  1. They are both scrumptdiddlyumptious! The problem is the nearest one of either is not on this continent!
  2. ^I'm pretty sure that exceeds the standards for PG-13! Not to mention the searing brain pain associated with the mental imagery that conjures!
  3. ^I'll echo Mr. Canobie about the laziness factor. Back in the mid-90's I used to hang out in a coffe house in down town San Diego. For reasons never adequately explained to me, the owner's wife decided that my nickname would be monkey. It ended up as my AOL SN and my Yahoo SN. Later, when I got bit the coaster bug, it wasn't too far a leap to Rollermonkey. I think I ended up with Coastermonkey at ACE, but I never log in there, so I've forgotten if that's it!
  4. Don't doubt that the idea of riding a new style of ride can be a large draw to ride enthusiasts.
  5. OK. The last batch of photos has convinced me of a few things. This is the new Nemesis. This just becam my #1 anticipated coaster for 2006. I need to get to Phantasialand.
  6. ^^ I suspect that Duane has doubts about it's classification as a coaster vice a flat ride. It doesn't fit my definition, and I'm a TOTAL credit whore!
  7. Wow, that satelite shot makes me realize two things: I've never been down by the river. I've missed out on some things there. They have a TRAIN?
  8. I completely agree that the layout is not the problem. When you find an SLC that isn't too rough, it's actually a pretty decent ride. HOWEVER, Many are quite rough and some rediculously so. The worst I've yet to experience was Blackout at Suzuka Cirsuit. That sucker was so bad I was actually wondering if it was getting ready to derail!
  9. ^ Logan, UT, eh? And do you work for, say... a company that uses air to power amusement attractions?
  10. ^Now you've done it! You just set yourself up to flamed by both Robb AND Elissa for wussing out and not picking one or the other. The smart move would be to not have posted anything in this thread at all! I feel Robb's the braver of the couple for reasons I'll keep to myself. Sorry Elissa!
  11. When is this supposed to open? I have this park penciled in for early June. Has ground been broken yet? It certainly looks like an easy install...
  12. ^OK. It is an upcharge. I can't remember how much, 500 yen, tops. You start by giving your ticket to a nurse or orderly in blood spattered hospital gear. After waiting in the dark lobby for about 5-10 minutes your eyes begin to the dark and they move the group (usually about 10-15 people) into the next room. Here you watch a movie (In Japanese) that gives the rules for the attraction and sets up the story. The first time I did this there was a story about horrible unnecessary surgeries and the subsequent results. This time, the story was more supernatural. I don't know if the movie is selected randomly or changed periodically. Next the group is walked to the next waiting area, where you are broken into groups of 4 or less. Each group is given a single penlight. You have your group photo taken and you are given a reciept to look at your picture later. Then the fun begins. There are branching paths. There are live actors. (Lots of 'em!) There are countless props from hospitals from real body bags to infant incubators and x-ray machines. You go through OR's private rooms, ER, and of course, the morgue. It takes upwards of 30 minutes to get through, and the best part is the actors seem to delight in chasing shreiking Japanese girls well beyond the range of their zone! I had one guy follow me at least 50 feet down a hallway, setting me up pretty good for the next guy. After the exit (there's more than one way out) you enter a snack shop and souvenir store where you can look at and purchase your photo. The shop attendants are also in bloody scrubs, so they might be actors on break. This shop carries the breast pudding cups, if you are looking for them! Hopefully that was spoiler free, I tried to avoid details, and I'm not sure what you see down some of the paths.
  13. It took me a few seconds to figure out where everything was. (I started from the reverse points, then from there figured out the lift and stations.) Once I did, though I was struck by the feeling that it isn't really all that long. Thanks, Jose.
  14. ^ Yeah, see! Duane had it listed as one of these for a long time, even though I had described the launch system to him. He has updated it, so his contact at Intamin must have finally gotten back to him. Thank you, Shepp, for understanding why I'm not voting in this one.
  15. ^ 107 meters I could TRY to get off ride of Diving Coaster: Vanish. I live about 15 miles away...
  16. Ah! So he got an abbreviated cycle on one occasion. I get it. Nice looking spin 'n' puke.
  17. I was thinking evac, but I was leaning towards MCBR for some reason.
  18. I've only ridden TTD and GE999, and is that even an accelerator? It's a tire driven launch. I won't vote for any if I've only been on one, as how is that a favorite if there's no comparison?
  19. Rail service in Spain is better than Italy, but not as good as France. Most, if not all of Spain's parks are within easy walking distance of a train station. I enjoyed both Movie World in Madrid and Port Aventura in Tarragona. I hope that you can have a good time, even if you "are not too fond of Spain."
  20. I'm leaning towards Temple del Fuego. I haven't been on some of the others listed here(ROTM), but in general, fire is cool!
  21. It does look like the same track as a Caripro Batflyer, but with 4 across seating. Interesting. That park is on my planned list for this year, so I hope it is up and running if I get there.
  22. I hope it's running well when you visit. It's a fantastic coaster, to me it defines the category of 'out of control feel'. Enjoy!
  23. Come to Japan, ride the Batflyers! (New board of tourism slogan?) Just hit the one at Hamanako Pal Pal yesterday. Robb, Elissa, why didn't you tell me that was such a nice park?
  24. I was just there, but it's hard to really estimate height... It's taller than the shoot the chutes, and a bit shorter than Dodonpa's spike. RDCB lists DDP at 170 feet, but the park isn't level, so this element COULD actually be taller, it's hard to say, but I don't think so.
  25. Ooh! It's my current home park! Sadly, Sea Paradise has removed the Dolphin Coaster, which means that fewer coaster folks will likely visit this very nice park.
