  1. One of my all time favourite ride, Chance's legendary creation - the Turbo. The prototype is still believed to exist to this day. Can anyone confirm there are some working examples, anyone got a POV of this ride..? http://www.ride-extravaganza.com/rides/turbo/turbo_04.jpg
  2. Nice colours and a very compact ride, how many G's does this pull..?
  3. The Ropers should visit the park and get their stress levels down, they have nothing else to do with their lives apart from making problems for Alton Towers. Why live near a Theme Park if you can't cope with the noise levels. They should move to the middle of "North Yorkshire Moors", but then they would complain about the sheep and cows. As for "Oblivion" or SW5, Alton Towers could enclose the entire ride or remove "Oblivion" and add "Bullet" instead. http://rcdb.com/id818.htm
  4. I have a "white PSP" which I can hook up to my car Headunit and have over 200 songs. I also have an I-Pod cable which is connected to my car Headunit, I do not have a I-Pod as the screens are not big enough.
  5. Get there early and go on the rides which are at the back of the park. I did this at Walibi World in Holland and had "Robin Hood" Wooden coaster to myself for almost 20 mins
  6. All parks should have a walk through metal-detector and ask everyone to empty their pockets before they are allowed into the park. if someone looks like they are drunk they not be allowed in. As for drive-by shootings, its a shame someone or a gang has to do this to other people, most of the time its money or drug related.
  7. Hope you all enjoyed your "Independence Day". In your views which Park offended the best celebrations and Fireworks display.
  8. Even if the Park is up for sale the employee's attitude should be a good one to all visiting the Park. I hope SFMM does not get sold as it has been the Theme Park leader of installing new and bigger rides. If the park did get sold which other SF Park would you like the rides to go to..? Why install the new ride "Tatsu" and then the park closes after a year, seems a bit dumb and waste of money.
  9. Your very lucky to be able to ride this coaster. I've been on Colossos at Heide Park and found it to be an amaing ride with everywhere. What is the difference...? Can Someone post a POV of this ride asap...?
  10. I have not had the pleasure of being on a coaster when it does an E-stop. The seatbelts should be placed under the lapbars so they can not be touched and removed when the ride is in motion. Do people remove their seatbelts for a laugh and want to get ejected from the train when going over speed humps.
  11. A Waltzer is the next best thing to a coaster. I would love to work on one and spin it really fast, the people would get very dizzy. I would have lots of lights and some fog / bubble machines, a laser with mirrors everywhere for when the dask/evening arrives.
  12. The company that owns Six Flags New Orleans does not want to re-open the flood-ravaged eastern New Orleans theme park, and has sent a proposal to the city that would allow the amusement company to walk away from its 75-year lease, according to documents. Six Flags Inc. has offered to pay the city $10 million to cover rent to the city, give the city 66 acres of land the company owns adjacent to the park, and give the city 20 percent of its insurance proceeds above $75 million. The amusement parkhas been closed since Hurricane Katrina. http://www.nola.com/newslogs/tpupdates/index.ssf?/mtlogs/nola_tpupdates/archives/2006_06_30.html#157149
  13. Nice to see the Coaster been saved, but why was it sold to a park in Mexico, it should of stayed in the UK and the "Bullet" should of been sold with it. It should of gone to Thorpe Park, Take out "Stealth" and add this classic ride.
  14. How much does Flamingo Land want for the coaster..? It would be a great shame it if left the UK like "Magnum Force" and "Thunderlooper", but if it went to Walibi World I would be very happy as this is one of my fav Parks in Europe. I'll email Walibi World and see what they say, the Park needs to install a new coaster within the next few years and this would be a perfect fit as it does not take up much space. If I get a reply I will let everyone know.
  15. WOW, that's an amazing concept of a ride for "The Lion King". Such imagination and great pictures, you should send your idea's to ride companies and hopefully we may be riding them in the future. What are your ideas of the perfect "rollercoaster" and "Dark Ride"? You should submit them to the Gravity Group / GCI / Vekoma and Intamin If you are successful in creating rides they will become instant classics, as the themeing will be second to none. You should contact “De Efteling” Park in Holland: Tel No: +31(0)416-288111 Local +31(0)416-288488 FAX, as they go all out on their themeing. Good luck in what you choose as a career path and let us know your next project/design.
