  1. Hey all, I'm tagging along on a family trip to Hong Kong next summer for 2 months (!). I know about HKDL and Ocean Park (which look REALLY nice) but are there any other, "secret" credit (read: whoring) parks that somehow escaped the notice of RCDB? Also, for those of you that went to HK, what "touristy" places are there? There's the peak tram, the Batman building...anything else I should do while I'm there? Thanks in advance.
  2. Welcome to California, the airtime desert of the world.
  3. I bribed my cousin with $5 to go on Jr.Gemini with me.
  4. Look on the bright side...at least they got a new coat of paint.
  5. Ugh. First Eagle Fortress and now this. At least I can say I got to ride EF in all its glory...can't say the same for BBW. You will be missed.
  6. You know, I'm actually starting to see a glimmer of hope for this park. Really...
  7. YES!!!! R!ngs! rings rings rings rings rings [sorry, couldn't resist. ]
  8. I'm sorry you had a bad day, but I don't really understnad some of your concerns. -if your son wasn't paying attention to the gates, that's his problem. The staff always announces that the gates are closing; besides, the gates are not like they're lightning fast. Your son has plenty of time to avoid his hand getting chopped off, which I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have. There's always a leeway of a few inches between the gates and the bars. -Flash Pass costs extra, deal with it. It costs extra at pretty much anywhere BUT Disney. -Yes, you have to pay extra for some rides...even before the 'money issues'. They're called 'upcharge' attractions. Nearly every park has them. -Food items are, indeed, overpriced at the parks. However, again, I don't see why this ruined your day for you. If you go to a theme park, you should expect higher-than-normal prices.
  9. ^ I don't think so...they just got one with the new Tick Tock, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Murphy. Besides, they got new projectors a few years ago -- so I don't think we'll see another major rehab happening for quite a while. And the parade is being moved since the DCA parade route is going to be down for construction.
  10. ^ Just pointing out one of my peeves... You'd think that "roller" wouldn't be the hardest word to spell, no offense.
  11. Sorry I'm new to the forum. I'm trying to fit in. But what do you mean by floorless. Can you explain? Don't worry Twizzler, you'll get the lingo down soon enough! It looks like Hydra is the only floorless coaster you've ridden according to your CF counter. Check out the wikipedia link to understand the difference between floorless and inverted. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floorless_roller_coaster - Lady Bebe Thanks so much! I have ridden Hydra. It's a very fun rollar coaster! The next step on your journey will be learning how to correctly spell "roller coaster".
  12. If it's your 1st time on a skycoaster, pack an extra pair of pants. That is all. Seriously though... 1. Skycoasters are absolutely scary as hell, if only for the first time. The sensation of hanging on your back hundreds of feet in the air with nothing but a vest and a inch-wide cord isn't something you take lightly, if you get my drift. 2. $15 sounds a tad expensive, but if you're willing to pay, go for it. 3. Absolutely! In fact, I find that the experience is heightened when you're riding alone because there's no one you can share the fear with. ...plus, no one has to find out you sh!t your pants.
  13. Excellent TR. Terminator really does run better at night. But I have to point out...you know that you're supposed to store stuff INSIDE the l.o.c.k.e.r.s, right?
  14. ...is it just me, or does Big Mike's reports invariably go: "Tickets...Prices...Lift...Overview...rinse and repeat..." Aside from your crushing lack of originality, your trip reports are awesome. I wish I could go on a coaster tour of the world!
  15. I didn't say they should build something that enthousiasts want, because that would be bad for business, indeed. The Efteling (and Disney for that matter) only appeal to people who like slow, nice and beautifull rides. If you have kids to the age of 12, that's nice. But if you want to have something for every age, you can't do with dark rides and small coasters. Disney does appeal across age lines and demographics. Pretty much everybody, from toddlers to seniors, enjoy spending a day at a Disney park. Yes, teenagers too.
  16. ^ If Disney doesn't attract teenagers...then how are they the most successful theme parks in the world? It's my belief that Disney doesn't need to add thrill rides to succeed. Yes, they may add one every once in a while, but overall, they are far less dependent on them as the other park chains, simply because they're Disney and people expect Disney to be family-oriented. If they want thrills, they can go to Six Flags. PS. Sorry for getting off topic again.
  17. ^ Yes it would...it would destroy the thematic integrity of any Disney park with a giant hunk of steel looming over the park. But back on topic... This is GCI's 3rd dueling, if I'm not mistaken. Let's hope they continue their string of improvements (Gwazi -> Lightning Racer -> New Coaster!)
  18. Anyone care to translate those measurements for us American types? And dueling GCI's sound pretty sweet. Looks like I'll need to hit up Efteling pretty soon. MOD EDIT by larrygator: American types should be able to find and use this website: Metric Conversion
