  1. Why? lots of coasters have 500 footers, or even more.
  2. AZN, where DO you live? You've never updated your profile... I thought you were in Cali...
  3. Enjoy your flight, Soren! Don't forget us!
  4. Wow, they better do a pull-through after all the scenery is in place! (All the B&M water dummies have no legs.)
  5. CanobieFan, Is that the fair they put in behind that old a$$ 16-plex movie theater just off Rt. 1?
  6. Yeah, I had a spacewarp set. I never got crazy with it like that, though. I didn't see your black spiral lift mechanisms in there. That's a shame, as it means you had to chase down the marbles when they flew off the end of the track and feed them back in at the top.
  7. Check out the latest news! http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060310/people_nm/jackson_dc Seriously, though, does anybody know exactly what rides are in this "park?"
  8. Was that the best Wonder Woman actress they could find? I thought they grew 'em real good in Texas?
  9. ^Um, I am a little underwhelmed by this. A bunch of older generation rides and copies of shows done else where. Yawn. Even odder is Gardaland trying to pass off Sequoia Adventure as new for 2006...
  10. ^ Yeah, my favorite is complaints and 'news' stories about increasing gas prices in the US. I filled up my car the other day, about 12 gallons cost me more than $60 US.
  11. Fuji-Q is not a level playing field. Fujiyama, at the front of the park is about 15-20 feet above where Double Loop used to be. Also, remember, the tip top of the lift hill may be 80 meters, but the real drop is from a bit lower, after the dip down. At no point did I take a photo of the vrtical drop from nearer than between 200 and 300 feet away. Perspective can be a real bear to deal with. I'll see if I can get some kind of picture with a person in it for perspective, but this is kind of a hard coaster to get pictures of. There are construction fences within the park that are about 7 feet tall. I usually have to take my shots from the following places: The plaza between the Carousel and the Mad Mouse coaster. (50m) Ferris wheel, as it comes back down from the top. The 2nd story porch outside one of the park restaurants. The entrance gate to the work site. The 'new angle' shots were taken by climbing a staircase at the end of the park employee dormitory. One whole side of the coaster is lined with trees, and that side is the "back stage" area of the park. It looks like my next update will be in mid-April. Sorry! Oh, by the way. Which coaster behind the 4D are you talking about? Fujiyama (black and white) is 71.5 meters tall, and the Hampster coaster (blue) is 80 feet tall. The angles probably aren't helpful when comparing to coasters around the park, either.
  12. Rough chain engagement is possibly my least favorite things a ride can do. There's a lot of it over here in Asia. I think it is mostly associated with cheaper / less precision designs. B&M's and Intamins don't do it, that's for sure!
  13. Maybe a little. I'd really have to go out on a limb and say they really aren't exactly like anything else out there. Mix a booster bike and a B&M clamshell, and you MIGHT get these! I just wish I had gotten a chance to actually ride it between my TWO visits to Lotte World!
  14. I really don't think it is just the fast food companies. It seems like many of the restaraunts in the states have been jacking up portions. Since meal prices have been rising to cover such useless restaurant costs as stupid decorations and making the dining "experience" more fun, and customers complain about those rising prices, they compensate with more food. (Food at many places is one of if not the lowest costs in managing a restaurant after salary, property and sales taxes, electricity, etc!) This, along with more and more Americans eating out more and more often, surely isn't helping waistlines. Bottom line, it is 99% about willpower and drive.
  15. I rode the old steel kiddy coasters at Canobie Lake Park and Benson's Wild Animal Farm in the mid-70's which would put me between 6 and 8 or so. I didn't decide I liked rides ESPECIALLY coasters until I was 20. I've been kinda busy since.
  16. (195 lbs, 5'9") I've been creeping up in weight since I got out of boot camp at 140 lbs. If I ever get so big I can't fit in a rollercoaster or flat ride, I'd brobably either shoot myself or stop eating for a while. I think it would be pretty embarrasing to be that big. I can definitely say one thing for certain: I haven't lived in the USA for almost six years, and I really have noticed a difference in just how fat our country is getting. It's actually pretty gross and sad. That's just my opinions, but I agree with one thing up there ^ McDonald's just tastes so d@mn good sometimes!
  17. DubaiDave, since you ask so nice and now I don't have four consecutive posts in this high-class British porn thread: wagamama = headstrong or stubborn, it's actually part of the nickname I gave my wife and her parents ROLLED laughing when I told them, an unusual reaction from 'elder' Japanese folks to be sure. Yeah, I paid for it when I got home, but it was SOOOO worth it!
  18. N-G Tom seems to have at least one lucky hand there, you can all fight over which hand was luckier... What I found funniest about the whole update is what 'wagamama' actually means in Japanese!
  19. Lou's looking pretty demonic in that picture. Maybe I should drop from the UK trip, she has threatened to have BarryH kill me in my sleep already...
  20. Dude, you are nearly as insane as Guy... R&E do you know what the standard names were for those KMG flats you were on? (and can you share them?)
  21. These seats are VERY different than any other Intamin ride. Although both times I have been to Lotte World, I wasn't able to ride this coaster, I did get a pretty good look at the cars. The Aqua Trax coaster was designed to simulate a ride-on jet ski and the seat is straddled. This has a T-bar restraint , but it is different than the ones found on Perilous Plunge and S:ROS. . I have a top down shot of a train on RCDB here: http://www.rcdb.com/ig1646.htm?picture=21 Your legs go outside the red part, the black bar comes down to the waist / lap area.
  22. The 'reported' height and track length for Zaturn (according to RCDB) are a little larger than Stealth. So while not an EXACT clone, another Mini-Ka has not been ruled out.
  23. So, NGT, was that enough photos?
  24. Southwest is the 'biggest' with pretty cheap fares to a decent portion of the country. They don't always go to the biggest airports, though. IE: TF Green in Rhode Island instead of Logan in Boston, but they don't skip all the big cities. There are others, but I can't remember the names right now. Just don't expect RyanAir 1 GBP fares! They aren't THAT cheap!
  25. Every state has different guidelines for ride operations. Once you begin working at a park, you should be trained about the regulations as they pertain to your job. When you have been working at the park for a while, and your supervisors feel that you are ready for more responsibility, they will recommend you for promotion and ensure that you recieve the proper training for your new position. This is true at just about any large company, not just amusement parks. If you want to work in the amusement industry as a career choice, you should learn about all aspects of operations, not just rides. Learn about restaraunt service, customer relations, finances, etc. That way, when a management position becomes available, you can be the most appropriate for the position from within the company, not just some schmoe working the tilt-a-whirl in your fifties to pay the rent.