  16. I never got the chance to sample this ride, as Blackpool closed theirs before I could test it out last Oct. What is it like to ride..?
  17. Any news of where this unique coaster has gone since it was removed from the park.?
  18. Shame "Magnum Force" has left the UK, I did not get the chance to ride it. A UK Park should of bought it along with "Thriller".
  19. Is this ride the same "Spec" as "X" at SFMM..? Same inversions, height and speed etc..? Is it Bigger and higher..?
  20. The 3rd drop on "Robin Hood" at Walibi World has a habit of launching you into the lapbar if your sitting in last few rows.
  21. Here is a link to the coaster's Website: http://www.zaturn.jp/pc/index.html
  22. When the Ops checks the bar, I just slouch and stick my stomach out so it pushes on the bar. I make sure the Seatbelt is slightly loose as well. This way you can come out of your seat and enjoy the ride more. Before you all say i'm fat or over weight, I weigh 11.5 stone and just under 6ft tall.
  23. Sorry if this has been posted before but if anyone has missed it, here you are: Press Release here: http://investors.sixflags.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=61629&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=875468&highlight= a)Goals reiterated of improving park operations, appearance, and overall brand image. b)Season pass sales are off slightly as prices increased, but season pass per caps up 10 percent. c)Discussed how poor the brand image had dropped. New rides opening in June? Not good in Mark's eyes. d)Season pass sales down 550,000. 62 percent of the total drop (1.3 million) in overall attendance is the 12-17 age group. Parks not acting as babysitters anymore. Increased pricing has attracted more families. e)Part of the attendance drop from last year is the 220,000 lost from SFNO not being open. f)Per capita guest spending up 14 percent through June 18. g)Corporate sponsorships up. Sponsorship revenue (mostly Coke) was $19 million. By end of calendar year 2006, this number projected to reach $29 million. h)Greatest challenge in company is staffing. Need of better quality seasonal employees. Also need of mid level supervisors and trainers. i)Too much reliance on foreign student employee program. These workers don't speak fluent english in many cases and are not trained properly. j)Big rides are easy to market, but guests return because of the "Disney" type experience. Better overall experience. He referred to Hershey and their new dark ride. People aren't going to Hershey for the dark ride. They're going because of the family friendly reputation the park has. k)$10 million less spent in media/marketing. They are going after the "moms", which cost more to reach. He said he can't market the new six flags when he can't yet deliver the new six flags. l)Double edge sword with regards to marketing coasters- $88 million spent on four new coasters this year. If you don't market these rides to the teens, you're wasting marketing dollars. By marketing to teens, you're not marketing to Six Flags' new target audience. m)$3 million over budget on El Toro, and 3 hour waits due to single train op through July. Other late openings- Tatsu at SFMM, Catapult at SFNE, Big Kahuna at SFDL. n)Beginning Monday June 26 through August 1, a marketing blitz will take place. Television, radio, print. Level of discounts the same, but gate prices are higher. o)Land of Astroworld was sold for $77 million. Sold assets of Wyandot Lake to Columbus Zoo for $2 million. Finalized lease of Sacramento waterpark and may look to sell the rides back to the park. Closing both Oklahoma City parks. Gurnee, IL and Eureka, MO selling parcels of extra land. p)Explore options to sell SFDL, Waterworld in Concord, SFEG, Enchanted Parks, Splashtown Houston, SFMM and Hurricane Harbor. Factors: is property in line with stragetic vision, is there value in real estate, has there been interest expressed for the properties? q)Regarding SFMM: there is strong interest in the marketplace, may not fit in with vision of future of company. It's been marketed as a thrill park, not a family park as Disneyland, Universal, Knotts. Not saying they're selling the park, just that they will move forward discussing inquiries with interested parties.
