  1. Might as well bump this up. So, any comments on today's Oscar nominations? Bit of a surprise was Frozen II left out of the Animated Features category. And after re-seeing Missing Link again the other night, I have to think it still could be The Winner, like it was at The Golden Globes. BUT - I think it will be brilliant if "someone" suggests that John Travolta again, intros the Nominated Song from FROZEN II ("Into The Unknown"). Sung by you-know-who..... Adele Dazeeml! Hoping for that. For-Those-Who-Don't-Remember (or Don't Care): Travolta mangled Menzel's name in 2014, when he intro-ed "Let It Go" from the first one, FROZEN. It did win the Oscar for the song. 2014. Where Idina Menzel was performing on Broadway.
  2. Two nights ago, we had a snowfall, and then it rained most of the stuff away.... Last night...we got dumped on. And it looks/feels like it's staying a wee bit longer. Down the block. From the front porch. Upper deck. Back yard.
  3. Ours are still up. But it's not much to deal with.
  4. Cool Yule - Bette Midler Yeah I know, pretty late for this one. But I wanted it and got it!
  5. ^ Welcome. Interesting though, that after yesterday, it SNOWED all f-ing night, last night! Not going to last, as it's already started raining from time to time this morning, so the stuff will most likely all be gone by tonight. That said, if I'd been able to, get back out to the park for some probable great snow photos. Ah well. Another time. And... I'll probably go back to the park around the end of March, beginning of April. A better time to actually see everybody there prepping, for opening in May. From a special 50th Anny postcard collection I have, of Coaster w/snow. (o; (2008)
  6. I decided to check out the park this afternoon. See if anything has changed, etc. Was very windy today, so the 'chill' in the air was a bit....uh....chillier. Whatever these are, heck of a bruise if one trips on one. Or hit it with their bike. Storing the face painting booths over by the flume ride. Of course! ...But not until May 02! Still standing. Hard to see through the mesh fence, but there aren't any trains in the station. )o: Might as well get a couple of Coaster shots, while I'm here. I like this one the best, of the two I took. Surprise! Still standing. And still screwing. PLEASE somebody BUY THIS! Where "the new part" of Playland will go, eventually. My New Coaster Wish: I think it's a perfect "footprint-fit" too, for the hoping-to-be-sold-SOON Corkscrew. Picture the view of our mountains, behind this! Playland would also have the honor of owning The Only One of these in all of Canada! At this time. ~ Fini.
  7. Wicked Twister Cedar Point (Sandusky, Ohio, United States) June 03, 2017.
  8. ^ I may do myself a "Jerry Herman Tribute Evening" in the house, playing his shows one after the other, heh. I must say, though, the one that really gets me every time is Mack & Mabel. I "nearly" caught the original show in NYC, back in my first Broadway visit, 1976. I know that the show never reached that year, having opened, and closed, the year before. But I still hoped at the time. And I still have the original cast cd of it, and the special early (late 1970's?) concert they did of it, in LP format! I forget who was in it, but I have it around here, somewhere. And...New News! The last recorded cast album of the 2018-19 Broadway Season is finally out on CD! Kiss Me, Kate! has been out in digital for a few months, but not till now has it been available in good old CD format! One copy is now on it's way to me, and then I'll finally complete that season of CDs ~ unless by some miracle, King Kong:The Musical happens. Now available, CD-ed!
  9. Happy National English Toffee Day! January is also... National Oatmeal Month National Hot Tea Month National Soup Month National Soup Swap Month (what the heck is soup swapping?) Bread Machine Baking Month National Wheat Bread Month
  10. Found a couple of recent photos, posted by @kerokero_2525...thank you! First, an overhead shot of the Resort. Second, a new pic of Beast's Castle in New Fantasyland, taken from a bit farther back, where you will head towards the attraction's show building.
  11. Ha! Every day of my current life. Reading this site makes me jealous of those who can visit different parks at this (or any) time of year, and within easy distance, too. And the Alvey Family. When was the last time you got sick on a ride?
  12. Queen Bee ~ Botton's Pleasure Beach, UK
  13. What restraints? The park re-opens on May 2nd. But I'm hoping to take at least a couple of trips out to the park, and circle it's easy perimeter, if I can see/photograph anything new there. Like new trains in the station, or the Corkscrew starting to be dismantled, or gone altogether. Or something totally NEW being built! That'd be a real nice unexpected surprise. Like the Sea-To-Sky Swinger was. And "if" they get new trains, I hope to gawds they keep the same lap bar, and same nice, comfy seating in the cars that they had in the current trains. What was left of the red train, was put in the middle of the purple train. This is what we saw on PLayland's Opening Day last year. Then they repainted over the red car, and I think it cursed the purple train = BC Day's 'event.' (o;
  14. ^ There's lots and lots of offensive contemporary pop culture songs I am offended by.... but this was Christmas time music. And specific songs. And remember it's a Random Rant. Wasn't asking for comments or even compliments, but thanks for the advice, nonetheless.
