Knoebels Discussion Thread
rollermonkey replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Yeah, I noticed the track coming out of the back building too, but it just seems like a long way from the station to the base of the lift solely as a function of how high above the ground the station is, which is what is confusing to me. Then again, that brake run seems really long for such a "small" coaster. I guess the brakes of the day weren't terribly efficient. -

Looks interesting. I am a little confused, though. I suspect the long straight section of track nearest the camera is the brake run and the station is the structure on the right. How does the train get to the bottom of the lift which ascends in towards the station? It seems out of kilter somehow. -

^ That's pretty funny! I just hope you don't need to test the server as long as THAT particular ride was in the testing stage! -
I think I saw that Helo ride thing once! I didn't know there was a whole "park" too. The kids look like they are riding defensively to save their lives! Interesting contrasts between pretty nice looking fruit and pretty shoddy looking rides.

^TDR has room to expand? They are getting ready to build more parking garages just so they can plow under the parking lot for TDL, and TDS doesn't even have that option! There's a little room to the left of Indy, and maybe behind that wall to the right of Mediterranean Harbor, (I think that area is behind the scenes support facilities for both parks.) but that's about it until they reclaim more of Tokyo Wan!

This is why I like to go to parks with neophytes whenever possible! It's more fun for me! -
^ SD2K: Do not hold your breath for the reopening of this coaster. It will likely happen, but there really is no indication of when, let alone if. There are a lot of social and cultural ramifications about accidents in Japan. Railway presidents resign in this country when accidents occur, for example. There are may be contractual obligations between Morgan and Nagashima SpaLand gumming up the process as well. (Morgan's hyping the fact that they made 4 carousels this year fer cryin' out loud!) There are enough 'world class' coasters in Japan and enough cool stuff outside of parks that you shouldn't wait for something like that to visit. If you wait for Zaturn and Fuji-Q's 4D to open, that makes sense, just don't pile SD2K on top of those as a condition, too. (End rant?)

Valleyfair is a LOT further away from the rest of the group, even GL or MAdv. If you are going there (VF), add Wisconsin Dells to the list. Y'know the town with Hades and Avalanche, plus about 6 or 7 other coasters, too.

Track length seems so important on bobs... They are all so short and over so quick... -

I've seen a few double posts around the boards and I've had isolated cases where trying to edit posts caused lag or, on one occasion a lockup. -
DSF, You actually live in Nagoya, Japan, right? If that is the case, you really have no excuse not to come up and see DisneySea. The shinkansen would run you about 80,000 yen each way and if you are really pressed, there are always the capsule hotels! TDS is beautiful, quite possibly the most immersive theming of any of the Disney parks around the world. Journey is very good, as are Pooh and the 'classic' rides. If you can wait until ToT opens, you'll have it all. As you call yourself DisneySea Fan, you probably should make it up here to justify your choice. If I am mistaken, and you are not living in Japan, then you need to consider the value for cost with a plane ticket in the mix.

Space World to Get Rocket Coaster
rollermonkey replied to MSLSM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The geocity site is mostly about the location of the coaster within the park, and states that there's lots of track on site but outside the property. There's a reference to Xcelerator as an example of the type and he hopes/wonders if this coaster will be similar. He also talks about what attractions seem to be going away for the installation. I thought Gouderix had knocked my jaw out of it's socket during the "butterfly". I don't remember how rough the rest of the coaster was, as I was knocked pretty loopy. I rode a second time, VERY defensively more towards the front and it still was the roughest coaster (of 330+) that I've been on before or since. If you are a little masochistic, it is a credit...

No, I'm a little old for that and Japanese people wouldn't get it anyway. Will you hit any milestones this year?

To borrow from Duane at RCDB: Quote: Roller Coaster: Phantom's Revenge (2001 to ?) Amusement Park: Kennywood Park (West Mifflin, Pennsylvania 15122 USA) Type: Steel - Sit Down Operating since 5/19/2001 Make / Model: Arrow / Hyper Coaster Builder: Morgan Track layout: Terrain Length: 3200' Height: 160' Drop: 228' Inversions: 0 Speed: 82 mph Duration: 1:57 End Quote. It's doable at Kennywood, so why not E:E? (Although I don't think the drop is that far, track top to lowest point may be that far...)

From way out here, I'd say it's a little faster all around. There have been some OCCASIONAL hiccups in the speed, but I attribute it to my end (I'm on a network) rather than the source. There are still a few missing photos, but they don't have red x's, only filenames in the photo box, and those are getting fewer and farther apart. -

DSF, don't let anyone spoil your fun! You asked a park related question. So far, no one has been able to answer it, but maybe a part time user hasn't seen it yet. If I get back there, I'd look around and see if I could tell, and I'm sure I'm not the only one around here.