  24. The program will be presented by Zambelli Internationale, Inc., New Castle, Pa., one of the oldest and largest firms in fireworks displays in America. Following the fireworks presentation will be “Hot Summer Lights: Fire Up the Night,” the new nighttime show featuring pyrotechnics, video, light, sound and “FireWater” – torch-like flames that are choreographed to the music and reach heights of 25 feet into the air. “Hot Summer Lights” will be shown at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4 and will be shown nightly at 10 p.m. (weather permitting) through Aug. 20. (In case of inclement weather, the July 4th fireworks display will be postponed until Wednesday, July 5 at 10 p.m.) On July 4, Cedar Point will be open from 10 a.m. to midnight. Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. From Saturday through Tuesday, July 1-4, the world’s largest touring grill, the Johnsonville Big Taste Grill, will be at Cedar Point cooking up Johnsonville bratwursts for hungry park guests. The Johnsonville Big Taste Grill is no ordinary backyard barbecue. Weighing more than 53,000 lbs. and extending to a length of 65 feet, this giant grill is so big it requires its own semi-truck to haul it from one location to another! The grill has the capacity to cook more than 750 brats at a time – approximately 2,500 per hour – and can accommodate more than 12 “grillmasters.” The Big Taste Grill will be located near the Good Time Theatre. Special meal deals will be available, along with Pepsi products and cold beer. In addition to the light shows, the live entertainment season is now in full swing at Cedar Point! Guests looking for a break from the action-packed midways of Cedar Point can check out any one of the park’s award-winning live shows. Returning for its second season, guests can join America’s favorite beagle, Snoopy, in the Good Time Theatre for the “Snoopy’s Summer Vacation” ice-skating show. Snoopy and the PEANUTS gang celebrate all of the things that make summer great, including visiting the beach, camping, the Fourth of July and more. At the Palace Theatre in Frontiertown, ladies rule in “Divine Divas,” while the thumping sounds of rock ‘n’ roll can be heard in the Red Garter Saloon during “Rock the House!” Back by popular demand are two guest favorites: “Extreme Splash 2006!” and “Livin’ In America.” Shown in the Aquatic Stadium, “Extreme Splash 2006” features the World Professional Extreme Team as they treat guests to a diving show that includes amazing stunts, comedy sketches and a finale that you have to see to believe! “Livin’ In America” in the Centennial Theatre takes guests on a musical journey across America with hot hits from Motown, disco and rock. In the Camp Snoopy Theatre, kids laugh with delight with Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the PEANUTS gang during “Charlie Brown’s Funtime Frolics” and “Snoopy’s Sing-A-Long.” For guests who can’t get enough of the thrilling rides and roller coasters that Cedar Point has to offer, the park will stay open an hour longer on Friday nights. Beginning Friday, July 7, Cedar Point will remain open until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights through Saturday, Aug. 19. Sunday through Thursday, the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Gates open at 9:30 a.m.)
  25. Walt Disney World has been sued for wrongful death by the family of a four-year-old boy who died a year ago after riding the theme park's Mission:SPACE thrill ride. The family's lawyer, Robert Samartin, said on Wednesday."The forces employed on the ride are dangerous. We think inviting four-year-olds on the ride is dangerous in itself," Samartin said. Daudi Bamuwamye of Pennsylvania was visiting the Walt Disney Co.-owned (DIS.N: Quote, Profile, Research) park near Orlando, Florida, with his family in June of 2005 when he fell unconscious while riding the rocket simulator ride with his mother. An autopsy by the Orange County medical examiner found that Bamuwamye suffered a cardiac arrhythmia due to an undiagnosed heart defect that placed him at risk for sudden death under stress. Samartin said the lawsuit also accuses Disney of negligence in the child's death. He said Disney advertises itself as a leader in deployment of portable defibrillators to save people from heart arrhythmia, but failed to keep a defibrillator near Mission:SPACE, arguably the theme park's most intense ride. Disney denied the allegations in the lawsuit, which was filed on Monday in Florida state court in Orange County."Daudi's death was a terrible loss to his loved ones and we sympathize with them. However, we disagree with the assertions in the lawsuit," said Kim Prunty, a Disney spokeswoman. Prior to Bamuwamye's death, according to Samartin, the local Reedy Creek Fire Department paramedics had responded to 135 to 140 calls to assist Mission:SPACE riders and sent eight riders to the emergency room.
