Didn't realize you were a turtle fan. You'd get a kick out of all the ones swimming around Loch Ness Monster at BGE. Yeah, they were cute and got some vid time...

New TSA Rules Regarding "Loose" Lithium Batteries
TheRapidsNerd replied to Wes's topic in Random, Random, Random
Something wierd must have happened recently to prompt this, since it seemingly came out of nowhere. It wasn't even an issue last May when I went to Newport News, VA. Had a 4 pack of energizer lith-ion AA's in my carry-on, and nothing said. Well, target's gonna make a killing on lith-ion batteries thanks to this new rule. Kinda silly, but doesn't warrent a dice roll. -
DT, It's been a while since I've been to a 4 star + restaurant or had a quality Filet Mignon (Hershey Lodge had a terrific one years ago). If you and I are ever on a trip or I'm close by, I too enjoy putting on a suit and tie (or just dressing up) and a nice meal out. Believe it or not, there is some social grace here amongst the puns. Consider it a legitimate standing offer.

This seems more of a common sense thing to me. Unless you're very well off, most vacationing families with little kids aren't going to go to the really high dollar restaurant anyway, particularly if it's 4 or 5 stars and requires a jacket. That's why there are various types and price levels of eateries to go to. The last time our family went, I think the Brown Derby at MGM Studios was the most expensive place we ate at and I don't remember seeing any little kids in there. It is a downer when you and your date/spouse/smizmar are dressed up for a nice dinner, and it's anything but. Humorously, I seem to be a little kid magnet. Movies, dinner, plane, whatever, the unhappy youngsters always end up right next to me. It's become a classic family joke, and even my skeptical girlfriend is a believer. One thing's for sure, If I do see little kids in a really nice restaurant, I'm asking them which fork or spoon does what, because it's a good bet they know, and I'm more than a bit rusty.

Glad you enjoyed the Carousel of Egress. -
Photo TR: My coaster t-shirt quilt project

That's a great idea. Well done! That would also make a killer wall hanging/tapestry thing. Glad it didn't come out just so-so. -
The best thing I can say here for the younger crowd is, yes this is weird, and now would be an excellent time to take a break from the internet, get a snack, watch a coaster vid, or play some Halo 3. Trust me. In a few years you'll be way glad you did.

Awesome photos jerryd. Several of those are good desktop wallpapers. Still can't get over how much is crammed in there and how close everything is. Too early to request a Coasters in the Raw segment? Nickelodeon not withstanding, MOA and the new Nick resort with the built in water park that's being built (I forget where) are on the to do list.

^^ The man above me has the right idea. Also, you might check out Cypress Gardens or Wet 'n' Wild depending on time and money options. Wet 'n' Wild is just down the street from IOA. Several folks in various Disney trip reports (which would be good to look at if you haven't yet) have said that Animal Kingdom goes pretty quick and may or may not be a pass. Over in the Professional/Amature video section, there are vids of Disney/IOA parks and rides that are worth watching. They'll give you a decent idea of what might be worth doing. Could save you some time touring. Same with BGA. Hope this helps and have a good trip.

It's kind of like riding a bigger and rougher coaster than what you normally tolerate. It's really for some bragging rights and a funny story. The fact Robb won the Blazin challenge at Buffalo Wild Wings is excellent. That stuff about killed me and I do pretty well with spicy food. Remember those flash fires that jump all over the room in the school fire safety films? That's what happens in your mouth with Blazin in about 2 minutes. Like you, I got smart and backed off and only got snarky once in a while. If anyone has a shot at that challenge it's Robb. More power to him, and please get it on tape.

LOL! Thank you. That's the second really good laugh I've gotten tonight. (still laughing while typing).

Not to get anyone's goat, or sound gruff, but that's just baaaaaaaad. EDIT: rolling d6...a 4. I do not blow up for the above.

Hersheypark on RCT 3
TheRapidsNerd replied to Ccron10's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Been following this one for most of the past year, and some great work. Seems like random crashing is a common thing with the RCT series. WillMontu was having similar problems, and I narrowly avoided the same. Anyway, keep up the good work, especially in the quality detail. -

Some great pics! Love The Flying Whale trains. Coolest Arrow suspended I've seen. Also liked the dessert flat ride thing. Very cool! -
^ Oh, and it was... Between your meal pics and mcjaco's musings, I couldn't take it anymore. Good menu choices by you two and a good excuse to go there. Enjoying the TR much and looking forward to the next round.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
TheRapidsNerd replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was in line for Roman Rapids at BGE in May of last year and there were two very drunk girls carrying beer bottles behind me. One asked the other "Do you think I need to put down my beer somewhere?" Can't be sure, but I think the CMs made them toss the bottles, and let them on the ride anyway. I couldn't help but laugh. -
...head off to Steak N Shake for more Lou porn and a fresh napkin. While thinking of the stealthy ninja and the South Park family, you realize that all is not well this eve. Ominous clouds loom in the distance, a chill fills the air, and the night is eerily still with nary a another car in sight. You look to Stumpy the Wonder camel, securly buckled into the passenger seat for reassurance. He gazes blankly at the road ahead, almost pensive. What could going through the fire-retardent fabric of his camel mind? Having just been set free from a claw game in Walmart's entryway, you'd think he would be elated. But no, no no. He stares glassily forward, like an ACEr during a Space Mountain e-stop. Could this be such a moment for Stumpy as he rides off into the night in a strange car with a mysterious soul at the wheel? Fearing that you are dangerously low on Cheetohs and Dr. Pepper, your thoughts focus on where to get food. In the distance is the familiar red glow and psychotically all too happy swine beckoning to you. You heart races, your palms sweat, yet you are determined to face your fear and now certain destiny. Your eyes narrow as you step from the parked car. It is the only one in the freshly painted parking lot at this hour. The beeping door locks cut the silence like a knife. You've heard the horror of those who've entered this onholy place and lived. Now it's your turn...to shop at Piggly Wiggly! Once inside you see...
