  1. This must be an act of "women" power. I did not ride it, it a great loss cos of it's age 1937, a classic. It should of been sold to another park to enjoy and treasure. I bet the "Nash" or "Rollercoaster" will only last another 20 years before they go. I don't think Amanda is a woodie/steel coaster fan. Bring back The Whip and Turtle Chase.
  2. Totally mad, but great achivement. Atleast there are no loops for him to get dizzy from
  3. Anyone know if this ride has different ride settings...?
  4. This ride is at Walibi World, I would ike to know what it is called and if it has different speed settings..? Sorry for the picture quality
  5. Mine was "Corkscrew" Alton Towers in the mid 80's
  6. What a wonderful layout it has, something for everyone, loops, barrel-rolls, tunnels etc How much will it have over the hills..? Is it the 1st "Lim" lift-hill..? No more chains Hope to ride it in 2008
  7. The operators of Birmingham's answer to the London Eye have announced to the public it is to leave - 5 September 2006 with just two hours' notice before its last ride. World Tourist Attractions admitted the decision was sudden but said they had been made an offer by an Australian firm that they "could not refuse". The last ferris wheel ride was at 1800 BST before work began to dismantle it. Full article below: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/west_midlands/5317602.stm
  8. nice report with great pic's With the "Stengel Dive" on Goliath, you seem to be upside down for ages. It's the best Junior Hyper I have been on, shame it's 5 hours drive away from the UK. Destroy "PMBO" Blackpool and have this ride instead, your get more people coming to the park if you do. Goliath was running perfectly last Wed (it felt quicker, the Woodie Robin Hood gained 5 sec's per lap after the rain) when I visited Walibi World. Thorpe Park should of cloned this ride with 2 x "Stengel Dive" instead of building the "always down" Stealth.
  9. Can a POV be posted for this ride which does not have an ending of .ra wrebbit - Do you have this POV as a .mov or .wmv file Thanks
  10. The Dragon has been sleeping. Welcome back. Anyone got a POV of this huge coaster..? Has the trains been changed or are they the same.
  11. On Thorpe Park's website it has the following message: http://www.thorpepark.co.uk/misc/promotions/sept_sickie.asp That's this Wed taken care of
  12. I prefer lift hill Coaster to a "LIM" launched one, you can't get excited about being shot over 80mph in 2 sec's down a straight line, while on a chain lift you feel excited and prepare for the drop. I hope LIM coasters do not take over, but this is the type of technology we have created for steel coasters, maybe even wood LIM coasters in a few years time. I bet Prior/Church are not happy to see "Lim" coasters.
  13. Does anyone have any news of this coaster being saved as it is an ACE Classic Coaster..? Recent pictures of it would be great to see.
  14. Would "lapbars" be enough for the following rides: 1) Boomerang 2) Dive Coaster like Oblivion 3) SLC 4) Inverted Our hands would be free to put in the air and the rides would be more exciting.
  15. I think a "Steam" powered lift hill can be possible, it could save the those rising electric bills.
  16. If any foreign Ops shouts at me and they are in the wrong, I will photo them and report them
  17. The Corkscrew is still going strong at AT, I hope in a few years it will see the "wrecking ball" and a better coaster is added to the park. Corkscrew's are like SLC coasters, they bang your head from side to side. How about fit "Lapbars" only to one instead of OHR
  18. Thank You for your support and advice. I'll have to see how I feel after watching the ride in action next week. I must say "Star Flyer's" do look fantastic, anyone got a Pic of one at night with the lights on..? How fast do "Star Flyer's" spin, I felt quesy on the "Chair-O-Plane" I rode on Sunday. Do "Star Flyer's" have different settings, e.g. speed, height..? If the ride is not busy I could ask the operator to change the settings, knowing them they would put the ride on Max speed n height.
  19. I visited "Hollycombe Steam Collection" nr Liphook (UK) for a different kind of Theme Park fix. The Golden Gallopers is the classic fairground ride with galloping horses. The Razzle Dazzle, built around 1908 is regarded as the world's first "White Knuckle" ride. It is one of the earliest rides to use both rotational and tilting motion and it was from this than many of the modern rides were developed. The Big wheel is a well known favourite, and the views from the top of ours across the South Downs are spectacular. The Steam Yacht is an early version of the modern "Pirate Ship" - somewhat smaller. The Chair-o-planes, providing a flying sensation enjoyed by young and old alike. Enjoy the photo's Perfect place for a couple of Wooden Coasters through the trees and woods. They could have "steam" powered lift hills Garrett Showmans engine generates electricity How safe...!!! A frisky bird who likes cars .Any Idea's what it could be used for. Saw this at the top of someone's garden Swing Boat The Golden Gallopers Engine used for Razzle Dazzle, it has 3 spin and angle settings Razzle Dazzle (Sort of like a Mexican hat / Trabant) Steam engine powering the Big Wheel A very fast Chair-o-Planes Walk through ghost house
  20. I have never ridden the 2 Woodies, my vote is on "Voyage" as a better more exciting ride esp with the "Blacked out Triple Down".
  21. Best time to visit a UK park is to go out of season when all the "kiddies" have gone back to school/college = 2nd week of Sept to Nov/Dec. The Q lines will only be 15-20 mins wait or even a walk-on.
  22. A slow lift hill (Pepsi Max Big One) is the worst part. The height and speed are next
  23. The only 3 Inverters I have been on are: 1) Nemesis Inferno 2) Raptor 3) Nemesis
  24. How can I conquer my fear of riding star-flyers and "Chair-o-planes" I get nervous. It's not the height which is the problem as I have been on MF, it's thinking "the thin 4 chains holding the chair might snap when 200ft high". Anyone got any idea's which can help me as I'm going to Plopsaland in Belgium next week and they have a 70m high Star-Flyer.
  25. I thought S&S were doing well with their rides, if it is true they have to go under, it's a shame as "Stan" is a master of creating new rides. "Skyswat" and " Screaming Swing", etc. What will happen to the "Arrow" part of the company as S&S bought out Arrow..?
