  1. Could be a spinning wild mouse. A kiddie SLC? Man, I hope not! I gotta say, I'd be disappointed with a GCI or GG woodie, because that would mean SFMM is never getting an Intamin prefab.
  2. ^Hey, if we got to ride it at WCB with the old trains, even, I'd be jumping for joy.
  3. That impressive how fast they have been getting through this, because I felt like yesterday that they still had all the original colors for the ride. Hopefully they can get the tunnel built soon so they can open it up for a soft opening. I'd gladly take it without a tunnel.
  4. Vallejo has never quite recovered from the Zodiac killer.
  5. Only one genre can be dismissed. Discuss.
  6. TPR loves PA! I say that because I know Robb wouldn't disagree. I don't think anyone intended to bash PA. I, personally, was just saying that I think $2.50 is a bargain compared to other "per ride" coasters.
  7. Bud Ice. I'm not pretentious like Derek and Joe.
  8. Yeah, $2.50 for a coaster, any coaster, really, is a bargain. Expanding on what Eric said, Manhattan Express is now $14, Speed $10, and Desperado and Canyon Blaster are bargains at $7 each. I'd like to think Manhattan Express' high price is to pay for the new B&M or Intamin hyper that is to replace it in 2010! But, alas...
  9. ^^About an hour south of Disneyland. I've never been, so I'm not one to make a recommendation. Beyond that, you got Sea World and the Giant Dipper at Belmont Park, too.
  10. I agree that Universal is not quite worth a trip, especially if you've been to Orlando. All there really is to do is one credit not quite as good as its Orlando counterpart, a tram ride that gets more boring every year, and a few badly dated stage shows. Knott's, especially on a weekday, is a half day park at best. You'll be wise to spend the rest of the day at Disney. Six Flags can be pleasant on a less busy day when the weather is cool, or miserable on a hot, crowded day. Good luck!
  11. ^So you don't know the maximum point a roller coaster can go?
  12. It's funny how people believe every rumor and urban legend about a death at a Disney park. There have been several, but they are all well documented. However, the WDW Splash Mountain one is true. If you are unsure if the story you've heard or not is true, just check: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deaths_at_Disney_parks
  13. It'll be funny if she blows off everyone on the red carpet. "You'll never work in this town again!"
  14. That was great. Every trip report should have a Devo reference, so thanks, Robb. Also, I think the Spanish NBA player at Benidorm may be Pau Gasol, who now plays for the Lakers. Anyone know for sure?
  15. We all look forward to these trip reports. If this thread was made in a month instead of now it could have actually opened this up with one, but hey, Big Mike deserves the anticipation!
  16. I'm guessing that Shapiro and crew have decided that S:TE is still popular enough to keep. It's really not *that* bad a ride, the length of the airtime is pretty much unmatched. I just wish they ran it to specs, and maybe gave it a little more TLC. I guess a paint job would have been a little cost prohibative, but then again a giant red, blue and yellow structure would be a bit of an eyesore.
  17. Yeah, I think it is too low capacity for a park like SFMM to market it as a new, big, major, one of a kind attraction. I think the thing to do would be to open it with a major roller coaster as well, similar to what they did with X and Deja Vu (and misleadingly advertising Goliath Jr. as "new").
  18. It still baffles me that Shapiro called Tony Hawk a ride for 8-12 year olds, when here he is, then 36, riding a Tony Hawk clone (albeit shorter) with his son Jack, then 5.
  19. Shapiro is definately taking the park and the company in the right direction, with the possible exception of showing old episodes of American Bandstand in the ride queues (lol). However, I don't agree with him in saying that a ride like Tony Hawk is specifically for 8-12 year olds. That is WAY too limited a demographic, and I know others have said the same. I believe that such a ride is supposed to appeal to 5-50 year olds, let's say. A "family" coaster is just that.
  20. I think major amusement parks should have at least 2 woodies. Building another in Psyclone's spot seems to be the most obvious location. SFMM is primarily a local's park, and I think few would mistake it for Psyclone, considering Psyclone has been gone for a year now and it would be another year before possible construction would begin, anyway. Even so, just as Psyclone built a bad reputation over time, enough to keep lines short, an El Toro clone would build a very good reputation. Families with young kids are a very good thing for the park. More admissions is good for business, and the parents of these kids would likely not have a chance to get on any of the "big" rides, leaving those lines shorter.
  21. The future is uncertain, so I'll tell you where I've been: -New York New York (Manhattan Express/The Roller Coaster) -Sahara/Nascar Cafe (Speed) -Buffalo Bill's (Desperado) I have a Disneyland AP but I've not made it there this year yet. I'm sure I will do Knott's & SFMM as well.