  15. Ah yes, I forgot about that little rule. Well, it's been 8+ years. I do tend to forget stuff here and there, now.
  16. ^ Great TR on your (of all weekends) Labor Day weekend visit to the PNE. Closing weekend. I was there for the Friday and the Monday of it, just to stroll around, drink beer, people watch, drink more beer. They had Happy Hour between 3 and 5 pm every day there, so it was nice to have that. Well, you knew about Coaster and the one-train thing. They used to ALWAYS run two trains, of three, during the PNE. But on the first Monday of August (our stat BC Day) the purple train stopped dead on the curved track, above the station and before the straight-a-way. Only took the ride ops less than an hour to evac everybody from it, down the lift hill. And Coaster was down for nearly two weeks. They then re-opened with just the yellow train running. For the rest of the season, and the PNE. But prior to this happening, they had (sniff) gotten rid of the red train, since they "never used all three trains".....ever. They even put one red seat in the middle of the purple train. Then this 'event' happened, they had to figure out what was wrong with the purple train, and that left only one train, the yellow one, for the entire season, including the PNE. So honestly, they're telling people "not allowed to run multiple trains" was kind of a little white lie, since they only had one train to run, lol! I guess it's a better shorter excuse, than the real reason(s). Glad you could make it to The Fair and the rides, if only at a really REALLY busy time. Getting the RapidPass for the big attractions is good advise, especially if one is only going to get there for one day's visit during The Fair. P.S. As for AtmosFEAR's cycle time...yes it was a shorter cycle. When it first opened in 2011, it was a much longer time at the top, before descending. I'm not too great on heights, but I enjoyed the thrill and speed of it, way up there. When I rode it this past season, I was shocked how short a time we were at the top. Maybe somebody got too freeked out, and complained. Who knows the reason? Still a thrill when they run it, and it's a bit windy!
  17. But I did come back and join you, right? Your group left for the rest of the night. If they'd hit the hotel in the afternoon, like I did at Breakers for a couple of hours' rest, they could have easily come back and re-join you guys for the rest of the day! I realize it was only an hour+ left in the park for you. Still. Mid-day rests, if the hotel is close by, sure revives one for the rest of the day at any park, i.e. Tokyo Disney IMhO. And I usually come back to the hotel tired, but not extremely exhausted, as I have in other trips w/o a mid-day rest available. Not always possible I know. And I realize there were FastPasses they used there too, thanks to Elissa and Robb's great planning and ticket buying. But besides this... Great ongoing TR, Bert! There's so much new stuff there at USJ (Potterverse! DinoCoaster! Minions! Hello Kitty Chucky!) since I was last there, in 2011. Having done a few other coasters backwards (the worst being Temple of Peril in Disney Paris, when they ran it that way for a while), I don't think I would have been keen on Dream going backwards. I just like to go forwards on the things, heh. And isn't the "tune selection" on it, a trip? I remember most of us just hitting the Japanese J-Pop tunes and it was great, every time we rode. Looking forward to more! ...And we had only several seconds to scroll and choose what you wanted to hear during your ride! Maybe it was a longer time period now, for you guys. A couple of pix from the net, showing that "Tune Selection" system on Hollywood Dream. Back in 2011.
  18. ^ I'm wondering if he mainly means "screen based" attractions, more so than simulator ones. With the dark rides you posted there, they all have some screens involved. Guardians and TRON may have screens, too. Especially Guardians with the rotating cars and all? Maybe? If so, it really looks like Disney is still thankfully integrating screens with actual sets in their current and future attractions. Even the update on Alice In Wonderland in DL, and The Little Mermaid in DCA, used small screens where needed. Midway Mania being the exception to me, being all screens.
  19. ^ It really is going to be interesting (and somewhat wierd/strange) to see which foods get made bigger and which ones are made smaller, etc.
  20. And now, they'll have an excuse to sell those mini pizzas to kids, "shrunk down from the original size," wink-wink. To Add: It will be interesting though, to see what they come up with (regular and 'shrunk') to serve there.
  21. Steaks on the BBQ, for dinner tonight!
  22. Looks like they have extended the sale offer for Season Passes... "Save up to $20 when you purchase before Midnight on January 31, 2020." https://www.pne.ca/playland-season-pass/
  23. ^ I think you meant this post for the Bushkill Park thread, perhaps? Just a guess, here.
  24. ^ The concept art doesn't look that right, but from what's posted, that's supposed to eventually be a Luge Park beside the theme park.
