cool, even for them, I'd suppose,. Reliving the parts as adults and parents..... for film. Here's hoping.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
Nrthwnd replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very cool to read about The Bounce. My only time riding one of those, was in 1962, at age 9! It was at the Seattle 1962 World's Fair, and the ride was located right beside a Calypso. It's neat to read about the ride having a longer life span, than expected. Good for Kennywood on that decision. There it is, between Calypso and the Go Kart track. -
More Broadway Musical Goodness! The cast of Mrs. Doubtfire did a number from their show during one of the morning tv shows. It's great that they're now NOT shying away from showing what their Mrs. Doubtfire is looking like, thanks to Rob McLure as the divine Mrs. D and a a pretty awesome cast. Here's the link to the performance clip..... https://www.broadway.com/buzz/201588/get-ready-poppets-watch-rob-mcclure-the-cast-of-mrs-doubtfire-perform/

This is insanely awesome! There's this company called the American Dance Machine, and what they do, is re-create classic musical theatre ensemble dance numbers ... like it's keeping for future generations of Broadway Dancers, etc. Very cool idea. Here's the link to the latest they've done.... https://www.broadway.com/buzz/201578/hooray-for-tommy-tune-american-dance-machine-takes-on-the-will-rogers-follies-with-original-stars/

Tobu Zoo - Regina being redone for 2023
Nrthwnd replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like Regina has become more .... dare I say .... curvy? Heh heh. Good for them to re-consider and re-start again with R. TPR 2011 Japan Tour. She was pretty rough on the body, but IMhO still a great layout and circuit. -
