  1. Well now that it appears the ride rotation program is back perhaps they're looking at two years minimum before considering it for relocation to another park.
  2. That & when it rains...bad weather sure helps to clear out the crowds. Anyone know if Rebel yell northside is up & running yet? on my previous two visits only southside was running so I hope both sides are running by now.
  3. This is why we shouldn't get too excited about seeing B&M track at the factory so early...like I pointed out in the other thread I had a feeling the green wingrider was going to an overseas park due to it's early production & shipping schedule.
  4. Try explaining that to La Ronde....or CWL for that matter. The key is variety:The S&S towers provide a different expereince compared to the Intamin ones so it may prove to be worth the investment.Besides look at Dorney, they now have two shuttle coasters right across the midway from each other & people don't seem to complain but they sure do ride.
  5. Looks like my BGW trip might end up being cancelled due to finances so it would seem that the original plan to hit KD on the 2nd is back on...I hope crowds aren't too heavy.
  6. Why is it not suprising? China has been a hotbed of new park construction lately so it's no suprise that when we see track being produced this early it's usually for a park in an overseas market....they seem to be impressed with B&M's products ever since they opened their first few rides there so I would expect to see them buying at least one new B&M every year since they seem to be building at least one new park from the ground up per year.
  7. Yeah..I did a search & got most of the old stuff back. I'm curious about the converted WW rides I saw on the one link....can you use them if you're only running RCT2/TT or do you need the WW EP?
  8. Screamscape has pictures of it being dismantled. I wonder if its really being removed? Seems strange. These types of rides look so interesting without the facade on. It looks sort of rickety. Would be sad to see it go but I think it's being rehabbed after testing must've detected a major mechanical problem....sure they have a windseeker but wave swinger is a fun ride that doesn't have the steep height requirement & is not as scary to those who fear heights. I'd love to see video of one in operation without the panels as I've always had an interest in the inner workings of this particular ride....that reminds me of the show natgeo did a while back at HW where the guy had to go inside hallowswings to do an inspection.
  9. You weren't missing much, when the ride lost it's turntables back in 07 it lost a good part of it's appeal. I wonder if they can open up that space between Roar & wild one to create a new access point to the gotham side of the park? That would really allow for better traffic into & out of the two areas.
  10. Man that sucks,he had some of the best custom flats for RCT2.
  11. Looks like that green track might be heading there after all? Wonder what's going on with wave swinger? could it be that they're retiring it this season as scremscapes latest update has the park pretty much taking it apart right down to the mast being removed.
  12. Kinda creepy that they're not removing the backside remnants of skull mountain.
  13. Good thing we may be skipping the 2nd in favor of BGW on the 1st so we don't have to deal with the crowds.
  14. Thanks,is AE's site still up? I had quite few of his works on my older system & really want to get some of those on the laptop.
  15. We might head over that Sunday - we'd go Thursday but I start working that week. Plus, that'll give me a few days to know how much I have to brace myself when riding. You know,I really don't get why tilt & avalanche were removed, chaos, enterprise & especially IE are all understandable as they each were prone to constant downtime & other assorted problems but tilt & avalanche ran fairly well & were still popular rides that should've been spared. That said I wasn't too fond of tilt(major barf fest waiting to happen) but did enjoy a spin on avalanche every so often so it was sad to see those two rides go.
  16. There, I simplified your post. No matter how much you try to prove to us that Fast Lane is a negative thing, you aren't going to change the fact that it exists. Really it all comes down to is this: You now have a choice at Cedar Point to not wait in long lines. The key word there is CHOICE. You can choose to wait in a 2 hour Top Thrill Dragster line, or you can choose to only wait 15 minutes. Crunch all the numbers and statistics you want, but I am going to choose the 15 minute wait any day!! With that in regard those who are pro FL are never going to convince those who are not that the system is either fair or infallible. If the parks see too many complaints over the course of the peak season then we just might see the system removed by next season. People went to the parks (CF.SF,Bush etc.) for years before the idea of "pay to skip the line" programs were started & they all knew what to expect....& that is the simple fact that you're gonna have to wait in a line at parks to get on rides,it's just a fact of life.Remember it has only been a decade or so since SFI first borrowed the concept of paid line cutting from disney after all.I have found from experience that it looks like you're better off going on days where rain is forecast as it keeps the crowds, and the fastlane lines down as my last trip to KD wasn't as bad as on opening weekend thanks to the weather forecast that day.
  17. On what page are the links for the custom flats? Sorry but I'd prefer not to have to search through 100+ pages to find it thanks.
  18. Nice entry building...looks like you're using the SFMM map in that scenario,or a path setup similar to it.
  19. Next year it's back to the waterpark with plans to follow through on that 2006/2007 slide complex that was on the site plan a few years back.I see the points made in fixing the customer service & infrastructure problems as those are important issues that did need attention but occasional cap ex improvements to keep the park fresh & new are also important as well & this was something that the park chose to forego in favor of making the needed infrastructure improvements. They just need to replace many of the flats that were removed during shapiro's reign,of course Iron eagle & the enterprise were too costly/hard to repair but should've been replaced with newer rides to make up for it....I wonder if a 200ft. starflyer might be a good fit for the park in the future?
  20. I wonder if using urethane might help smoothen the ride? I can think of a few woodies that might benefit slightly from such a switch since it's possible for PTC trains. Should be interesting to see how this ride turns out & if CF has any other woodies planned for the 2014 season, the ride is long overdue at CGA & it's great to see that CF didn't scrap the project considering all of the money they've put into the design & planning, not to mention the litigation just to get it built..
  21. Hoping lines & the weather will be bearable on the next trip, not sure when I can fit it in for june since I may be going to BGW on the 1st though. From what I read somewhere I believe the reason avalanche's 3rd train is missing is because they used cars from train 3 to fill in for trains 1 & 2 & actually shorted it from 7 cars per train down to 6.
  22. I've felt this for a decade now: SFA (to me) has been the bastard at the family reunion, in a lot of ways like SFAW was earlier in its history. In many ways, I could see so much they could do with the park- both big and small- to really make it shine. While Wolfpocalypse is a great addition (even if it IS used), the park has quite a bit more they could do with it, and really turn it into a gem of the chain. As SFoG has proven, it doesn't have to be bigger to be better, and the same thing could apply here. With some love, care and redevelopment, I could see this become a brighter part of the SF empire. (Now, that does NOT include Mind Eraser... which I'd love to see replaced by a custom B&M invert...) R.D. I agree that they could do wonders to turn the park around & realize it's potential if only they'd just stop playing favorites with the other parks in the chain & perhaps increase the overall cap ex budget for new rides as well. They were headed on a decent track to bring new rides to the park but that of course fizzled out by 2002/2003 when the focus shifted to spending more on the bigger parks & SFA became overlooked as a result. I'm hopeful that new management will realize the importance that adding new capital to the ride side of the park is & perhaps if they see a good ROI on this addition they'll continue to improve the ride side as it really needs it since they spent the last decade or so adding primarily waterpark attractions while removing the problematic rides....of course that was due in large part to the previous two ownership teams not making the right decisions for the chain but perhaps with the new guy in charge things might turn out differently in a few more seasons & then perhaps I may onsider a return to the park.
  23. That's news to me...since when have woodies been using urethane wheels with exception of the intamin's?
  24. It makes the regular line longer on most rides because the line moves slower as a result.I don't really see them "merging" the lines like they're supposed to but instead all they've done is use exisiting entry points(disabled guest entrances) as a means of bypassing the regular line & as a result it severely limits how many guests are allowed to enter the station from the line & that is what slows things down.
